Mm... I understand, I mean with 20 points of Faith and the (Two Fingers Heirloom) and the matter is settled! :)

At this point, every kind of pve build I make, I make sure to have enough faith to cast golden vow and black flame protection/ other elemental reduction spells, it’s crazy, I really feel like playing without this, is like playing on a challenge run, they’re just THAT good.

          • Anonymous

I hate this spell, not because it isn't good, but because I don't want to be bothered to cast it all the time. So I just don't use it, and I suffer for it.

Can anyone confirm if this actually stacks with boiled crab in 1.10? I know this is an 'aura' while crab is a 'body buff', but when testing it seems like golden vow overwrites boiled crab (but not vice versa).

As of patch 1.09, does this still affect weapon skills? Such as Ancient Lightning Spear with Bolt of Gransax?

                • Anonymous

I always thought this only buffs physical damage but reduced all incoming damage, is this the case or does it buff all elemental damage you do too?

The bug has certainly made incantation runs a lot more challenging in pve. Hope it’s fixed soon. Not as worried about my pvp characters because I’d only buff time permitted anyway. Mid game range is feeling the pain though. Looks like I’m doing some melee/infusion runs for now.

Ahh elden ring.... After farming everything for 30+ hours to get the buffs for a Dragon cult build you give me this bug. This is a "But hole required" moment for me.

As of patch 1.09 there is a new bug with golden vow, howl of shabriri and flame grant me strenght that makes it so the damage boost isn't applied to neither sorceries nor incantations even though the spell buff icon is still visible under the stamina bar. I'm writing this in hope that it will be hotfixed soon.

                        • Anonymous

It seems that with patch 1.09 buffs like Golden Vow no longer effect spell damage of incantations. I've tested Black Flame and Flame Sling with multiple damage increasing buffs such as: Golden Vow (Ash/Spell), Sacred Order, Shared Order and Last Rites. There was no change in damage.

I don't think this stacks with Flame, Grant Me Strength anymore. Game version 1.08

335 damage on Black Flame with Golden Vow
390 Damage with Flame, Grant me Strength
Still 390 with Golden Vow and then Flame, Grant me Strength

                            • Anonymous

Considering how defense is calculated, I don’t see a reason for this to have a pvp nerf to defense when it costs so much fp. And I don’t see why it should have a damage nerf either when it’s a free jump attack and a longer cast than erdtree heal, black flame protection etc + It doesn’t even boost spell damage at 25fth. I find it unusable in pvp simply because so many people jump attack and block the cast when starting a duel. Meanwhile, regen is technically unpunishable with rit shield and applies too fast to be blocked.

Worth it. There’s diminishing returns to armor bonus BUT you’re still taking 5% less damage than without it no matter what, the way the math works. So don’t fall for the trap of thinking it’s worthless.

15 faith + the physick buff that gives 10 faith = you can use golden vow spell. 15 faith is very good investment for pretty much any build.

                                  • Anonymous

Weirdly enough, this overwrites Protection of the Erdtree despite them being different “buff classes.” Not only that, but it cannot be overwritten back by PotE once it is active.

Playing support in Limgrave is a lot of fun. Use ash of war golden vow for quick buffs mid combat, and it buffs spell damage unlike the spell version. Use the spell version of golden vow for boss fights or to buff mini bosses while invading. Shared order ( not to be confused with sacred order) for fighting undead and it adds holy perma death to entire groups weapons even if you change weapons. And sacred blade for pvp or for stacking holy damage for undead. Healing is kinda useless since they cost a lot of fp and the range is simply too short but it’s an option... hopefully they bring back fillianores chime to make healing remotely viable again. Soon I’ll have BoG and Lord’s Prayer to block bleed in mobs if I invade or to block magic spam. Wish me luck on finishing my healing twink.

How come this buff says 15% and fire grant me strength says it raises it 20% but this one makes the damage go up more?

                                        • Anonymous

I think I found a type-o in this Wiki article. The stats/requirements panel on the top right of the page says 47 FP and the text of the Wiki under Spell Guide says 50 FP and doesn't list a Stamina cost like it typically would.

Is this incantation 50 FP / 47 Stam?

PS: Apologies for not fixing it myself but I'm away from my PlayStation and cannot verify at the moment.

