Fires a tremendous comet within a starry torrent
Requires |
Comet Azur is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Comet Azur spell creates a giant comet that deals very high damage from a great distance.
Legendary sorcery devised by Azur, primeval sorcerer.
Fires a tremendous comet in a torrent akin to the distant starry expanse, the place said to be the origin of glintstone.
Hold to continue releasing the sorcery's power.
When Azur glimpsed into the primeval current, he saw darkness. He was left both bewitched and fearful of the abyss.

Elden Ring Comet Azur Notes & Tips
- Once cast, the player channels for approximately 3 seconds and fires a very long beam-like comet dealing magic damage to all enemies on the way. The player can keep channelling to continue firing the comet, draining large amount of Focus Points. Once cast, the direction of the beam cannot be adjusted.
- End of beam is capable of flinching/knocking lesser enemies
- Beam itself deals low stance/guard damage
- AI acts weird, when facing this spell as they roll around sometimes even into beam They react to casting animation, not what this animation creates, thus making Comet Azur somewhat usable against bosses that can dodge, most notably Tarnished-type enemies (but to a limited degree)
- There is an exception in this behaviour in form of Malenia, Blade of Miquella, as she dodges away from this spell and tries to approach the caster from save path.
- This spell is channelled, not charged, and therefore does not benefit from Godfrey Icon.
- Its damage can be boosted by 15% by wearing Azur's Glintstone Crown. This comes at the cost of a 15% increase to ALL sorcery costs.
- Very slow casting time, that can be easily stopped.
- Azur's Glintstone Staff combined with Radagon Icon shortens cast time significantly at a cost of increased FP consumption, what can be mitigated with Primal Glintstone Blade.
- Cerulean Hidden Tear allows the player to continue channelling without consuming FP, as spell has no stamina consumption outside first part of the spell.
- This spell has the third highest Intelligence requirement of all sorceries. In exchange, it is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage from long-range to targets that stand on the comet. Due to its very high FP consumption, the player will require high levels of Mind or usage of the Cerulean Hidden Tear to make the most of this sorcery. As the beam cannot be adjusted once cast, this spell will only work against slow-moving enemies or very large ones, such as Mogh, Lord of Blood, or Erdtree Avatars.

what about bloodboil aromatic's buff? just says attack and not physcial

My thoughts: it's good, but it requires 60 INT so you have to sacrifice most other stats if you want to use it earlier. It also lets you absolutely destroy everything in your path if you choose, assuming you have high FP and stamina to cast the sorcery.
TL;DR: is good but may be bad if you try to use it too early.

you use it to one shot bosses.
I use it since it's godzilla's atomic breath.
we are not the same.

At least in my experience, if you don't have a summon or a spirit to aggro bosses, this spell is much more of a pain to use compare to just spamming regular comet. And even if you do, bosses can just move away making you waste a lot of time and mana. It's quite fun when you actually do pull it off though

There are only two viewpoints on this page: “ this is an absolute beast” or “ this spell sucks ass against everything except really slow bosses.” There is no medium ground. No in between.
- Anonymous
Kamehameha is kinda ass unless you use it with infinite FP tear. It melts bosses, but aside from that?Yeah, aside from that it's a bit useless.
Overally good, 8\10, exactly what it should be. A highly-specialized 3-slot spell focused on doing only one thing and doing it well, at the price of versatility. Still kinda ass without the infinite FP tear tho. And against anything that can move to the side. And anything that is not distracted by summons\doesn't has giant openings.

NOOOOO YOU HAVE TO FIGHT BOSSES WITH A STICK YOU CAN'T JUST CAST A SPELL AT THEM YOU STUPID WIZARD

>mages ever use anything else besides this and few other spells like Comet
Kekw, dude is literally has like 10 iq. In reality this spell is a meme nobody uses it aside from aginst very slow moving bosses. But even morg usually just dodge it with attack animation if you don't time it perfectly.
- Anonymous
Always funny when people cry about other people using this against bosses. Just don't use it if you don't like it. But you can't force others to not use it.
- Anonymous
I wonder if mages ever use anything else besides this and few other spells like Comet and Simp's Dark Moon

Three slots!? Let me tell you something, you greedy little sorcery. For 60 INT, and taking up 3 spell slots, I wanna see the item description FOR REAL.
"Fires a tremendous comet within a starry torrent"
For that much cheddar, I wanna see actual Torrent going through my targets. That's right. My Goddamn Spectral Steed, all up in your business.

range is only 33.5 meters. even the glintstone pebble from raya lucaria enemy surpasses this.
Rennala's comet azur travels 360 meters, by comparison.
fromsoft has a habit of giving extremely short range to player magic and extremely long range to enemies.

