Imp Head (Cat) is a Helm in Elden Ring. Imp Head (Cat) is a Heavyweight armor that provides a good balance of defensive properties. Imp Head (Cat) protects the player's head by applying various defensive properties, it also changes the appearance as well when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.
Head covering made from the largely unaltered head of an impish golem.
Resembling a cat, it holds trace amounts of feline intelligence.
Where to find Imp Head (Cat) in Elden Ring
- Rare drop from Imps.
- Farming: from the Impaler's Catacombs site of grace, run to the imp at the bottom of the stairs, and after killing this one, run back up and kill the one near the top which is now done climbing; you are close to the grace again.
- An alternative way to farm the item is to kill the Spirit imps behind the Albinauric Rise. This only works if you haven't already solved the puzzle as this stops them from spawning. These imps can drop the head and will spawn 20 times before stopping. The items they drop will disappear once they respawn so they must be looted quickly. After the imps stop respawning, they can be reset by exiting and reloading the game or traveling to the nearest site of grace.

wow, got it on one of my first imp kills of the whole playthrough.
- Anonymous
wow, been playing 200 hours and only got a drop on my 3rd character
- Anonymous
The glintstone crowns need a bunch of crystals to increase your intelligence, usually with debuffs, but this does it simply because cat = smort

I guess I was lucky. I got this early in game, and also rather quick. Feel no need to change, yet.
- Anonymous
Just got this from Stormfoot Catacombs. I've played for nearly 1100 hours and have 100% achievements, and I just got this today.
- Anonymous
Could be useful for the RL1 folks out there so they get extra spells but good ****ing luck with the drop rates, they're really rough.

Killed 300 on the given Farming location. And got 4 of their wierd axes and some smithing stones 1 with discovery 118

i just saw a vid that said this had 0.5 drop and its true lol, when i first played this game i made all the way to a dungeon close to the samurai i forgot the name and got this, i used it until lyendel capital bc wasnt dropping another helmets

Be careful farming at Albinauric Rise, items will despawn when the imp respawns, so you have to pick up the items quickly. It's not fun when the Head drops and then disappears before you can pick it up
Best place is Albinauric Rise for me. The phantom imps drop them and keep respawning. I didn't even mean to and got 2 at once. I probably just got really lucky but if you farm there you don't even need to rest at a site of grace. In fact, I was lazy and was letting my spirit ash kill them while I was figuring out the puzzle. (Then got my ass shocked when 2 heads dropped because I didn't even know that was possible) so you can just let your spirit ashes farm for you. Make sure you don't unlock the seal though, or else the imps stop respawning.

I find the murkwater catacombs to be a better place to farm the imp head, as their are 3 imps right by the site of grace, and they only come at you 1 at a time

Got it accidentally while getting to the boss for the 4th time at impaler's catacomb, with 13 arcane. First time I got lucky

this was the first time i had to farm extensively for something in a souls game and i almost gave up... curse those impaler's catacomb stairs

I got it accidentally with arcane 7 while trying to defeat grave warrior lol.

I hate these things, I keep getting them when farming for forked hatchets

I know it's small but it should really be catlike dexterity rather than intelligence with all the glintstone crowns and stuff

Does anyone know if this helmet is worth using on a mage build? the other mage helms come at a cost and this one is just a flat +2
- Anonymous
600+ imps till it dropped. 400 probably in Impaler, and the last 200ish in Murkwater. I know at least the 400 from Impaler because I now have over 200 Violets when I didn't before today.
For a mage, Impaler sucks because it's a long path down the stairs and back for 2. Murkwater gets you three in a quick burst then a reset. My discovery is only 109 so I knew I was in for the long haul. But it's done...on this character...

+1 for Murkwater drop. Got it off like the 3rd imp by the entrance my first time there (no boosters). Didnt know how rare it was till i looked it up. Normally im the guy farming something for 10+ hours that everyone else gets on their first try so this reversal of luck was nice
In my experience the Murkwater catacombs worked best for us farming them.
Both myself and my wife had multiple ones of these from a single run through.
Her arcane was 20 and mine was 18 and we both used the silver toed thingys to increase our find rate.
spend about an hour in impalers and never got a drop.

