Quest and Details related to Fire Knight Queelign in Elden Ring
A Knight's Last Wish
Fire Knight Queelign is first encountered as an NPC Invader when you explore Belurat Tower Settlement in Gravesite Plain [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]. And when you defeat him there, he will drop the Crusade Insignia talisman. The second time you encounter him as an NPC Invader is at the Church of Crusade in Scadu Altus [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]. Regardless of where you defeat him on your second encounter, you will obtain the Prayer Room Key and Ash of War: Flame Skewer. The Prayer Room key is an item you'll need to unlock a room at the Church District of Shadow Keep.
Once you have the key and if you're ready, you can start exploring the Shadow Keep, a massive legacy dungeon that is divided into three sections, the Main Plaza, Church District, and Specimen Storehouse. Fire Knight Queelign is located in the Prayer Room of the Church District in Shadow Keep [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]. When you finally meet him in the flesh, you have a choice to give him an item in exchange for either a weapon or spirit ash.
- Giving him the Iris of Occultation drops the weapon, Queelign's Greatsword.
- On the other hand, giving him the Iris of Grace will reward you with the spirit ash Fire Knight Queelign.
IMPORTANT: You may only give him either the Iris of Occultation or the Iris of Grace to obtain only one reward.
As far as quest or lore goes, we found that giving him the Iris of Grace triggers a positive result, where he happily accepts Marika's grace. Your choice will depend on what you want to acquire first when you find him.
Iris of Occultation locations:
- Acquired as an item drop from defeating a Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit located in this area after you drain the flood in the Church District. [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]
- Acquired as an item drop from a Lesser Omenkiller. Drop down the well in the main arena of Fort of Reprimand. The enemy will ambush you there among some items. [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]
Iris of Grace locations:
- Can be looted at the Specimen Storehouse of the Shadow Keep. [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]
- Can be found at the base of the headless statue of Marika in the building west of the Sunken Chapel. Drain the water in the church district, and follow the path of the Tree-Worship Passage to find the statue there. [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]
Dialogue in Elden Ring: Fire Knight Queelign
Finding him at the Prayer Room.
- Queen Marika, mother to us all. Favour me with thy grace.
- I have met many who would threaten or distress thee, and quelled each and all.
- And I hereby swear to never cease. So, please, grant me thy grace. Leave me with my solitary light...
Speaking to him
- Queen Marika, I implore thee, bestow thy grace.
- Take not from me my solitary light...
Giving the Iris of Occultation
- Ahh, ahh...
- I would not. Am I not pure? Defile thee, I would never.
- I ask, why wouldst thou think to purloin from me? Deignest thou not look upon me?
- All this time, I held in my heart only thee!
Giving the Iris of Grace
- Ahh! Queen Marika. Dearest mother!
- I shall silence all who would trespass upon thy peace. As decreed by the Grace of Gold.
- Ahhh! No soul shall thy sanctity imperil!

PSA: Fire Knight Queelign and the prayer room key. The key drops after the second time you fight him. If that's the Church of the Crusade it'll drop there but I fought him there before the Belurat Tower Settlement fight. When I went back to Belurat Tower Settlemen and fought him there, it was my second time and he dropped the key then.

It’s silly that the article states that giving him the iris of grace is the “good” choice. It’s deliberately up to your interpretation, and Queelign is a vicious crusader who kills every Tarnished he can find for Marika. I think the iris of occultation is the right choice

actually the items he drops after being defeated are not based on his location but how many times was he fought, i fought him in the church first and he dropped the talisman, later i came back to belurat where i fought him for the second time and he dropped the key and aow

It doesn't sit right with me to give him the dark iris... even though it yields a better reward (the sword). He prays for Marika, I, the tarnshied, answered his prayers instead.

Guessing you can't encounter him in Tower Settlement if you've already killed Dancing Lion? Or has that mechanic changed since Dark Souls?

I encountered him in belurat and turned back since I only had like one flask. I kept progressing through the level and he instantly died at a certain point.

The first time you kill him, regardless of where you are, he will drop the insignia. The 2nd time, regardless of where you are, he will drop the ashes of war and the key.

I swear, some of the enemies in this DLC are walking tanks. I'm having a harder time with this bastard than I did with Rellana, because he's constantly on my ass and can two shot me to death while I barely deal any damage to him at all

He is the first ennemi i fought in the DLC and After this defeat i am scared about the rest....

Ok so I beat him in the Church of the Crusade, but he didn't drop the AoW or the key. Is it because I did it in the wrong order? I went to Scadu Altus before the Belrut Tower Settlement. If so, that's stupid

I do pathetic damage against him. What he is weak against? I'm using incantations. I have 2 blessings for dmg
