Black Flame Ritual is an Incantation in Elden Ring. Black Flame Ritual spell is a ritual that can summon a circle of black flame pillars around caster.
Superior black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles.

A charged cast then normal cast and combo’ing this with black tornado in the beginning of the fire giant’s second phase when he’s actually still for 5 seconds can shred his hp 30 percent plus. I honestly believe this combo better to use against him than ancient dragon lightning strike. It will literally trivialize his second phase so bad it’s insane.

Love that the DOT damages Rennala during the first phase when she's inside her bubble :D Just have to get her down one time for the final hit. Amazing.

The real gloam-eyed queen is the friends we made along the way

Great setup tool that really lets you know more about your opponent. Honestly 70% of the time the melee players will just risk jumping into it, and at that point it's a great setup for some of the ancient lightning incants as you can frame trap them for big damage. If they stay out of the ring then that gives you plenty of time to be even more annoying with Elden Stars or Flame of the Fell God. It's also great at obscuring vision, I like to do my Sacred Blades while behind the flame.
Against any ranged opponent though, skip over this incantation.. I still have no idea what to do against mages as a faith player. I've tried the Golden Barrier but literally every time I use it, the opponent just runs away without attacking the entire Coloseum match until stalemate... it's just not fun for either of us.

this thing shreds as a co-op summon, just wait till the boss is doing some big attack or gets stunned, then plop this on them. melts their hp.
- Anonymous
This incantation baits people so hard in pvp, they think you are playing scared and all of sudden they are in a ring of fire.
- Anonymous
"Lol you can just jump it."
Jup but you can outsmart there outsmarting by casting a charged version as they run in causing then to f up there spacing. Then combo into a light or catch flame as they get stunned. You can also use the visual Clutter to cast soring black flame or heal yourself. Only a good player will react fast enoth to intercept your cast. Its a better visual distraction then the darkness-spell.

Reasons why Melina and Ranni are not the Gloam Eyed Queen:
1, neither of them use the Black Flame, the true power of the Back Flame may be sealed but that does not stop it being used, if either of them were the Gloam Eyed Queen they would use the flame.
2: if Ranni was the Gloam Eyed Queen she would have unsealed the power of the Rune of Death when she stole it, giving power back to the Black Flame, instead of imbuing the Black Knives with it.
3: if Melina was the Gloam Eyed Queen she would be an empyrean, but Ranni states that only herself, Miquella and Malenia were empyreans
Finally, Black Flame is a fire that requires faith to use, but Ranni’s signature spell causes frostbite and requires intelligence, and was taught frost spells by the Snow Crone, also requiring intelligence.
I love this incantation. Extremely good for pvp to set up spells or aow with a long cast time. Only complain I have is that you get it so darn late into the game

very good against things that are fast and aggressive like dogs and birds

This spell can sometimes confuse the red wolf of Radagon bosses’ AI. The boss will just jump through the flames several times, jumping around like the floor is lava lol. I’ve seen it take a quarter or more off it’s health just from doing this. But This isn’t something that happens often, I haven’t really throughly tested this out. From my experience it seems to happen every other time I use it agaisnt these bosses. Also Charged casts imo seem to have a higher chance of this behavior happening

This spell is actually a perfect spacing tool for multiple situations:
Group of aggressive enemies? -> BFR
Hands, dogs, assassins, Malenia? -> BFR
Need space for the flame of frenzy or some dragon breaths? -> you guessed it: BFR

Honestly the worst Apostle Spell dare i say.... It's just not that good giving how the Charged Cast is long , while the Flames immediately run off within 3sec or less.... Good thing there's that Black Flame Tornado Ashe of War which is Superior. ( Scouring Flame , Black Flame Orb , Black Flame Weapon and even Noble Presence have very good uses compared to this Ritual )..... This Spell is really rarely situational against some of the Slow Moving Bosses , mainly Malenia only actually... In PvP it sucks given players just simply jump ontop of it unlike Black Flame Tornado which has a 360° overall degree Hit box triggers , this Ritual only hits on its Edges keep that in-mind lol. 3/10 Spell for its given situations mainly against Slow big giant bosses or enemies only.

Not really a true combo I think but for some foes you can do the Aspect of the Crucible: Horns (charged) and then spam BFR over and over until they ge back up.
Most useful for bosses like Malenia but you can also use BFR to disguise your next move and even do another crucible spell such as breath or tail.

Good against enemies on horseback. It's got a big radius and they'll run right into it.
If only it worked on non-level surfaces. Then it might have a use for me.

