Omen Cleaver is a Curved Greatsword in Elden Ring. The Omen Cleaver scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for a wielder with great Strength to handle the weight of this weapon and take advantage of its Physical Damage power.

Heavy-bladed curved sword of colossal size awarded to Omen as a tool of war. This weapon is made to take advantage of brute strength.

The pattern etched upon the blade is the remnant of a deteriorating malediction. Indeed, when bestowing a weapon, preparations must be made for taking it away.

Where to Find Omen Cleaver in Elden Ring

The Omen Cleaver weapon can be found at the following location:

Has a chance to drop from Omen enemies wielding it. (4.00% chance)
- You can find an Omen at the heavily guarded courtyard in Stormveil Castle. The nearest checkpoint is the Liftside Chamber site of grace. [Elden Ring Map here]. If the dog is interfering with your farming attempts, equip Beast-Repellent Torch to deal with it.
- Alternately, it is possible to aggro the dog without alerting the Omen by stopping almost at the bottom of the steps and waiting a moment, allowing the player to fight it seperately.

Omen Cleaver can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
This weapon has a unique two-handed R2 shared with Magma Wyrm's Scalesword.
Base drop rate is 4% (at 100 Discovery)
NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below. Additionally, speed, range, recovery time and guard counter speed of Curved Greatsword weapons has increased.

  i killed the dude in stormveil like 50 times and got nothing, decided to go to the abandoned coffin area to try and get warped axe at the same time. killed 8 omen and got 2 warped axes before getting a single omen cleaver.

  The 2h jump R2 animation has some pretty wonky frame data: the R2 cancel window is very late (after the move cancel window, lol), so you can't tap R2 out of 2h jump R2. But the roll cancel window is an absurd 17F earlier than the regular move, so jump->roll spam is extremely effective. Also, tap R2s are 15% stronger than other CGSs and stagger better (damage level 3 instead of 2), and the second CR2 does Lion's Claw stagger. The CGS moveset is a bit samey, so the stronger close-range attacks round it out nicely.

  I had killed this dude around 15 times and he dropped nothing. Is the omen cleaver his only drop? What a idiot, he should drop some crafting item as a consolation reward for not getting what we liked it to drop. The boys drop many rowa fruits and herbs while you don't get their sets and weapons.

  Do you have a favorite weapon? Mine's the Omen Cleaver. It's the reason 90% of my builds start Vagabond for the STR and DEX investment. Fire and Lightning infusions are very nearly straight upgrades to the pure physical infusions, boasting something like 120-140 bonus damage that will easily overcome the split damage issue (unless fighting very resistant bosses). Magic, Sacred, and Flame all excel on caster builds with their high base damage and great scaling. One-handed, you get an identical moveset to the Dismounter or other CGS, but when two-handed the R2 becomes an extremely fast overhead chop with low range but amazing damage, stance damage, and even hyper armor.

  I think the best place to farm this weapon is the Abandoned Coffin area. Believe me, it's really hard to top.
  
  First of all, Abandoned Coffin is a site of grace in southwestern Altus Plateau, and it's the first grace you find after clearing Ruin Strewn Precipice in Northern Liurnia and take the lift up after beating the boss there. That's the only downside—it takes a little work to get there. However, once you're there...
  
  From the Abandoned Coffin site of grace look almost due east and you can see the cleaver-weilding Omen enemy asleep on top of a carriage. Yes, 'asleep.'
  Unguarded. Right next to the Grace...
  
  The reason this spot is the best is because the Omens here aren't super strong like the one in Stormveil feels to me, or the ones in Subterranian Shunning Grounds definitely are. Also, the Omen you'll be farming here is asleep, so you can start the fight off right with a good old charged R2 attack. Big advantage. Also, you can easiy fight and kill this Omen without aggroing any other enemies, let alone an annoying dog. And the cherry on the cake is that to run from the grace to the carriage, jump carefully onto the carriage and sneak up behind the Omen and get your first charged R2 in takes literally 30 seconds. I timed it. No dodging birds or dealing with dogs, and you get the wakeup attack every time if you're even slightly careful not to wake the Omen up when you jump onto the carriage.
  
  It's literally the perfect spot to farm for this weapon.

  The 2-handed R2 comes out extremely fast and does a ton of poise damage. You can stunlock a lot of beefy enemies with it, including knights. It also has good reach, a good moveset, good damage for STR builds, is infusable and buffable. Has the perfect ratio of bonk to swing speed. Great generalist weapon with the option of specializing in stance breaks.

  people are talking about how the two handed R2 is too slow and no one mentions that the two handed jumping R2 does a shitton of poise damage with barely any endlag compared to the jumping R2 on other high poise damage weapons, making it safer to throw out to get through hyper armor

  You can get the Omen Cleaver at level 1 with an unarmed character by rushing to Liurnia, getting to the Cliffbottom Catacombs and finding the one Omen guy with a cleaver there (the other ones have axes). Now the neat part is that you just need to step on a trap plate twice and get out of the way, for the Omen to get killed by the trap. I tried it on a fresh character just to make sure and I got the cleaver in about 15-20 tries. If you do it, make sure to send back the elevator on each try for the next, and you can use the trap to kill your character to get back to the site of grace if you want to keep the runes.
  
