Weapon Skill: Repeating Thrust, though it comes pre-equipped with the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War.
This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War.
Can be buffed by Magic or Consumables
Rogier's Rapier can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
This weapon has a unique R2 attack, a quick double thrust. Particularly potent with status infusions.
The second earliest +8 infusable weapon a player can acquire, the first being Banished Knight's Halberd +8 obtained by killing Edgar in Castle Morne.
Sell Value: 100 Runes.
NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, the speed of Thrusting Swords' crouching attacks has been reduced. Poise damage has also been reduced, but only for PVP.
NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.
NOTE: Patch 1.13 Increased poise damage of dual wield attacks of all Thrusting Swords (in PVP)

  I prefer this with a Keen affinity over other weapons like the Antspur Rapier because of the quick double-hit R2. You can put rot grease, Bloodflame Blade, Black Flame Blade, poison/frost grease or buffs, and have them all apply really quickly. Allows you to keep the Ash of War for something else instead of a multi-hit AoW which costs FP to use. Much cheaper to use this and just use the multi-hit R2. A brilliant weapon.

  for non-ailment builds: higher AR (481) when two handing if you have 60/17 str/dex heavy infused as opposed to 17/60 keen netting 460. you can get each at lvl 59 with vagabond and warrior respectively

  One of the most beautiful weapons in the game fr. If u want some epic drip,? What I did was pairing it with a dex/fth build, alberich's set without hat, and use lightning infusion on the rapier, coupled with red lightning incants. The demigods will have to bow to that thunderous aura

  I had a save for helping early game players.
  Sunk 37 hours into it and fought for my life through Radahn, Mohg, and the dlc at lvl ~25 and +3 weapons cause I wanted beast claws and milady.
  Talked to Rogier one time and bro ruined all of that lol.

  Maybe I'm weird, but after 350hrs this is my favourite weapon simply for that R2. Plus rapiers are my favourite sword.
  The way I use this is high Dex/int, keen Rogiers rapier, scholars Arnement, all multihit buffs and I'm beating everything. Also it's so pretty

  This is a dragon killer, one of my victim was Bayle the Dread. Infuse it with Glintblade Phalanx, very good to combo hit dragons and break their stance, resulting = RIP-oste.

  Chilling Mist Cold infusion on a dex build for this is damn amazing. I've taken 21 int to help boost its damage, as well as give me some secondary useful spells to accompany it while I wield this with a shield. You're just able to apply, then reapply the frost condition so quickly with this. Plus the shield pokes and counter attack damage isn't bad either. My new favourite weapon.

  If you don’t tell Rogier that you defeated Godrick before advancing his quest to the point he drops his armor set and bell bearing, Rogier’s Rapier +8 will drop alongside Rogier’s Letter, immediately after picking up his armor set. If you want to avoid getting the +8 weapon, you can still pick up his armor set but do NOT pick up the letter afterwards.

  I love this weapon mechanically, it works perfectly for a mage/duellist. I just wish it had a more rapier-like guard. With wide quillions and a swept hilt, or a bell guard. Hopefully they offer something similar in the DLC.

  The big deal of this long rapier is that the heavy attacks are series of quick double stabs which comes out nearly as fast as the light attacks of the thrusting swords, probably about as fast as the initial delayed light attack of the first stab of them and way faster than their regular heavy attack. This long rapiers double heavy attack with forward motion will also catch people out of roll dodge on the second stab if your initial distance was right. With a not str focused build, I've taken using this over cleanrot and rely on pretty much near always using the non charged heavy attacks that reliably stagger most players in armor and poisebreak bosses quick since the problem you may run with cleanrot and other thrusting swords is that if you don't stagger people, you may end up trading your one hit for their uninterrupted reactionary attack or their second attack if you dodged and attacked after their first. With this rapier, add some lingering pressure AoW and spells like the glintblade phalanx it comes with and so on to bait people into rushing things, then control the situation with your long range, quick hit and recovery traits as you dodge and heavy attack them into submission very effectively.

  R2 was indeed nerfed from 90+90 status MV to 65+65 for all r2's. It is still 30% better than the other rapiers but still a heavy nerf to the status playstyle. This being tacked onto the seppuku nerf, bleed rogier's is dead

  Storm stomp true combos both hits of r2 for incredible damage for 80+110 motion value compared to cleanrots 130 mv. Even with cleanrot providing ~30 more AR on most infusions as +25 the rogiers r2 will do significantly more damage and comes out in only 5 frames. Excellent tool for those who will learn how to make use of it.

  tap r2 is ****ing schnasty. double hit, comes out immediately, good range, etc. plus, if you do a lot of r2s in pvp, start charging them, and they'll try to go for high-investment moves, which is when you pull out the backstep r2 cancel. does around as much damage as 2 r1s. ****ed up.