After 3 hours of farming it finally dropped, when an imp fell down from the stairs. You can only reach that with a bug it seems so I didn't get it.

After 4 hours, I have 300k runes, about 40 smithing stone 1 and 20 of those french fry forks they call weapon. AND ZERO IMP HEAD!!
I am sorry, but the drop rates in this game completely drained the fun I had playing this game.

Tempted to farm a bunch of these and invade ppl wearing nothing but his helm, named Catboy, drop a cat head, and leave
- Anonymous
Huh. Didn't know this was a rare drop. I think the Murkwater Catacombs boss dropped it for me, but I can't remember for sure. I do know that I've been wearing it since I got it because 1) it's a cat's head and looks awesome and 2) gives me better defense than any other helm I have. Thanks to what else I'm wearing, I can wear this without fat rolling despite the equip weight.

I'm not sure the info about these imp helms is 100% accurate. I know this is anecdotal, I have no way to prove what I'm saying but the location for the wolf imp head is given as being the minor erdtree catacomb in caelid, but I have the imp wolf helm and I've never set foot in the minor erdtree catacomb once. I can't be bothered with any of the dungeons that have poison or rot water to deal with as well as the enemies, and there's no two ways about it, I am 100% sure. I'm not as sure about the imp cat head as I am the wolf, in all honesty it is possible I'm getting it mixed up with the imp corpse head helm, I got them both in the same session, but I do know I don't farm for sh*t except runes to level up a bit early game, and I feel like all the imp heads I've stumbled across were looted from a corpse not a drop from an enemy. I'm hoping there will be someone reading this page for the imp head cat helm who can maybe confirm some of this, particularly getting the wolf head in a different catacomb than minor erdtree in caelid.

I got this my first run through one of those dungeons and had no idea it was rare until my friend pointed it out

I've got so many bloody forks I'm about to open a B&B and call it the imp-aler. Still no head to mount on the wall.

Impaler Catacombs, run down to the imp down stairs, slap, run back up and slap the now done climbing imp you passed, back to grace.
- Anonymous
I got mine at Cliffbottom catacombs. It came pretty quick I think I killed 7 imp's before it droped.

Just got mine. They drop from the imps in Impaler's Catacombs, Murkwater Catacombs, and Stormfoot Catacombs. I found Murkwater catacombs to be the easiest. I recommend a fast weapon with a ranged weapon art that can one-shot with R1s and the WA, and allows you to cast the WA at least 4 times (pref 5 or 6 since the imps are wiggly af and sometimes dodge your WA). For this I used the Highland Axe with Beast's Roar. Run into the entrance of the first room, pop the two on the ceiling, and a third immediately to your left. If you're using a fowl foot, return to the site of grace and repeat. If you're not, continue forward to just before the pressure plate. Use your WA to kill the next two and then run into the room, killing the imp that ambushes you for six total, then fast travel back to the site of grace. If you're running on a HDD or otherwise have long load times you may want to just rest at the SoG after the first room, pickled foot or no.

Picked this up off a drop in murkwater cave about 2 hours into playing. Luck of the bandit build. 100+ hours later still rocking this cat head.
- Anonymous
I managed to farm about 50k souls trying to net myself this hat in the first little dungeon. Don't give up, eventually Miyazaki will take pity on you and you'll get it.
- Anonymous
i'm so sorry guys but i got it on my second kill (impalers catacombs, 274 discovery)
- Anonymous
I'm getting insane, after 2 days of farming i got 3 full lines of forks and some smithing stones, but not a goddamn ONE helm
- Anonymous
RNGesus blessed me with the drop!!! ...then I saw the body ragdoll off the side and into the unreachable pit in impalers catacomb. Safe to say, I just gave up for now lol

Drop down platform before going up stairs and up ladder and then it’s on corpse
- Anonymous
It’s at minor erd tree catacombs on corpse it’s up stairs then up ladder
- Anonymous
Best place to farm them is stormfoot catacombs, every enemy has a chance to drop them. I used swift glintstone shard because it oneshotted them full clearing the rooms in order
Marais mask+marika soreseal (I've got a very embarassing 15 arcane like this) + silver scarab (i'm farming all sets before ng+) + silver pickled fowl foot for a total of 241 discovery
go down, 2 imps in the first room, back and to the left and to the left again, shoot the two on the ledges, next room shoot the one behind, take the first corridoor on the right and shoot the 6 hanging behind the pillar, then back, take the ladder to the left, kill the two posing as statues, forward and kill the one you see and the one ambushing from the right. go back and jump off two floors and back up the stairs to the grace.
If you're out of buff you can just warp. I got 3 in a run, 0 in the other 4 runs.

