Covers area with surge of magma from the earth

Gelmir's Fury is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Gelmir's Fury spell makes magma come out from the ground covering a large area. Updated to Patch 1.07.
One of the sorceries developed from the magma of Mt. Gelmir.
Conjures a surge of magma from the earth, covering the area.
Charging extends the surge of magma.
This sorcery is held to represent the fury of the volcano,
but the arrogance of attempting to harness it
is solely that of men and serpents.
Gelmir's Fury Location in Elden Ring
The Gelmir's Fury spell can be found in the following location:
- Given by Recusant Bernahl at Volcano Manor after completing his request. [Elden Ring Interactive Map Link]
- Should Recusant Bernahl depart from Volcano Manor before his request is completed following Rykard's defeat, Gelmir's Fury can still be obtained by killing Bernahl when he invades at Crumbling Farum Azula.

Elden Ring Gelmir's Fury Guide
- Magma Sorcery
- Stamina Cost: 38
- Deals fire damage
- As it deals fire damage, Gelmir's Fury can be used to reset an enemy's frost buildup, which can be useful for quickly proccing Frostbite multiple times. Note that multiple Frostbite procs will only result in more damage, and will not stack Frostbite's reduced damage negation.
- Note: As of Patch 1.07, FP cost has been significantly reduced from 27 to 16, attack power was increased and the casting time and recovery time were both reduced. In addition, the projectiles are less spread out from where you are facing, making it easier to hit enemies in front of you. The first part of the spell has increased damage and ability to stagger enemies.

I've got 72 INT and Talisman of the Dread equipped and this spell does barely any damage at all. Is there something I'm missing?
- Anonymous
To confirm you CAN get this from killing him in Crumbling Farum Azula. I triggered his questline in Volcano Manor for the assassination but never did it, I killed Rykard then I no longer had the option to complete it anymore. Once I killed him later on in Farum he dropped it immediately without having to go back to Volcano Manor.

the casting speed of the spell is actually decent enough to run in & cast point blank without getting hit, unlike every other spell it shares the casting animation with. The only downside is that being in point blank range is mandatory for reliable damage
- Anonymous
Try it against the ulcerated tree spirits. You won't regret it.

Not bad honestly. I tried this out on a 50 int character; there are better tools for zoning but the damage is reliable, combos extremely well with frost builds, and there are a lot of options for bumping your damage up with things like the Bayle and graven talismans.
The hyperarmor is virtually non-existent, but that's not too much of an issue if you precede the cast with endure or ironjar; the former of which was very reliable.
Tl;dr it's niche, but if you can find an optimal way of utilising it, then it's more than capable, and a lot of fun.

I am on version 1.06 and missed out on his request. I killed Bernahl when invaded and it did not give me the spell.

I think they wanted to make an eruption spell. I never saw the utility of this, maybe pvp? A strong burst and poise damage that leaves long lasting lave trails would have been better.

Would be amazing if this left the spell on the zone you casted it and start bursting the moment time runs out. Like roiling magma but with that same volcano effect

While you can no longer get Gelmir's Fury when killing Bernahl in Farum Azula, you should still be able to pick it up at his location in Volcano Manor. I don't know if this worked because I beat his request before Rykard because I honestly don't remember what order I did them in, but I know it works.

You have all kind of shredding spells.
Comet azur, the beam that leaves you hass-opened.
Meteorite of astel for those that want to feel like oppenheimer.
Ancient dragon lightning strike, the win button.
And krakatoa

I just walked behind Erdtree Avatar in Liurnia and melted this garbage before the boss music even started to play. I know I was overleveled but worth it.

Using it in 2v2s now. Sometimes it hits for 200, usually for 700-ish, sometimes for 2000 if the guy is too l1/r1 spam friendly

cranial vessel candlestand is more reliable imo, but this can be made a lot faster with radagon's icon and other stuff.

This shiz slaps hard, 99 int lusats and gelmir staff and boom, all fall to lava puke

I always have this spell at the ready on spawn when I invade with my fire character. The perfect spell for clearing space and giving you some breathing room in a gank

What's the second way to obtain this spell? I killed Rykard before doing the assassinations so I was locked out of them, yet I still have this spell. Clearly there is another method that isn't listed on this page.

Works surprisingly well in pvp (mainly arena) despite the cast time. I think it's because people get too cocky and think they can go for the kill. The inconsistent hitboxes are just as unknowable to other players as they are for you, leading to a lot of funny deaths where people accidentally stepped on an invisible magma blob and get hit for 200.
I recommend using Rykard's Rancor in conjunction though because it provides excellent cover for yourself while casting, leading to people walking into it.

It’s really good on wake up after backstabbing someone. It’s also a good finisher since a random blob of lava can hit for 100+ damage. It’s a utility spell and very good for defending a door way or ledge.

