One of the glintstone sorceries of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

When using regular Glintstone shard on smaller enemies, do you often find yourself ALMOST killing them with one, but needing a second to finish the job?

Great Glintstone might be for you

possibly the best early game goto skill for mage, low fp good range good damage everything u want until u get 2 x staff of loss and night comet in later game.

Testing on the spear guy at gatefront w/ meteorite staff at 32 int.

Pebble: 235 for 7 FP: 33.5 per FP

Great shard: 337 for 12 FP: 28 per FP, but slightly longer range.

To my surprise, the dmg per FP ratio is very close to pebble and seems to travel about the same distance but it travel a slightly slower than pebble so maybe the tracking on fast enemies could be a little less effective but I haven't come around to doing that yet. Basically it's a worthy upgrade for pebble if you want more damage per cast.

More range and damage than the glinstone pebble. Moves about the same speed i guess? Its replacing the Pebble for me now

Was viable before patch, exceptional after. This is a straight up upgrade to Pebble in almost every way, and easily deserves to be the workhorse sorcery for any and all combat situations. High INT and Lusat or Azur Staff +9/10 makes the DPS surprisingly high. I guess it comes down to preference on whether you prefer faster casts or more damage per cast, and then use Talismans like Graven-Mass for 8% more damage or the shortened cast time one I can't remember the name of as well, and GGS becomes among the best spammable damage dealing sources in the game. I can't think of an equivalent incantation or ranged weapon that can do what this beast does.

Range is now about 1.5 steps (when walking at full speed, not sprinting) shorter than swift glintstone shard, which is about half the range difference between swift glintstone shad and glintstone pebble.

I'll try it out as a DPS spell and see how it goes.

Just did a quick test vs pebble after 1.03 and can happily confirm that great shard now has longer range than pebble. Definitely viable now.

The damage and range buff is huge. Definitely a straight upgrade to pebble now with Cometshard being a slight breakpoint depending if people want glinstone cometshard for more damage but can afford the cost

Range and target tracking is awful and needs changed. This spell should be the high-caliber sniper round of the mage arsenal. You more-or-less need to be point blank to hit anything with it.

                          Nice burst damage.
I thought all glintstone spells had the same range? Does the pebble/swift-pebble shoot further?

                          • Anonymous

From my testing compared to Glintstone Pebble, this has the same cast speed and mobility, but ~40% higher damage at ~20% less FP efficiency (i.e. FP per damage). So use Glintstone Pebble if you want to maximize damage per FP, and Great Glintstone Shard if you want to maximize damage per second.
