Spectral Steed Whistle is a Tool in Elden Ring. Spectral Steed Whistle summon and ride spectral steed. Tools are unique, reusable items which assist the player during various facets of gameplay ranging from basic communication to assisting in boss encounters.
A delicate goldwork ring. Can be used as a finger whistle.
Sound the whistle to summon and ride Torrent, the spectral steed.
(Dismounts steed when used while on horseback.)
Upon his death, the spectral steed can be summoned again, but doing so drains the Flask of Crimson Tears.

- Received from Melina after resting at a Site of Grace beyond the tutorial area.

AnonymousThe ONLY Graces Melina will give you the Ring at are the two Graces near the Gatefront Ruins (first place you'd normally see her and actually the only place where she gives torrent, she does not if you skip her and get her to take you to roundhold table by going to a far away Grace... oddly...)

I really want to know the philosophy behind disallowing horseback in multiplayer. It would make open world exploring and fighting so much less annoying, and invasions could turn into impromptu jousting matches.

Considering the possibility of Miquella's connection to Torrent, this got me thinking at the ring.
Look at the description, "A delicate goldwork ring." That sounds like it has some ties to Miquella, considering how, unlike the other demigods except for Ranni, Miquella was an inventor.

you should be able to use torrent in multiplayer as long you aren't in combat, it would make afk farmers irrelevant and make group explorations less tedious

Is there any way...AT ALL, to improve this useless ass not-even-a-real-horse? He's only barely faster than sprinting, the speed boost you get when you hit the sprint on him doesn't actually last, it just makes it *seem* like you're going faster by affecting the screen. He's weak, he's unwieldy. I hate torrent. NO armour? Not EVEN cosmetics? No speed boost improvement? You get him at the very beginning and he gets no improvement through the whole game?

200 hours in and I haven't seen this yet, does it have something to do with the weird glowy yellow things on the ground?

Fun fuct! After Frenzied Lord ending Melina finds this ring in ashes. Probably means that poor boy Torrent is dead :(

3 overland sites of Grace are NOT required. I had only the starting grace at the graves and skipped the tutorial grace (though I completed the tutorial), skipped the Church of Elleh grace, and instead went straight to the Gatefront grace. Melina spoke to me for the first time there and, while in that same dialogue, also gave me the Spectral Steed Whistle.