  This lets you get the cleaver before Stormveil Castle (or any other content, really), which is nice if you want to main it since it means you can invest your smithing stones into it right away without wasting them on a temporary weapon and then needing to farm more.

  decent weapons but the 2-handed R2s are pretty bad. super short range, whiffs all the time, and isn't particularly impressive in the speed, damage, or stance department. just one hand or powerstance and go to pound town.

  Recommended AoW's:
  
  Lion's Claw - insane nuke damage and once you press L2 nothing is going to knock you out of it
  Vacuum Slice - much more formidable since 1.07. Comes out quick and has a long range, and does absurd damage point-blank
  Barbaric Roar - instant attack buff and trades out the R2's for combo attacks w/ hyperarmor and have great stance-break potential
  Storm Blade - fast-moving projectile that is super cheap to cast and can be used in rapid succession, sort of like a ranged R1
  Stormcaller - basically turns your L2 into an instant f-ck off button, one of the most busted skills in the game honestly

  Since it bears a vague resemblance to a giant, crude katana, I use two of them powerstanced for a much more enjoyable experience than the dual katana powerstance. It's pretty fun. Give it a try! Hopefully you won't go hollow from the farming.

  Got 50k runes farming the omen near the Liftside Chamber grace and got 0 omen cleavers at 117 discovery. Got bored, went to the Altus Highway Junction grace to look for a camp with three omens i remembered to be near, killed the first one and immediately got the cleaver. I'm not saying the wiki is wrong but it probably is

  if ur the metaslave type, this has more base damage + better scaling with sacred infusion than the dismounter while requiring the same stats to wield. at 50 faith it has 33 more AR than the dismounter, but is 1.5 weight heavier.

  Can I just say Quickstep or BH Step looks super sexy on curved greatswords? Attacking right after a quickstep does a crouch attack, and some weapons' crouch attacks are clearly visually designed around being used after a roll, not after a quickstep, so you might have a very jerky transition from one animation to the other, but this one has a really nice looking crouch attack that transitions really nicely out of the quickstep animation. If you ever feel particularly bothered by how ungainly it is to be rolling all the time during fights when you could be gracefully quickstepping, I recommend quickstep on a CGS. Very graceful. This weapon may not be the best example of graceful tho given the Orc Smash r2.

  Why is this a quality weapon of all things when blood/cold infused? Does this thing look like it has anything to do with dex?

  This is pure Strength weapon, despite seemingly Quality scaling. On 40/40 Str and Dex it gets 666 damage two handed and Quality infused. On 60/16 Str Dex it gets 718 damage Heavy infused. Feel the difference. Also, this weapon was made to use Storm Stomp. Heavy infused Omen Cleaver + some resin buff + Storm Stomp + Axe talismsman buffed R2 and you will be sending people back to their worlds in pieces. It slaps. Suggest using Spiked Caestus as your backup weapon for dodgy opponents.

  i like the unique heavy atk on this, great for extending your combo without looking weird. Just 1-3 light atks >heavy> 3 lights feels smooth.

  Great weapon but I really hope we get Sever back as an AOW at some point. I'm pretty sure Omen are made from a repurposed Harald Knight skeleton anyway... Pls From i wanna sever some toes

  As a PvPer, it’s not the best weapon out there… but it’s far from the worst. It’s moveset is quite pleasing to look at and getting hits with it. It has a decent capacity to roll catch, plus the swings are wide, which can discourage aggressive players from fishing for backstabs. BUT. My favorite thing is, you can farm as many as you want. I farmed 10 of them, each with a different ash of war. With a little menu swapping, I’ve been REALLY throwing off peoples rhythm. Keep ‘em guessing I say. This weapon though, has easily made it’s way into my top three favorite weapons to use, along with the caestas, and the uchigatana.

  Crazy good weapon. I've got two of them with seppuku.
  In my case with 50STR/50DEX this weapon has better damage than big hammers with double the weight and half the speed.
  Power stance two of them and jumping attacks staggers almost every enemy in the game - including Malenia. One of better weapons in the game in my opinion.

  Blood infused, wild strikes (this skill provide a little hyper armor enough to tank through low poise damage attacks, like malenia's slashing attacks), ironjar if you need to, melt bosses. Bear witness, Ghiza's wheel! The real chainsaw is here...

  Took 4 hours farming to get two of these swords to dual-wield at stormveil castle, I was so happy. Then I entered Altus plateau where it's littered with the Omen ogres and they drop two more in 10 minutes. FML.

  "Curved Sword of colossal size" is an average sized curved greatsword, "Is made to take advantage of brute strength" has quality scaling on most infusions, yeah very accurate description there.

  My dex build has 80 dex and 20 strength. When lightning infused the omen cleaver has an AR of 823. The lightning cracked tear puts it up to 904 and the buff from lightning slash and the cracked tear puts it up to 1006.

  this is really good str weapon for pvp when heavy infused, its funtionally a greatsword but with messed up hitboxes and a moveset thats harder to dodge, plus the unique r2 combos really well with storm stomp

  Someone needs to come in and clean up all these posts with random attempts and discovery levels. Nobody flippin' cares. RNG IS RNG.
  
  I've had 10 discovery and got ultra rare weapons on first try and I've had max discovery and had to farm for hours. Irrelevant.
  
  Sifting through that garb to find useful comments takes longer than farming the cleaver.
  
  Yeah I get the irony, I just added to the pile. Fight me

  Like the Murakumo before it, this weapon appears to be based on a romanticized design of the zhanmadao, an oversized Chinese curved anti-cavalry sword.
