Quest and Details related to Thiollier in Elden Ring
How to Get Thiollier's Concotion in Elden Ring DLC
After acquiring the Black Syrup from Moore, travel east of Castle Ensis and look for Thiollier next to the Pillar Path Cross - Site of Grace. Give the Black Syrup to him, and then ask him about the Black Syrup after. Then, he will give you Thiollier's Concoction.
IMPORTANT: You will need to complete this before burning the Sealing Tree.
The Voice of St. Trina
NOTE: Some steps of this quest are missable and you may be locked out of its progression if you progress further into the story. The first phase of this quest needs to be completed before you fight Needle Knight Leda at Enir-Ilim. You can refer to our SOTE Walkthrough page for more information.
First Phase
To begin Thiollier's quest, players need to find St. Trina's location. She can be found in a secluded area at the very end of Stone Coffin Fissure. This area can only be accessed after defeating the Putrescent Knight, a large boss on horseback wielding a skeleton-shaped curved sword. Once you defeat it, you can now go to St. Trina. Then, talk to Thiollier in Gravesite Plain next to Pillar Path Cross. Choose the option "Tell him St. Trina's whereabouts." After doing so, you can fast-travel to the Stone Coffin Fissure, and this time, Thiollier will be there.
Talk to Thiollier and you will find him in a lulled state in a garden filled with purple flowers. Walk past him and talk to St. Trina, and then choose the option "Imbibe Nectar" which inflicts immediate death upon drinking. You will need to do this action for 4 times and keep doing it until you hear her voice on the death screen. On your respawn, talk to Thiollier, he is still in the same spot where he's trying to drift to slumber. Choose the dialogue option "Pass on St. Trina's words", and then "Try to pass on St. Trina's words again" and this will result in him getting angry that you were able to hear her voice, and not him. Then, drink the poison once again to enter the arena against Thiollier.
NOTE: Spend your runes or use a Sacrificial Twig to save you from losing your runes.
IMPORTANT: Not choosing the Imbibe Nectar will not progress Thiollier or St. Trina's questline.
After defeating Thiollier, he will drop St. Trina's Smile. Talk to Thiollier again in St. Trina's room, where he says he was "No good to anyone, beginning to end", "Weak as a kitten and thick as two planks", and that "dying in disgrace is fitting, in a way..." Then he asks you, assuming you spoke the truth before your fight, "What did St. Trina tell you?"
Then, imbibe St. Trina's nectar again to hear her final words "You must kill Miquella... Grant him forgiveness." Finally, you can talk to Thiollier and "Pass on St. Trina's words", where he says, "Ahh, you are a wretched, wretched soul... A nightmare, come to plague me. Such a thing...couldn't possibly be... Could it? St. Trina, please, let me hear your voice. In my everlasting slumber..."
- Then, after this part, you will now burn the Sealing Tree using Messmer's Kindling to gain access to the final dungeon. The second phase will begin before you fight Needle Knight Leda and Miquella's followers which takes place as you progress into the dungeon. Once the fight has concluded, you will no longer be able to progress the questline.
Second Phase
IMPORTANT: Exhaust his dialogue until he says he'll be heading south to St. Trina to trigger his gold summon sign to appear.
Before you fight Needle Knight Leda and other followers, return to Thiollier at the Garden of Deep Purple. He can be found lying on the ground, filled with remorse that he wasn't able to fulfill his wishes. Exhaust all of his dialogues then drink the nectar from St. Trina again. Then, make sure to speak with Thiollier again and you hear him with a raspy "A-Ah." Doing this will let you summon him in your fight against Leda and her Allies, and the final boss.
First, you need to get past Needle Knight Leda and her allies. Make sure to summon Thiollier here to progress this quest. Then, once you reach Divine Gate Front Staircase, it is optional to summon Thiollier again before you enter the mist door. His summon sign can be found on the ground to your left while facing the door. After the fight, he will drop all of his equipment. You can get the following items:
NOTE: Other players have reported that you can still get Thiollier's equipment if you don't summon him in the final boss fight. Reload the game and you can find his body in the arena. (This still needs to be confirmed)
Dialogue in Elden Ring: Thiollier
Introduction
- Oh, hello there. Are you the Tarnished? Lady Leda spoke of you. Another Tarnished guided here by Miquella. My name is Thiollier. I too am Tarnished, and here on Miquella's account. So, well... here's to new beginnings, I suppose.
- Um, I'm sorry…but well, I'm not much good at anything, at all. I'm weak as a kitten and thick as two planks. I've always been this way. I'm proficient in poison. Sorry.

Elden Ring Thiollier Notes & Trivia
- Notes and tips about this character go here

you know this dude is a champ when even after you cuck him with st trina he still shows up to help you with leda and the final boss.
- Anonymous
You don't need to have found St. Trina for him to want to find her. I talked to him after miquellas rune broke. Before that i had found the fissure which was blocked off by miquellas seal. Once the great rune is broken you can enter the fissure. He is also summonable for the purtescend knight fight.

after i kill invader Thiollier, if i kill the thiollier on the ground do I get his armor?