Both over-rated and over-hated.
If the boss is slow, easily distracted by Spirit Ashes or just likes doing big dumb dramatic animations, yeah, pop Cerulean Hidden Tear and delete the poor fool. If the boss doesn't like giving you giant openings, casting this is inviting death and you'd be better off throwing a Full Moon opener and throwing a fast cast spell like Comet for the rest of the fight.
It's a niche spell, but it performs extremely well in that niche. Hardly the only spell you'll ever need, but not nearly as useless as some people want to pretend it is.

So.. seems like finishing Sellen's questline and choosing to help her fight Jerren is required to obtain Comet Azur.
Step 1: become dragon.
Step 2: spam this and some fire breathing incantations.
Step 3: be midir

I was shocked when Radagon was able to block this. But I really shouldn’t tho. His ex must have slapped him with this once or twice.
- Anonymous
People say this is only useful for bosses standing still for 10 seconds. But I find it pretty useful against some non-boss strong foes. The Crucible Knights at Farum Azula and Cleanrot at Haligtree are so much easier with this. No need to use hidden tear. They are usually annihilated when you have to drink blue juice.

Could be wrong, but I heard this spell was nerfed? (Could be some other really strong one.. idk exactly)
Anyone can tell me if thats correct and if so, if its still the strongest or at least viable to use
- Anonymous
POV: some boss that decided that it would stand still for five seconds to long
- Anonymous
Some could say you only get to see a few seconds of this comet once in a lifetime... cause after that they dead.
- Anonymous
If I see you cast this in coop, trust I will draw boss aggro and stand next to you.

nuke mages have existed since demons souls, idk why everyone decided its bad now

as fun as it is to blast people with this the amount of times it just misses and hits the ground is abhorrent

I don't see the problem with one shotting bosses with this. Most bosses can one shot me if I mistime my dodge, so its only fair.

If the bullet travelled twice as fast then perhaps It would be the INT version of frenzied burst.

Use meteorite of astel. It will keep hitting the enemy even if they dodge to the left or right whereas this won't. Summon a spirit to distract bosses then use meteor and infinite fp.

This is really good with hidden tear hidden tear makes it take no fp(focus points) and some tears make it longer so it’s super op

Can someone tell me what the **** is wrong with the range of this spell? I can't hit this ****ing frozen dragon because of how trash the range is, the range needs a serious buff cuz it's too short
- Anonymous

I panicked during an invasion and cast this spell instead of another. It was very close range and my boy was about to get jump attacked, I thought I sealed our fate with a useless long animation, but when Azur fired it was 45 degrees up into the sky and blasted that mofo from our game. Most glorious mistake ever.

KAAAAAAMEEEEEHAAAAAMEEEEEHAAAAA!!!!
My God I wish this spell was better in pvp though, maybe more range and the ability to change the direction
- Anonymous
With enhanced casting speed, this can potentially be useful in pvp

Some people come for fights. I come for victories.
There is nothing quite like it, when a distracted and otherwise cumbersome boss gets blasted by the overwhelming energy beam of Comet Azur and gets erased in few seconds.
Yes. I'm having the best fun.
Also, it actually takes some work and attention to time it and line it up properly, so the boss just doesn't jump away after the first hit.

i killed mohg in less than a minute with this and a +10 carian regal scepter lol

I have now clocked 907.9 hours on my Steam profile playing this game. I have played STR/FTH, Quality, DEX/FTH, INT/FTH, STR/INT, FTH/ARC, DEX/ARC and now INT/ARC. I have done so many builds across every game in the series that the argument over whether or not it is "fair" to use a spell or skill just sounds like wailing toddlers to me. Don't let anybody tell you how to play your game. Most of the people who do that are IRL NPCs and simply are mad cuz bad.
All that matter is that you're having fun. Whether that's through Poisons and Rot breath, Poise breaking using colossals, pyromancy, bleed builds, frostbite builds, being a parry god, or just ranged cheeses... the only person who needs to be satisfied at the end of the day is YOU. It is YOUR game. You deserve the right to choose how to play it.
Hell... summon me and we can Father-Son Kamehameha some bosses together. Good times.
I've done a bit of experimentation and the damage seems to be a steady constant.
The initial damage will always be 1.42*sorcery scaling and all damage after is 1.13* sorcery scaling