Ah yes, a major ingredient of the scum cocktail.
Golden vow, fire protect me, boiled prawn, and Wonderous physick with tears of denial.

Great spell but easily obtained earlier and slapped onto a light weapon as the ash of war. Also the spell version takes a lot longer to cast than the ash.

                                              • Anonymous

If I cast this with Old Lord's Talisman for the longer duration and then switch it off for a different talisman after the cast, does it still keep the longer duration. I know in DS1 it would revert to the shorter duration for something like Power Within with Lingering Dragoncrest Ring, but I want to know if maybe they changed how it operates to make it a viable strat.

                                                • Anonymous

Is there any evidence this spell does damage when cast? I used it underneath the fire giant and somehow he lost a huge chunk of health in his second phase.

                                                  • Anonymous

This can be cast with less than 40, seems to give the full buff power, maybe at reduced duration, too lazy to check that part.

                                                    • Anonymous

DO NOT use this when someone's using Lord's Divine Fortification fighting last boss! It gets overridden by this and you don't get 60% negation!

                                                      • Anonymous

Is there not a buff symbol for this incantation? with Flame Give Me Strength you can clearly tell when the buff starts and ends but Golden Vow doesn't seem to have a buff marker, someone correct me if I'm wrong

                                                        • Anonymous

How close do you have to be to your allies? It seems like you almost need to be on top of each other, in my experience.

                                                          • Anonymous

The Rallying Standard Unique Skill does NOT stack with Golden Vow. Rallying Standard replaces the Vow Incantation and vice-versa, thus they do not stack as I have checked the Status page each time.

Flame, Grant Me Strength stacks with both Rallying Standard Unique Skill and the Golden Vow Incantation when either of the skill/incantation is used.

I'd say One of the Best Spells in the Game... This and early on its Ashe of War variant aswell. ( Altho the Spell variant has Double the Duration of Golden Vow's Ashe of War variant... Being from 45sec used as Ashe of War , and this Spell has the 90sec buff which is very helpful indeed along the way ). I'm literally Level 252 now with my character , even tho i'm a Capped INT build at 80 INT with just 32 Faith still. I use this with Blessing Boon while my other 8 Slots are equipped with Magic Spells.... Definitely a Fundamental Spell Golden Vow is indeed. It helped me alot along the way untill End-Game. ( Note : Golden Vow buffs you up with 90secs giving 15% Damage Increase towards everything like Melee damage , Magic Spells damage and also Bow damage... While the 10% Dmg Reduction is really great when you have the Dragoncrest Shield you pretty much become a Tank even as my Hybrid Build Mage with Decent Armor & Poise ). Ohh and Golden Vow also helps out with the Radagon's Soreseal reduced defense or Marikas Soreseal... Eitherway definitely a Fundamental Spell to have either by Spell via Seal , or by having it as Ashe of War.

I have a question, Does Golden Vow stack with all other buff incantation?, i'm planning to make hybrid build with most damage i can get, and want to respec to put 25 points into faith so i can get : Golden Vow (Dmg & Def), Barrier of Gold (Def), Flame, Grant me Strength (Dmg) & Blessing Boon (Reg), so if i cast all this buff, will they stack or overwrite each others like Flame Grant me Strength & Blackflame Protection, Enlighten me fellow Tarnished.

                                                                • Anonymous

"GV" = Golden Vow "FGMS" = Flame, Grant Me Strength "RS" = Rallying Standard

I tested this by using "GV", followed by "FGMS", then "RS".

All three stacked when used in this order, so I reset the buffs and tried using them in a different order.

I used "FGMS", then "RS", and the buff total was the same as the above order. Then I used "GV", and it lowered the buff back down to what it was before Rallying Standard was used.

So yeah, you can stack them, but you really don't need "GV" if you just have "FGMS" and "RS".

                                                                  • Anonymous

As of 03/15/2022, you receive HALF of this spell's effect during PVP (for damage negation)
(It is gimped in PVP, as opposed to PVE)

In PVP, damage negation is around 5% instead of 10%.

Did not test damage, though it is likely that damage is 7.5% instead of 15%.
It is also possible that the damage boost might differ from melee weapons and spells in PVP
(Spells might get the full 15% and melee weapons might get 7.5%, if there's been an oversight from the devs but none of this has been tested and this is only something I bring up for others to look into [How buffs affect weapon vs spell damage in PVP])

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous
