Aspects of the Crucible: Horns is an Incantation in Elden Ring. Aspects of the Crucible: Horns Creates a mighty horn on the caster's shoulder to gore foes from a low stance. Updated to Patch 1.07.
One of the ancient Erdtree incantations.
Creates a mighty horn on the caster's shoulder to gore foes from a low stance.
Charging allows the caster to barrel into foes before delivering the final attack.
This is a manifestation of the Erdtree's primal vital energies - an aspect of the primordial crucible, where all life was once blended together.
Where to find Aspects of the Crucible: Horns
Where to find Aspects of the Crucible: Horns:
- Dropped by Crucible Knight found in Stormveil Castle directly below the Ramparts. [Map Link] Once you reach the walkway where the three Warhawks are located, head to the first left turn you see. It should be a dead end. Once you reach this dead end jump down, and keep heading down until you find a collapsible cliff. The Crucible Knight should be waiting for you by a ruined archway. [Map Link] Video Location
- For players having difficulty defeating the Crucible Knight, there is a way to cheese him by using the elevator in the building behind the archway he comes from. Wait for the knight to pass by and sneak behind him towards the elevator. Step on the pressure plate and then quickly hop off. Go back to the knight and lure him towards the elevator. Walk around the shaft opening until he falls in.

Great utility spell for setting up a critical. This (fully charged) then a fully charged strong attack will often lead to stance break. For Assassins, I had better luck with Giant Hunt AoW, as Aspect Horn takes a long time to charge up and Assassins will often move back or to the side before this connects. But that AoW requires another weapon. Another similar utility AoW that throws enemies up is Stamp (upper cut). All these are great for setting up a stance break. You just have to have to play with them to see when each works best.

this is hidden so well, i never found it until postgame, with this guide.
meanwhile, they make you fight a crucible knight this early in the game, and in addition, they makemyou fight him on a precarious ledge where he can easily knock you off?!. . if he doesn't just 1-2 shot you because it's still early in the game. .

im doing a crucible cosplay run and this one spell is just so much fun to use
- Anonymous
try this spell with the tree sentinel at the start of the game, it stuns the horse for a bit, cancelling his attacks

Fun fact: you can use this to stun lock ANY crystalian, including the ones in the haligtree
- Anonymous
Full charging this to launch your opponent up in the air and following it up with the full charged tail whip is so satisfying
- Anonymous
Should just allow better free aiming unlocked and this thing could go from meh to amazing instantly.

You don't know how terrifying this incantation is until you fall into a stormcaller follow-up
- Anonymous
Pretty fun to use but if you’re actually serious about the game you’re much better off using impaling thrust/piercing fang as gap closers, not only do they cost less but have far far superior tracking as well, you will land your hits a lot more
Slow cast and terrible tracking for low damage… phenomenal spell FromSoft.
This spell needs some love before it’s anywhere NEAR viable

If you're struggling against Malenia, this spell is really good against her and it doesn't take any skill or practice to use well. It won't stunlock, but a fully charged Horns with the right buffs (Golden Vow, FGMS, Ritual Sword, Godfrey Icon, Crucible Set) deals tons of damage even at only 27 FAI and, more importantly, can be charged while she's idling and goes so fast and so far that she can't react with hyperarmor on approach. I know on my first playthrough the toughest part of Malenia was the fact that you could not approach with an attack because she had a ~50% chance of responding with a move that ignores stagger, so you just get hit and she heals whatever damage you just did.
- Anonymous
Is there any reason to use this over Impaling Thrust/Piercing Fang?
- Anonymous
They could nerf this into absolute oblivion and I'd still use it. The aspects of the crucible are just so badass and fun to use.
- Anonymous
Did some research on the troll outside Third Church of Marika. Used +13 Clawmark Seal with 170 Incant Scaling. Looks like uncharged version deals damage 2.28 times Incant Scaling(389 dmg) and fully charged version deals damage 2.8 times Incant Scaling(477 dmg). Lemme know if I overlooked something.

Maybe it's obvious, but it didn't click for me until after using it for a while that it only has two ranges. Either it's charged or uncharged, and there's no in between.

An anemic effort from ineffective demigods. From today, i will be THE elden lord!

Don't know if anyone else has brought awareness to this yet, but I was just screwing around and I chained a dragon breath incantation after using this. It doesn't make the cast come out any quicker, but it lunges you the same distance as the horns did prior when you activate the breath attack. I don't think it's a legitimate chain, but the interaction sure is bizarre. It's applications have yet to be tested, but I can already imagine some ridiculousness. Might work with other incantations too.

Nothing scares me more than Malenia than seeing Malenia getting tossed around like a ragdoll, from an incantation no less.
- Anonymous
fought the guy holding this after i had beat the dual crucible knight catacomb boss and it was like they added an easy mode difficulty. taking the elevator all the way back up to what i thought was just scenery was really cool
- Anonymous
Knights, crystallians, npc invaders, and crucible knights themselves - anything humanoid that gives you trouble will have themselves yeeted over and over again by this. Just time it right so they don't catch you while you're charging this and don't just spam it.