Has anyone considered that the Abductor Virgins are made to resemble the Gloam-Eyed Queen? They have that black eye goop, and they cradle babies like she swaddles the Godskins. Also the serpent motif is common between the Abductors and the Godskins.
- Anonymous
After bouncing between different fire skills and incants, this is the one I settled on for Radagon. He walks so slowly, it easily racks up 3k damage per cast. Black Flame Tornado is the only thing that tops that, but it leaves you much too vulnerable.
- Anonymous
Good for pvp, if you need some breathing space. Just cast this fire wall, and your enemies will be backing up in no time. Feel free to chug some mana potions while your at it.
- Anonymous
IF ONLY that incantation would last a little longer than 3 seconds... It's excellent way of blocking passage in narrow corridors, but it lasts too little to be of actual use.

If only simpleton’s spice from Ds2 existed in this game. I need 20 more levels to use this cool spell fml

Melina is absolutely the Gloam-Eyed Queen
1) Her body is "burned and lifeless" and only her spirit remains; evidence of her defeat by Maliketh
2) In the Frenzied Flame ending, her hair turns black and her sealed eye (sealed with the half-centipede mark, which is a symbol of death) is now opened -- after Maliketh is dead
3) Her sealed eye matches the "Gloam" color - Gloam being a poetic, archaic word for "Dusk"
4) Ranni makes dolls in the form of her master, the Snow Witch. If Malina is the Gloam-Eyed Queen, she and her children used Blackflame as a weapon because it has the power to kill gods and was a form of "indiscriminate Death." So if Death is sealed, what does Blackflame become? I submit it becomes Ghostflame, as it looks very similar but the godslaying power has departed, it's only a ghost of it's former self. And what does Ghostflame do? It afflicts the targets with Frostbite. Thus the "Snow Witch."
5) Melina herself says she "lost her purpose long ago" at the same time as her mentioning she is only a spirit and that her body is dead.
6) When Melina sacrifices herself as kindling to burn the Erdtree, she says "The one who walks alongside flame, Shall one day meet the road of Destined Death.
Good-bye." What flame? The Blackflame. The godslaying flame. The ghostflame. And now the giant's flame. All her life she's used some form of flame or another.
7) Her weapon, the Blade of Calling, says: "Dagger given to one who set out on a journey to fulfill her duty long ago. The power of its former owner, the kindling maiden, is still apparent. The one who walks alongside flame, Shall one day meet the road of Destined Death."
8) Funny how I said she has been using or interacting with some type of flame all her life, and her other name is "the kindling maiden."
So yeah, Melina is the Gloam-Eyed Queen. Come at me.

The queen is dead at the hands of Malekieth, Melina is not THE gloam eyed queen but is possibly a reincarnation.

I just wanna point out that the lore text doesn't specifically say that the Gloam-Eyed Queen was chosen by the TWO Fingers. The lore text simply says 'chosen by the Fingers'. So she could've been chosen by some older precursor to the two fingers/three fingers. I guess it could also be a typo, or an oversight. I'm pretty sure in all other cases the full title of 'Two Fingers' is used in lore text. I could be wrong. Would be interesting to know if just 'Fingers' is mentioned anywhere else.

gotta add gloam eyed queen to the list of potential dlc bosses

This is insanely underrated, both PVE and PVP. So cool to summon a firewall and its very useful, it has stun locked bosses for me like a certain rot goddess...

This spell destroys dogs. You can aggro packs of 4-5 dogs and you will be fine with this spell, it's insanely good for situations with multiple enemies, the pillars damage lingers AND it can be charged. Dont sleep on this one
- Anonymous
Pretty much confirms that the gloam eyed queen was Marika. Unless there was an empyrean before Marika
- Anonymous
Great counter for the black knives assassin enemies or anything that is super aggressive and lacking poise.
- Anonymous
This spell is a great counter to those black knife assassin type enemies who would otherwise be quite difficult to face as an incantation caster.
- Anonymous
Ranni is possibly the Gloam-eyed queen, but this is actually due to the fact that she is not a biological child of Marika/Radagon and Rennalla. It is due to her status as an adopted offspring, and a chosen empyrean, that she is the gloam eyed queen, as she is likely far older than Rennalla, and might even be older than Marika, as she remembers a time before the erdtree and the golden order ever existed.
- Anonymous
Do not sleep on this spell, it trivializes dragons and other huge monsters and will save your ass if you get ganked, this spell got me through farum Azula
- Anonymous
I assume this is affected by holy damage modification and not fire, yes?
- Anonymous
Pretty sure Ranni is the Gloam eyed queen. At first, I thought it was Melina, but then I remembered there's a Godskin Noble guarding the tower you find Ranni's body in, and I can't think of any other explanation for that.
don't search for "who is the Gloam-Eyed Queen" i might got spoiled something big ;(
- Anonymous
My theory is that Melina is split off from Ranni during the cursemark ritual that killed Godwyn's soul and Rannis body. If you look at the thrones at Morgotts final battle Melinas throne is never mentioned, so she's either part of Ranni trying to accomplish the same goal, or Melina was born from the Erdtree to restore the damage that Marika did by shattering the Elden Ring.

