White Mask is a Helm in Elden Ring. White Mask is part of the War Surgeon Set, and is a lightweight helm that strikes a good balance between Physical and Magical defense. White Mask protect the player's head by applying various defensive properties, it also changes the appearance when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.
There is a lock-out condition for the acquisition of this item. See the tips below for the details.
"Bloodstained, faintly grinning mask.
Worn by war surgeons who were effectively mercy killers.
The Lord of Blood's curse enlivens the wearer when bloodletting occurs. Slightly raises attack power when there is blood loss nearby."
Where to find White Mask in Elden Ring
The White Mask Helm can be found at:
- Dropped by killing one of the three Nameless White Mask NPC invaders in the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum area, northwest of the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace, in the blood-filled lake. The one that drops it can be found adjacent to the Giant Crow enemy near the lake exit from the tunnel. Elden Ring Interactive Map Link

Elden Ring White Mask Notes & Tips
- Sell Value:
100
This helm increases the player's attack power by 10% for 20 seconds, once blood loss has been inflicted on an enemy (or the wearer).
- This stacks with the Lord of Blood's Exultation buff.
- This attack power boost also affects the damage of spells (Sorceries and Incantations).
- Killing Mohg, Lord of Blood will lock you out of obtaining this set. If a player wishes to get the set and also kill Mohg, they have to kill the invader first.
- Poise Updated to patch 1.07

Stole this from some timmies who were trading at RL20. The fewer bleed spamming brainlets in this game the better.

Why is there a lock out condition?? Didn’t they specify patch the blasphemous claw to be obtainable after Malekith died? Just make npc invasions possible regardless of if the boss is alive or dead!
- Anonymous
I’m doing a challenge run called “try to make an OP build that isn’t bleed” wish me luck.

Looks cool with Veteran's chestpiece. Also, with River of Blood I kinda feel like a Sith lord.

is there any good fashion to pair with this? it seems like they made it ugly on purpose to make sweats easier to identify
It didn't let me respond to the previous comment, so: there are 3-ish invaders in the swamp. The one that drops the set is the one that invades you near the bird that gets shot at for farming (the other two drop nothing afaik). Exact directions: starting at the Palace Approach Ledge-Road grace (the furthest southwest one), walk towards the nearest gray Albinauric and then shoot the giant bird walking around with anything. It should aggro to you and fall off the cliff. Now continue down the path while avoiding the Albinaurics, hugging the left wall. It should have a shaded tunnel that leads to a dropdown into the swamp area near where the bird was. Go back, past the tree and to the wall, and it should lead to a little separate area of the blood pool on the right. The Nameless White Mask that drops the set will invade you once you step inside (iirc there's an item pickup meant to lure you in (not the crafting recipe)).
Er, furthest southEAST grace, not southwest. I know my lefts and rights... mostly.

When I wear this absolute abomination, I can SMELL the sweat dripping from it and the OMG BLEEEEEEED BLEED NOW AHHHHHHHHHhhHhhH

I wish there were other equivalents to this helm for every status effect. In particular a monocle for madness procs, so I could shoot frenzy bursts like a gentleman
- Anonymous
The only thing keeping me from wearing this is how absolutely horrendous it looks with every other piece of fashion. With the very few chest pieces it does go with, the cloth stiffly hovers 5 inches above the armor like it’s been soaked in a gallon of jizz and sundried. What are the lore implications there?

Use this then seppuku for the 10% increased damage, then use big bonkers with “Knights Resolve” AoW.
Now that’s how chads use this.

If I'm looking for PvP summon signs and I see someone wearing this mask, I usually just pass them over and summon someone else instead.

I've killed Mohg before last White Mask invasion and now can not get it (only killed 1st one).. 1.05 did not fix it for me

Just tested and I was not getting an attack power increase from White Mask on any attacks. Further testing shows that it wasn't stacking with Lord of Blood's Exultation. They both gave the same attack bonus as well it seems.
- Anonymous
I actually think the mask looks kinda cute. Pair it with Raptor's Black Feathers, Claw Talisman, Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Lord of Blood's Exultation along with dual wielding Bloody Twinblade in off hand and Occult Twinblade with Seppuku in main hand on an Arcane Build and you'll obliterate everything.

I like how this mask looks like the NPC meme face. It's very fitting for those who wear it.

I hate varre that creepy mf. I don’t trust anybody wearing this

Gonna use this on a build with zero bleed. The truest mindgame of all.
- Anonymous
When you see an opponent with this, you know it's gonna be an annoying fight
- Anonymous
I can and do understand how broken bleed builds can be, but I find them to be more enjoyable when not buffed with this mask and the talisman. Let's you use some pretty dang cool bleed weapons without totally destroying everything. Makes it more of a challenge.
- Anonymous
the mask is pretty cool as it is creepy, too bad that practically everyone uses it.
I've never worn it because I can't find pieces of armor that match aesthetically (Blaidd's armor doesn't look bad)
- Anonymous
I wish there was an altered version without the hood thing. Trynna be Michael Myers of the lands between with my great knife.

I just killed a White mask and got nothing. How Come? I have not killed any of the MOHgs, just Margit and Godrick…
- Anonymous
You want to be the most overpowered bleed build, but you have to sacrifice your elden bling. Hardest decision I've ever made.
- Anonymous
Might be just me, but about 90% of players whom i seen wearing these were maidenless af. Healing in duels, severing you out if they losing, attacking during gesture, tbagging, point downs and other stuff - you name it.