Nice animation - more of that - very fun, felled an Omen ... but often misses fast enemies, stopped dead by shielded ones and doesnt fling greater ones - and you end up in a bad position - so...
- Anonymous
use while wearing Great Horned Headband to become like a raging bull, you can be easily sidestepped and poked (just like a raging bull) but hey its great against malenia or any other enemy that can be launched into the sky and staggered for a solid 2 seconds. Great for mindless violence (i am a big fan of mindless violence!)
- Anonymous
it would have been cool if this was a lunging grab, but honestly the version we have still kicks ass

Love everything about this incantation, but I really wish I could cast while mounted to use torrent like a battering ram, pretty plz fromsoft

Pretty terrifying to have someone charge out of the bushes with this. Just sayin.

Cruicible inacntations have always been some of the coolest looking, and coolest feeling spells to use and this one really is no exception! loads of fun all around.

I just wanted to do a cosplay of crucible knight because of some video I saw and I really had no clue what to play on my current playthrough. It just happen, I am now in love with this spell: not only it is good in a lot of situation but finishing an enemy by dashing through him, sending it in the air it's just too good. I think I'm in love.
- Anonymous
seen people say this launches malenia, but no one is saying that while she gets up you can fully charge up crucible tail and get both of those hits as well. 3 hit combo with a whole hell of a lot of posture damage
- Anonymous
Ironically, one of the best ways to poise break a Crucible knight. Charge it up and ram it into them to slightly interrupt them. 3 casts should poise break them entirely for a critical hit.
- Anonymous
Malenia didn't ask me to prepare my dignity, I didn't ask her if she likes to fly
- Anonymous
I dont know if it was just me, but when I fought this crucible knight, he did not once use the horns. He used the tail plenty of times, but never once the horns. Does it do this for everyone, or was it just me?
- Anonymous
Totally underrated. Trivializes many enemies and bosses. Well, as long you time it well

I accidentally killed this guy in the castle with the elevator by sending him up while I was running away from him on my first play through. He jumped down and landed right in front of me and died.
- Anonymous
It feels like an amazing fu whenever you charge this in front of an enemy and hyperarmor through everything just to toss them in the air.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I ignored that knight in one of my character's, but I'm glad I found them cause now my current character can go get it!
- Anonymous
It's impossible to not shout "I'M THE JUGGERNAUT *****!" when using this. One of the most fun Incants in the game
- Anonymous
for some inexplicable reason, whenever i use this in pvp, even the target is standing still, the charge always stops just inches away from them regardless of range. I could be 5 feet away or 25, it stops an inch from their face and I just get punished; this attack has never once landed for me in PVP
can someone tell me what im doing wrong here lmao
- Anonymous
FYI: Even uncharged, this incantation provides enough poise to tank a colossal sword. At least it did for me while i was wearing 58 poise set (Crucible set).
- Anonymous
Can confirm this is not increased by a crucible hornshield, which is super lame, would have loved whatever shield you were using to basically make this a shield bash incantation, with crucible hornshield getting an extra buff, even if it was just the 3.5% the armour set pieces give (or 15% for the total if feeling generous).
- Anonymous
This spell allows you to tank through the most brutal hits with a generous window, and absolutely slam people that thought they were a safe distance away.
This is a must have for any squishy faith user
- Anonymous
Annihilates Malenia if you space yourself well. Running a non-optimal int/faith build with golden order seal and it’s still doing plenty of damage to her and knocks her up most times. The tail incantation is also very good and will stun her in 1-3 casts.
- Anonymous
I discovered a glitch using this : Fully charged this incantation quickly followed up with Placidusax Ruin, will move dash you while using the latter (basically casting Placidusax Ruin while dashing as if you're using Aspects of the Crucible: Horns).
- Anonymous
You can change the trajectory of the charge a couple frames into the actual charge to catch a roll or side step.
- Anonymous
You ever use this against a group of lined-up enemies? You'll send em flying and it's the coolest thing ever.
- Anonymous
has anyone tested this post 1.04 yet? any noticeable stagger damage difference?
- Anonymous
Full armor set together with Godfrey Icon and the incant dmg talismans nets a total bonus of around 47% extra damage. Now's the question of whether Spear talisman works on this.
- Anonymous
In 1.0.4 fully charged horn stun enemies in two hits. I didn't test it before, did it always hit poise this hard?
- Anonymous
This incantation is amazing! Good damage, knocks human sized opponents into the air or back, easily helps to stagger large enemies, good travel distance and has some tracking.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
hey since its ancient erdtree incantation, can this get a bonus from the erdtree seal?
- Anonymous
This incantation is excellent at dispatching many troublesome PVE mobs (e.g. Crystalians, Knights, Ogres). Since it's both a gap closer and an upward launcher, you can immediately follow up with a fully charged melee R2 when the enemy is still getting up, which will likely result in a stance break (lighter weapons may need to add a jump attack after the R2).
Note that for Knights, you need to catch them with their shield down to launch them.
- Anonymous
I love this incantation but god it’s abysmal in pvp; without fail, regardless of how close you are to the enemy, it always seems to stop just an inch too far away so you miss
- Anonymous
Grants immediate poise when casting, and throws PVE enemies and humanoid bosses like stuffed animals. Very satisfying. Not great PVP unfortunately, has rather poor tracking. Can ram through RoB spam though due to high poise. The crucible tail swipe is the better spell for PVP.
- Anonymous
The incantation is key if you wanna play as shao khan from MK