It makes no sense that Int has magma attacks… it should solely be for Faith instead
- Anonymous
The hitbox of the spell does not match the damage dealt (that is if/when damage is dealt)... It's very clunky to use, I wish Fromsoft would fix all the hitboxes and make it stronger.
- Anonymous
I killed Bernahl at the place it said and it didn’t give me the spell. Is there something I did wrong? And is there anything I can do to fix it?
- Anonymous
Obviously not really a great spell pvp wise but holy **** does it melt big enemies. Pun intended.
- Anonymous
If you are thinking of using this in pvp after it has gotten buffed... don't. Players still can easily roll through the entire thing for some reason and only idiots get hit by it's start up which takes a solid 2 seconds. Probably has decent use for staggering in PVE and frostbite resets if you wanna do that which is probably what you should go for with INT/FTH.
- Anonymous
if it hits, it hits... which is about once in every 100 casts
- Anonymous
Don’t really know how to feel about this spell. When it hits, it seems to do a lot of damage but it’s too inconsistent and has no HA. It one shotted some dude who jumped in on me which shocked me but it’s still a **** spell.
- Anonymous
You can get this again when he invades you as a reclusent in Farum Azula
- Anonymous
Won’t do enough damage or stagger to stop anyone from meleeing you to death in pvp.

I noticed a small typo on the interactive Map, it's categorized as a "Glintsotne Sorcery"

I hate how you can only get this from bernhal, who isn't even a magic user. I messed this up on my NG+1 and now it's the only sorcery I don't have. Gues it's a good thing my NG+2 was gonna happen anyways due to incantations and charms being bound to quests.

The buffs in 1.04 are good ones; and they definitely make this spell more usable, but the biggest issue with it (and Explosive Ghostflame) is their lack of hyper armor. You gotta still commit pretty hard to these casts and recovery times; when a lot of the other options for AoE spells and incantions offer range and relative safety while using them. Still; good changes, and I have confidence they'll actually make the change eventually.

I got this spell from killing Bernahl in Farum Azula. I did not finish his assassination quest.
- Anonymous
Killing Bernahl in the Farum Azula invasion and received all his armor and the spell, I did go complete all the Manor invasions after beating Rykard besides his which disappeared. Unsure if this was the reason or not it dropped for me
- Anonymous
I completed his quest / killed hoslow. Then killed rykard before talking to him. After he left volcano manor I was invaded by him in Farum azula, and after I killed him, this spell was at his sword in volcano manor.
- Anonymous
Visually very cool, sadly not a very good spell. The other 3 magma sorceries are quite good though so there’s that
If you’re going to aoe you’re better off using roiling magma or rykard’s rancor
- Anonymous
DO NOT fight Rykard before turning in his contract. Afterwards, he won't give you this as a reward and will leave instead. Pretty disappointed.
- Anonymous
I wasn't able to complete all the assasination missions because Leyndell was already covered in ash when I got the order to kill the two guys there.
BUT there is another way to get this Spell (And Bernahls weapon and armor along with it!)
After I completed the Volcano Manor area (killed the boss there, and all the npc's have already left the area), I went to Crumbling Farum Azula to the place with the Chest where you can find the Old Lord's Talisman (If you want to find this place, just go to the webpage of the Old Lord's Talisman).
In the room where the chest is located, Bernahl invaded me there and dropped his armor, weapon and this spell when I defeated him.
- Anonymous
I completed all three main contracts and was unable to find this. Patches was dead so his optional contract was not available to me and I forgot to actually look at Bernahl's letter to trigger his contract until after I had completed the manor.
- Anonymous
The only use i've found for this spell is a finisher for a dodge rolling opponent as a support caster.
-Snaz

Yeah; this one kinda sucks. its a stationary spell with no knockback or knockdown to make up for you being pretty much wide open for the entire cast. In comparison: Zamore Ice Storm has crowd control and frostbite, Briars of Sin has a pretty good lingering hitbox, and even incantations like Burn, Oh Flame knock enemies upwards. I'd say if the lava pools were more damaging, or the actual lava staggered better; this'd be a very good AoE spell for lava sorcerers. . . and make the Gelmir Glintstone Staff even better of an option.

I killed Rykard before finishing off the third assassination and Bernahl left the manor. Is there anyway i can still get this sorcery? it's not where he used to be as well. Will killing him as invader in Fatum spawn it?
- Anonymous
This SPell is not good at all, rarely hits and you need to be in super close range to the enemies
- Anonymous
Is this any good in pvp? I can't get this spell because I killed the boss and the npc is gone
- Anonymous
If you did the first 2, then killed the boss, and do the last one, the item should be on his place in the manor. That orb is not just the shop, there's an item there, lol.
- Anonymous
Anyway to get this after I killed the volcano manor boss too early?
You don't actually get this spell until you get past Leyndell, Royal Capital. The last assassination mark is actually wayyyy up north on the map, pretty late into the game.
- Anonymous
You get this spell after defeating Rykard in the volcano manor. When everyone has left the manor the guy who sells ashes of war leaves it behind
- Anonymous
I found this laying in the sideroom where all the others hung out, once I killed her final target (I already completed the zone boss back then.)
- Anonymous
Does anyone know where to find it? I thought the logical place would be Gelmir's dungeon but can't find anything there.
- Anonymous
Obtained from an assassination for volcano manor, after killing the draconic tree sentinel
Deals about 10% more damage than Rellana's Twin Moons (which costs 47 FP) on a full cast, consuming a total of 55 FP. Actually the damage was about the same for both but I was using Carian Regal Scepter which boosts twin moons by 10%, thus fury is 10% stronger. But that test was point-blank against a quite large target, while twin moons deal the same damage to all target sizes.