Need a serious buff in PvP
Make it like Rennala where you can change the direction of the spell
For now the spell is trash and useless unless you want to one shot bosses
Don't waste 3 spell slots for that sh*t

I can't help but yell KAMEHAMEHAAAAA whenever I use this lmao

The Youtube video where someone lines up the Godskin Duo, puts them to sleep, buffs his or her character with everything under the sun and then blasts them straight into the next galaxy will never not be satisfiying.
- Anonymous
I’m extremely disappointed it doesn’t insta poise break in pvp. Hit someone with the beam and they just sprint out of it for only two bursts of damage and no poise break. Two bursts with no poise break...
- Anonymous
I don't really get the hate for this, its slow to charge and pretty situational, yes it does destroy the bosses it works on, but it does not steamroll the entire game.

crystal torrent can yield similar damage and has a little bit of tracking, but lacks the same range
This is my favorite spell in the game.
It has a cool sound effect, it has a cool look, and I love blasting my enemies with the power of the galaxy.
This spell scales really well with MIND and mana cost reduction gear.
Elevation between you and your enemy is crucial for landing this spell consistently.

I totally think it’s valid to play From games on easy mode as a way to quickly progress through the game and experience the story as fast as you want. That said, Comet Azur ain’t it. It’s overrated as a game breaking spell. I heard about how powerful this spell was and it was sold in so many YT videos as a boss melter that was available early game. However, the INT requirement is ridiculously high and the slow cast time/nonexistent tracking render it almost useless in PvE and PvP unless you stack various buffs. I only found it useful for Malenia’s second phase and Commander Niall. I’m probably gonna do a rebirth on my INT build because the stat investment isn’t really worth it imo, especially if you’re focusing your build around using this as early as possible. You’ll quickly become a glass cannon with particularly bad aim. I had much better luck with dragonmaw on a more well-rounded build.

Absolutely busted, there's no denying that. Use it if you want, I'm not some all-knowing jackass that will tell you that you can or can't use, but be aware that you are very likely to come across players who will never want to be summoned by you/summon you into their world because they actually want fight the boss and part of the enjoyment for these games comes from the difficulty and catharsis in overcoming a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, and that includes doing so with allies by their side to share the victory with. Remove the difficulty and the game loses a lot of its charm, there is no spectacle, no glory, after watching the 5th boss get deleted by this spell the satisfaction quickly fades and it transforms what would have otherwise been a memorable encounter that you'll remanence about, into just another boss fight to cross off your checklist never to be thought of again. After you inevitably get bored of using the spell, you'll either stop playing the game entirely due to boredom or you'll keep playing but without using Comet Azur for a fresh experience.

Stand before boss fog. Put on Azur's Glintstone Crown. Cast Terra Magica. Sip from Physick Flask. Jellyfish Shield. Walk into boss room. Nuke the boss with Comet Azur. Smile.

The people critising obviously are not very good at Souls games. It's traditionally been easier to use a sword an shield in every souls game with magic focused builds being way harder. In elden ring from software seems to have worked to make each build more balanced and spells like this do that. To use it you need to carry drastically less crimson tears and as a mage you won't be in armour or won't often have a shield as to focus In intelligence meens cutting back elsewhere and means you can't just tank hits and wack away with the rivers of blood.

The megalaser's raw power speaks well enough for itself. Instead, I should elucidate you on a weakness of Comet Azur: verticality.
Comet Azur has a limited vertical firing angle, and is worthless against opponents that are too high or too low compared to you.

Guzzles FP like a Ford excursion, doesn’t track at all, and leaves you frozen. But if you set this up right, buff up, and time the shot? Nothing can withstand it.

With the right setup, you can kill Malenia immediately as her 2nd phase starts.
As soon as the phase transition happens, drink your special flasks to boost magic damage and nullify FP cost. By the time you're out of the drinking animation, she'll land with her Scarlet flower bomb. Roll 3 times to escape and immediately cast Comet. She was dead right before she got up.

I'd have preferred this to have been viable as a bnb spell replacement for most situations instead of being a wipe out move in some situations. Less damage and lower FP cost with faster startup pls