Tested this spell from the Prayer room site of grace. I'm doing 2,200 damage with full Crucible Set, Godfrey Icon, Sword Talisman, and Flock's Canvas Talisman equipped, and buffed with Golden Vow and FGMS. The spell also has poise while casting and the charged version has a decent dash range about 6-8 ft. Not to mention it knocks any regular sized enemies airborne if they don't gaurd against it with a shield or something. Meaning you can just juggle them over and over. Certainly my new favorite crucible spell.
- Anonymous
There seems to be some sort of poise bonus while casting this. Testing it against some crappy enemies (exiles), I could keep charging without any interruption, whereas all my other incantations would suffer interruptions.
As others have said, no seal boosts the Primordial Crucible incantations; however, if you were to do a Crucible Knight build, you would most likely want the Clawmark Seal. The two Crucible Knight weapons, Ordovis' Greatsword and Siluria's Tree, both use STR and FTH, and the Clawmark Seal just so happens to scale its offensive incantations with the same stats. Combine this with the armor's passive bonus (I think it's ~4% per piece, not positive as I only read it here) and you should be doing good damage. Have fun!

Casting speed of this determined by dex?
Would be useful to be noted here

Poison fog doesnt aggro this dude when he's facing the item hide in bushes and keep dropping fogs on him til he dies
- Anonymous
At some point during charging your attack it seems like you don't rotate to follow a locked-on enemy any longer, which makes it less valuable against fast-moving enemies. Doesn't seem to stagger humanoid bosses (I'm guessing anything behind a fog gate is no good, discovered this fighting Elmer of the Briar) but everything else on two feet is fair game.
- Anonymous
This is also good to speed yourself through Haligtree Scarlet Rot bog.
- Anonymous
This is my favorite incantations. You only need good timing and positioning. Together with the talisman that shorten casting time for little help.
You'll get staggered if cast in melee range.
- Anonymous
Would you look at that, actual hyper armor during the charge. Still sucks big time in PvP due to the massive recovery. People can quite literally roll away and punish you with a plunge attack before you can roll again. Also does not work against shields, making it even worse.
Probably good in PvE though.

Mostly use this vs NPC invaders, throws them on their ass and you can at least get one melee shot in afterwards.
- Anonymous
I was able to get about +16% damage while wearing the full set of Crucible Axe Armor (I have no clue what other factors were involved, this was just some mild testing I spent 3 minutes on.)
- Anonymous
These and physical dragon spells... 2 words. Hyper armor.. build tanky dragon communion seal and crucible armor for respective buffs... Get some hi hp and be a real dragon knight.. I'm loving it.. you're also a nasty arc build at the same time... Invaders be getting rocked by all these also not just npcs spells and bleed procs every 1-2 L1

I pulled a THIS IS SPARTA with this spell on a spear crucible knight in the aqueduct

Must have in Paladin build :D
also, it seems you get a great poise buff during the spell charge
- Anonymous
objectively one of the best incantations in the game, bar none. If your enemy is a humanoid, hit em with this - doesn't matter if they're a boss, invader, regular enemy, whatever; so long as they're on two legs and humanoid, you'll launch em up into the air, deal decent damage and have enough time to get some hits in before they can get up.
- Anonymous
Quick tip, the charge attack will send you across the ground at mach speed so dont use it near ledges
- Anonymous
Other option to cheese is that Crucible dont go too far from the gate and yo ucan pull him in the small ledge. I killed him 30ish with mostly fire bolts at the limit of its agro. Seems the elevator is better tho but I didn't think of it at that time.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I've accidentally cheesed him. You can easily do it too; it's that simple.
Just run to where he comes from, put him on the elevator and let it ascent. He will fall to his death a few seconds later.
- Anonymous
This spell here is one of the gems of Elden Ring. If a thing can be staggered, this will stagger it. If a thing can be knocked up to the goddamn moon, it find itself on the moon. In a typical caster set, this move turns you into a ram that can strike from 10m away with the speed of a lightning and has destroyed so many otherwise difficult mobs, and killed so many people in PvP already.
- Anonymous
I fought him for an hour at level 20-30 (forgot). Left him there for over 30 levels and came back at level 68 and killed him. Still took me two tries, he's that hard. I'm guessing expected level to fight this dude is between 40-60.
- Anonymous
Crucible knight can be lured up to the elevator leading back into the castle and cheesed by baiting out his attack just after pressing the button to get the lift to ascend. He'll fall to his death.
I suspect this can even stunlock God himself.