You don’t have to drink her poison a fifth time just go to the grace and get up and he will invade.
He Likes to stand outside of the FInal Boss Gate and he will somehow die without ever entering probably gets thrown off the Map by Gravity pull probably? oh well. thanks for making FInal boss stronger still beat
- Anonymous
Guys you do NOT have to summon him, i did the fight without either ansbach or thiollier and i still got both armor sets spell and weapon
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
So i summoned them both, died (multiple, just saying) but then beat Radhan without them and got their drop, so im not sure if you actually need to summon them or not, but at least you dont need to win with them !
- Anonymous
you know, when a NPC character tries to kill me for no good reason. I will most likely hate them, but thiollier. even if you tried to murder me for something petty, I think your a pretty cool dude.
- Anonymous
Kinda sad I completely missed him, I really want the poison perfume bottle.
- Anonymous
After having reached Fissure Cross, talking with him had a special line saying he will go south as Moore told him about a "lily area" and he will leave if you refresh. As a result he was nowhere to be seen, but he can be summoned against the Putrescent Boss as a result and thank you after the fight when in front of Trina for helping him reach her again while saying the poison will soon make him see her
- Anonymous
You telling me i have to sandbag the whole final fight with increased scaling for an npc that literally can't do anything to the boss to get the armor?
- Anonymous
Again whole quest line I just missed and locked myself out of rewards :D
- Anonymous
you have to kill yourself 4 times who comes up with this ****
- Anonymous
this guy is currently bugged, at least in my game. doesn't enter the final boss fight unless the final boss hits him through the fog gate...
- Anonymous
he may be weak as a kitten, and as thick as 2 planks, but hes my goat, and hes sticking with me til the bitter end
- Anonymous
I didn't do the last part of his quest, but he still showed up to the NPC fight and Ansbach has dialogue about him
- Anonymous
love that i forgot to talk to him after defeating him and then moving on to phase 2 so i wasnt able to get his set amazing
- Anonymous
don't really know what i did but i said to him the words of st trina and then left, progressed the game normally and he dissapeared...
- Anonymous
You dont need to summon him to leda fight or radahn for him to drop his gear. I completed both solo without summoning him once and after radahn his body was next to the grace with the gear.
- Anonymous
Are we ACTUALLY certain he NEEDS to be summoned for the final fight of the dlc to complete his quest? Because damn, this fight has hands all the way to the next summer solstice, and Thiollier is USELESS against this boss. All it is is adding another level of upward scaling on a, frankly, bullshit level fight.
- Anonymous
but can I kill him upfront for his armor and gear for my lower level pvp character?
- Anonymous
I was still able to get his set and weapons by summoning him for the boss at least once but beating it without him
- Anonymous
I was able to do the first part of the quest after burning the sealing tree, Though i had not progressed much in Enir-Ilim
- Anonymous
If you want to summon other players for help but you want Thiollier's armor, you can summon Thiollier first and then use Finger Severer to send them back. The game will still count Thioller as participating in the battle, so after you defeat the final boss, you can get their armor. You can do the same with Ansbach too.
- Anonymous
Kinda annoying you HAVE to summon the NPCs for the final fight to get their items/spells, it makes it noticeably harder due to inflated HP. Ended up only using the old man.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Literally I am madly in love with Thiollier, thank you Michael Zaki for putting him in the game
- Anonymous
Half the time I summon him for the final fight he doesn’t even come through the fog wall
- Anonymous
Never even saw this NPC and beat the story. This is one of the better looking armor sets in the game and now I'm locked out of it.
- Anonymous
Well, i defeated Leda and her allies before i discovered Thollia. So i guess no questline ?
- Anonymous
the info that you can't progress his questline after burning the sealing tree is wrong. i got to right before the Leda fight and decided i wanted to try and progress some of the stuff i had missed. i realized i had missed the one cross where Thiollier is at, so i went there and talked to him for the first time and got his questline started. i was able to progress the entirety of his questline and summoned him for Leda and final boss fight
- Anonymous
btw st. trina has more than just one line, keep taking the nectar until you exhausted it.
The fextra editors seem a bit confused across pages.
Just because my boy has a twinky voice doesn't mean he's a woman. Leave him alone.