Stopped Alecto dead in her tracks.
Fun to drop under giant bosses. Wish it lasted longer.

Cool spell, shame it requires absurd amount of faith to use
- Anonymous
This is a good "life boat" spell to get u out of trouble when u screw up or get rushed.
- Anonymous
did this get shadownerfed? The fp cost is 36 on my game. Also is the initial rise of the flame meant to do damage? I’ve had it hit someone as it come out of the ground and did 200 damage which seems ridiculous for a spell requiring 42 faith. It seems that each individual pillar does very little damage and people can just roll through one of them as long as they’re not panic rolling. It seems to have light weapon stagger which doesn’t justify the requirements or fp cost I think.
- Anonymous
The casting speed is very quick, maybe on the order of something like Catch Flame. Shame about the FP cost, though.
- Anonymous
does charging the incantation increase in damage? wondering if it’s better off spamming the uncharged version
- Anonymous
My favorite of the incantations "Get off me spells". The uncharged cast comes out quick and creates a 360 wall that staggers most small fry. While it holds you can then charge up a full power cast which will usually end up appearing underneath those being held back by the quick cast, shredding them.
- Anonymous
In my testing(using a one-handed Clawmark Seal+22, 20 strength and 50 faith) with all ticks hitting this did almost 1000 damage to one of the trolls by the warmaster's shack. For comparison, that was less than a point-blank flame of frenzy, and about equal to two uncharged black flames. There was only a difference of about 100 damage between the charged ritual and uncharged. If you can cast it multiple times in succession then it might make for a good boss melter.
- Anonymous
In PVE, this is really strong against omens, especially the ones in the subterranean shunning grounds. They get staggered easily, and are so big they'll get hit multiple times. You can beat them by just walking backward and casting this spell repeatedly.
- Anonymous
This spell is useful in PvP. You can bait aggressive players into rolling into this. Cast black flame a few times to condition them to roll into you and then cast this and catch them. I’ve caught people with this and used waterfowl dance on them while they were caught in the flames. Very useful if you’re creative

Unless there is a fourth Empyrean anywhere or in a DLC this pretty much confirm Ranni is the Gloam-Eyed Queen.

No one is mentioning it here, but apparently this spell could be used to safely cast slow spells when fighting melee only players. Just cast this spell then cast something else like elden stars without risking being rundown by melee users. I never tried it myself though, so I'm not sure if it would actually work out that way.
Does the description of this imply that Ranni may have been the Gloam Eyed Queen? The only female Emperyeans were Malenia and Ranni, and since Ranni's whole thing is killing the Two Fingers, leading the Black Knife assassin's, orchestrating the night of black knives, and destroying the Erdtree to stop the Greater Will - would it not also make sense that she was the Gloam Eyed Queen leading a cult of Godskin Apostles to further her goals? Add together all the flavor texts from items that mention the Gloam Eyed Queen and it paints and interesting picture.
Insanely good for bosses that are slow or large, decent for most mobs in general because they just run into the flames without a care.
- Anonymous
i expect this would be terrible for pvp, but in pve it is extremely useful if you accidentally aggro many enemies at once. they are not programmed to react to the flames and will just walk into them. i think the casting speed is a little slow, though.
- Anonymous
this skill is relatively quick to cast , looks very cool. As long as the flames burn mobs continously get damaged by the flames. i have 60 faith and a +25 gravel stone seal and each tick on no defense mobs ( deer ) deals like 480dmg but in reality its more like 200-300. In a fight i have never gotten more than 2 ticks off so dmg wise might aswell just throw a lighntning spear on a single mob for more dmg. For kiting more mobs it could be quite good but thats about it. havent tried on bosses
- Anonymous
not great. stick with black flame from stormveil castle until you beat the game.
- Anonymous
Pretty useful for PVE, all things considered. Decent damage given it's high faith requirement, great to go on the defensive and make space, and can even stagger some bosses. Stacking it multiple times (including with mimic tear) can really build up a lot of damage, especially on large enemies.

Where can this be found? Why is it listed as existing if there’s no location for it? Someone has to have found it to know the stats to have put it here.

i wonder where it is, but if I’d have to say, it’s somewhere related to godskins
The thing you do with your fingers when you cast this is just great