LOCK OUT CONDITION BULL****. I ****ING HATE THIS GAME AND YESS IM YELLING.

I searched up novice hood Skyrim and it lead me here…
Crazy.

I summon duelists wearing this mask, let them buff, and then finger severer them.
Lol. Lmao.

no matter what buff this has, this is ugly AF. you can't become elden lord without the elden bling
- Anonymous
If its in the game. You can use it. Stop fecking complaining just because you don't like it personally. It's so pathetic to see so many complaining about an item they don't like.

I killed the Nameless White mask BEFORE killing Mogh or Varre but didn't receive any of the set items. I did kil the Mogh, Blood Omen at the bottom of the Sewers in Lyndel. Not sure if that locks me out or what.

The final insult: with veterans body and feet and no hand armor at all, this totals to 61 poise, which puts you to the breakpoint for resisting staggers on a huge number of pvp attacks. And if an enemy (pvp or pve) uses a blood proc, like a certain lady who is a blade of someone else, you get the damage buff. Which all totals up to it being probably the best head in the game for a majority of builds.
- Anonymous
Y'all on some copium for using this thing over 90% of the game's other (more interesting) options and armor for play. Be original and come up with a build that people will REMEMBER you for, don't conform to the masses, embrace individuality.

People are calling this thing unfashionable, but cmon, you have to admit it pairs very well with the bullgoats set and 2 cross naginatas. superb fashion.

Am I the only one who likes how this looks? I can't believe how many people here think it's ugly.

This headgear looks like garbage on pretty much anything besides the original set. It's also often worn by players who have an ugly heart, an uglier countenance, and deserve the ugliest of ends.
- Anonymous
Works with barely any Armor sets and looks generally ugly, if you have dignity, steer clear.

you see someone using this mask and you know that he is a low skilled player.

rivers of blood + this = guts build. at least its what i understood from people who have guts as their name.

Good for bleed builds but I still don't use it since it's overused and ugly. Fashion souls takes a high priority.

Anyone tried to kill Varre right off the bat in NG+? Would be too convenient if the White Mask would drop like that
- Anonymous
Does anybody know if this stacks with the trinket that does the same thing?
- Anonymous
Seems to have a terrible clipping issue with the Hoslow's Armor piece.
Good thing its white face Varre and not blackface varre. Cant imagine what we'd get then.
- Anonymous
Seems to have a clipping issue with Hoslow's Armor. Hides the neck piece and everything. Shame because they compliment each other quite well otherwise.

I got mine to drop once I killed them all and went back to the one near the bird farm.

ykno what im gonna say it
items with passives should be able to be altered to remove the effect and should be able to be put on other pieces of clothing like ashes of war (spirits of war maybe?)
- Anonymous
Someone nice made the lock-out condition easier to be found on this page, but it was too late for me. Time for NG+.
- Anonymous
I don't mind when a bonus is tied to an item. It reminds me of when ds2 jester set gave you unique boni, but you had to make yourself look like a literal clown to benefit from them.
A constant theme in souls games is that power comes at a price; in this case, its your fashion.
- Anonymous
This game has plenty of armors with unique effects It would be amazing if we had the option to "refashion" some of the armors into something that we find aesthetically pleasing, this mask for example has a really cool passive effect but many will prefer to keep using their head gear because of the looks, If they do a DLC it would be a nice adittion If they add armor customization Boc for example could do that for us in exchange of something.

maidenless mfs complaining about the "bad" fashion. silly helmets are fashion too
one of them dropped mask, one dropped other stuff and one dropped nothing for me. pretty easy guy but environment is crazy hostile. you have to kill the crow in the middle first for sure otherwise it will join the fight. coming from the north, you can pull first one but the next two are in the middle of mayhem
- Anonymous
"I totally wear it for the Elden Bling and not because I googled the best broken build, honest!" - 85% of the playerbase

I admit I am a little bit salty that I didn't get this mask, mostly beacuse I did defeat the NPC before killing Mohg, but for some reasons you have to kill the invasion TWICE to get the armor drop. I mean, did I miss some hint about that being a thing? I don't think there is another case of "DOUBLE INVASION" like that in the game.
Two of the three White Mask invaders are actually a waste of time. I've been able to get this by killing a specific invader every single time.
Go to the southeast grace in the mohg area, kill the suicidal chicken, then run/ride down the ramp and hug the left wall. There's a crevasse that takes you to the area where the bird you killed was located. Keep to the cliff edge, and when you get to the other side the invader that drops the armor set will spawn. The other two don't drop anything for me and are just there to provide a challenge.
Fun fact: Right before you get to the area where the invader spawns (the rock wall opposite from where you enter, near where the suicidal bird spawns), there's a dead tree right near the wall. If you're careful, you can fall into a small nook where you are safe from attacks. Trigger the invasion (torrent's ring will be deactivated) then go into this nook. The invader will always fall off the cliff and die.

Things like this really makes me wish there was option to hide helmets. The effect is so good but the mask is ugly af.

Kinda looks like king baldwins mask from the movie "Kingdom of Heaven"

why must some of the best armor look so ****ing ugly and undesirable
Ugly with a lot of stuff, but it looks surprisingly good when paired with the All-Knowing body armor + scaled or ronin's greaves as long as you don't look too closely at how the mask's cloth rests on your back.