You can skip the early parts of his quest by witnessing the rune break, this will cause him to move to the depths on his own and will make him available as a summon for the putrescent knight.
However this will also cause you to lose out on his concoction for the dragon priestess quest if you didn’t get it before the rune break.
- Anonymous
His name is so hard to pronounce that I called him Trollololol at the first time meeting him.

fellow twink nectar imbiber with enough courage to stand with you in the end, a real one in my book
- Anonymous
You don't have to find Trina's location to get Thiollier to move. Having the Black Syrup in my possession, she told me she was leaving for the South. I then found her summoned for the Putrescent Knight boss. After the boss, she was in front of Sainte Trina.
In the guide to do this quest you don't need to give St Trina or Tholliers dialogue.
Just the instructions on how to proceed are fine.
- Anonymous
You can do phase 1 after burning the tree just did it myself
- Anonymous
you dont need to find trina to start the thiollier quest. he moved after i purchased his inventory and was summonable for the putrescent knight
Remember to get the Black Syrup and the Concoction before advancing the St. Trina questline, or you won't be able to complete the Dragon Priestess quest.
The Black Syrup bit should probably be listed before the St. Trina quest for this reason.

i didnt even meet him until i broke the charm rip its over for me
- Anonymous
After the rune breaks, he leaves a message at his original spot saying he has gone south to look for St. Trina. You can summon him against the Putrescent Knight, his sign is in the arena.
- Anonymous
You don't need to burn the Sealing Tree to finish his questline. Just wanted to let y'all know
- Anonymous
You can exhaust his dialogue to the point of "A-ah" before you even burn the tree, it seems. All I know is I went back to him right after getting to that last area and all he'd say was "A-ah".
- Anonymous
I got him and Ansbachs help against the final 2 bosses, and it was the most exciting thing in the dlc for me so far, and thats saying A LOT I loved them
- Anonymous
Wasn't able to tell Thiollier the words of St. Trina for the longest time. Whenever I fought a boss or did something I felt was major, I returned and made sure. I forgot to go back until after I defeated Leda, and now Thiollier is gone. I guess I failed the questline. Very strange that you have such a specific window in time to complete it, otherwise you lose out, even if you've already heard the words of St. Trina, and you're just waiting for the game to allow you to tell them to Thiollier.
- Anonymous
It's a shot in the dark but is it even possible for him to be a Sleep Token reference?
- Anonymous
almost always refuses to enter the boss arena, and sometimes will straight up die while outside of the arena.
- Anonymous
Note that you do not have to actually summon him for him to drop his equipment. I tried it countless times with Ansbach and Thoillier both but the inflated HP pool made it damn near impossible. Tried it with Ansbach alone and was still able to pick up both their equipment afterwards. Maybe you need to only summon him once, and it's enoough even if you don't beat the boss in that attempt, or maybe it's just not necessary in the first place.
- Anonymous
you do not need to return after burning the tree, after you beat him and he has no more dialogue, drink the poison from st trina again, this will give you the last message and you can once again talk to Thollier to get the exact same as if you did it after burning the tree
- Anonymous
"I'm as weak as a kitten" is insane. I would have NEVER thought Elden Ring of all games would have this dialogue

I burned the sealing tree and progressed up to Cleansing Chamber Anteroom in Enir Ilim, didn't go further and decided to kill other bosses. Killed Putrescent Knight and still was able to do first phase of this quest.
- Anonymous
Don’t summon him on the final boss. 70% chance he literally won’t enter the fog gate.
- Anonymous
How do people even find out this questline this early ?
The DLC's been out for two days, I guess people with review copies would try this sort of stuff early.
- Anonymous
man i did his questline before burning the tree, went into Enir-Ilim and found Needle Knight Leda and the gang in a room, and i started it but realized i might need to do a quest first so i died intentionally. Now I can't find Thiollier in St Trinas room... ****ing hell i only interacted with their sign i never killed them
"poison yourself 4 times until you hear the voice of god" okay miyazaki whatever you say
- Anonymous
Wanted to update that buring the sealing tree is entirely unnecessary. Once you get there you can bop out everything you need too.
- Anonymous
summoned him on last fight but this mf just won't enter the fog war? im solo-ing final boss 20% HP already and he just wont come in

Hello thanks so much for your guide. If this info helps on my save after sir Ansbach moves location for the first time I talked to Thiollier and he said hes going south. After that I travelled to the putrescent knight and was able to summon thiollier against the boss. After beating it Thiollier was then in the st Trina room. Just slightly differs from finding st trina first.

as long as you did all the other steps in their quest and beat leda and the gang (i summoned ansbach and thiollier for that fight, not sure if you need to) you'll find ansbach's and thiollier's corpses with their gear in the arena after the final boss. you don't need to summon them for the final boss itself like the guide makes it sound at the time of this comment.
- Anonymous
You dont need to burn the tree to hear his "A-ah...", fix it someone, i dunno how to do it.

Bro there’s no chance that he’ll change location after burn sealing I’m I messed up?
> Um, I'm sorry…but well, I'm not much good at anything, at all. I'm weak as a kitten and thick as two planks. I've always been this way. I'm proficient in poison. Sorry.
Was Boc not enough? How many Redditors are they going to put in this game?
- Anonymous
Can confirm. I summoned them and lost the fight. And then fought alone and won. After reloading their equipment was there. So it seems like as long as you summon them once in one of your attempts, they will show up. Radahn has too much health if you summon. Good idea is to summon them and lose the fight. And then win the fight alone and collect the item drops.