Why does the interactive map say this can be found on a corpse?

lol went in for the first time and got it... am avoiding reading the guides and wikis until today so didnt even know what was it.

No joke after finally getting it from spending over an hour farming I went to a separate dungeon and just got another one from the first imp statue I killed. RIP lol.

After 4 runs on stormfoot catacombs, I got it from the one that ambushes you at the beginning. (First front room)
I had 192 discovery. I've completed any dungeon and never got this one.

The Imp Head (Cat) is rated as a Rare drop. With 10 levels in arcane the drop rate is <1%. May the RNG gods be with you... always.

guys i got this in my first hour playing this game what is the chances?
- Anonymous
Lol the guide says there was a loot for this in Impaler's catacomb, I cannot for the love of me found it anywhere, is this misinformation? and they meant it as a drop?
- Anonymous
Got it at stormfoot cata(4-5 full run), but i have +5 int and not +2 int. And patch for xbox were at 2.0.2.0.
- Anonymous
Can't believe this is rare... Literally got 2 with the two first imps i fought?? Anyways I was wondering what that icon was, turns out it's from the int buff that's nice!!
- Anonymous
lol i didnt know it was this rare! got it randomly at the beginning of the game

I’ll farming at Impaler’s Catacomb. There are two Imps right by the site of grace so less than a minute. However, maybe my Arcane is just too low on my Astrologer
- Anonymous
Anyone know the drop rate? I have been going at these little bastards for 4 hours and have not gotten a single Imp Head.
- Anonymous
i got thid earlier but mine does not say +2 to int anywhere, when i equip it, it does not raise my int stat at all
- Anonymous
Impalor's catacombs has 5 imps that are easy to farm, i got the drop after little over 100 imps, so maybe a 1% chance?
- Anonymous
Finally got this last night in Stormfoot Catacombs. Based on my timing it was fastest to just kill all imps in the place (but I could one shot them, so that may be a factor). Thanks to the "item dropped" effect it's obvious when something drops, but it is usually a forked hatchet. However, you will _know_ when this drops because it will drop as a rare item (they have a bigger "item aura")
- Anonymous
So i got one of these very early in one of my playthrough and really liked it, then my game crashed and it loaded hours back. Been trying to get this thing back with silver foot charms but nothing. Ive gotten around 8 forked hatchets. and tried 3 diferent areas Lol
- Anonymous
the Imps in Wyndam Catacombs, the ones that throw lightning Jars, can from Furglbloom and T5 Smithing stones
I got it in Murkwater Catacombs, first run, with an astrologer (don't know if it's easier to get as an intelligence-based character)
- Anonymous
Just want to say I finally got it. I spent hours farming but it finally dropped.. If you have the godrick rune, activate the rune arc to have the additional stats to arcane for the time that you farm (chances are you wont be dying during it).
I farmed the Stormfoot Catacombs, I would clear the first 2 in the first room, 3 in the open room you go into after that, and then the one right before the flame traps then i'd reset and do it again.

Y'all gonna hate me...rando find on 1st run of Cata and wanted to Google it X'D

Has anyone else had an issue with the intelligence this helmet gives? I have 11 intelligence and +2 for wearing the helm. But can't use a 13 INT spell.

This helmet grants +2 intelligence, but before the day one calibrations granted +5 int.

Just got this after 242 kills with 9 in arcane. I farmed the first 6 imps in Impaler's Catacombs then teleported back to the entrance to reset.
This was after clearing both Stormfoot and Impaler's, so my actual kill count was higher. Good luck!
bruh no way its 0.5% in every single one of my playthroughs ive farmed for maybe 10 minutes and get it everytime wtffff