  I just dont understand. All those cool dex weapons almost deal no Poise damage. The damage in general is often mediocre as well. Dex Weapons rely on fancy status effects to make a difference.
  
  While str Weapons are a bit slower, but they hit so much harder, do good poise damage rewarded with a riposte. Mind you, str weapons can be infused to inflict status effects as well.
  
  That makes Dex Weapons that cant inflict Status effects borderline useless. You dont get to riposte them (unless you parry) because you do no poise damage, you cant inflict something to make damage, with weapons like this Rapier, all you do is whittle at their health until they die. A shame, it is, what it is.

  Rogier's Rapier has the same Dexterity requirement as Wing of Astel. Very good for pure caster builds if you want to invest a couple points into dexterity :)

  If you wanted a thrusting sword to be an ash of war wand, this is your best bet. Fai and Int hits B scaling early. This results in a particularly high scaling at +25. Now go show the world your golden cheeks with your offrog.

  A common misconception:
  This won't affect your multiplayer that much, it's a +8 NORMAL weapon, not special.
  I verified on a save where I got it.
  If you're an invader on limgrave, you might want to avoid getting it, but after that you're completly safe.
  Same for the Banished Knight's Halberd

  on my first character (melee focused) on my first playthrough, this was my og to weapon, I modified it for frost build up, & it was the first weapon I maxed out with smithing stones, even after I've finished the main campaign & am clearing up all the stuff I missed/left unfisished this weapon is still a mainstay, its just so solid.

  I'm having so much fun with this weapon paired with Black Flame Blade, a light roll setup and Blue Dancer Charm. At level 125, +25 with 76 dex and 30 faith (and the Charm) this thing hits for 535, with Godslayer Seal's BFB buff, 659. (I try to hit the under 15 equip load for decent benefit from Dancer, it gives somewhere around 50+ damage with my setup). My "armor" is just the Old Aristocrat Cowl and Aristocrat Garb. If you can't tell by now, I play like an absolute crazy person, lol. Staying at 50 vigor is nice to survive MOST things, especially with Black Flame Protection, but I'll try to explain my playstyle/reasoning more if you're interested. You can wear whatever you like, and you should use armor if you like not dying to 3-man blenders and such. Finally, the last benefit of this setup is sometimes using Bestial Sling, which comes out crazy fast with the over 70 dex casting cap, if youre standing still/walking and just not running. Blue Charm buffs the damage. This is also mostly from a PVP standpoint.
  
  Is this the strongest weapon, or even thrusting sword out there? No, probably not. An estoc has better reach, and of course the Cleanrot Sword outperforms it in damage as well. This does boost a nice 110 crit, which no other thrusting sword has besides of course the rapier's very nice 130. It's still a very noticeable damage boost if you do like fishing backstabs, or get a parry off (I'll talk more about that later).
  
  But what this weapon does have, is insane mixup potential. The R2 is a quick, two-hit successive attack, and comes out noticeable faster than even an R1. This means you can do some interesting things, such as R1 into R2, which will catch someone that rolled into you after the first R1, or perhaps simply tried to out-space you, as it has a nice step forward/body lunge for extra reach. Another thing to add to the mixup arsenal is the feint/backstep slash, where you hold R2 and the bacsktep button at the same time. All thrusting swords can do this, of course, but an UNCHARGED R2, into backstep thrust with this is one of the fastest mixups you'll ever see in this game. Most people will attempt to run at you after seeing this, assuming you didnt just straight up hit them for 3 attacks, and an R1 right away will cause you to running attack poke right at them. It's great.
  
  So what about BFB? Well, it's not the greatest either for it's own reasons, mainly because it lasts quite short (around 8 seconds). I pair it with Old Lord talisman for an extra 2-3 seconds of uptime. But this is MORE than enough time to be the most annoying, hit and run, pressure-heavy little **** with running pokes, jumping pokes and the R1/R2 mixups I mentioned before. The R2 can also help keep the debuff pressure on if used correctly. the lingering flame is a 2% hp burn, which may not be much, but with a fast, pressure applying weapon like this, it adds up FAST, ontop of the very decent damage you're doing as mentioned before. Tip: learn to rollcatch. This weapon is good at that with running R1. Normally 14 mind is enough for almost every duel/invasion I've done. 9 uses without a blue chug, so make them count.
  
  The last thing I guess I wanted to cover is getting the crit. I'll be honest, I never bothered to learn parry in this game because of the insane damage risk if you **** up, it's much higher a risk than any other souls game, especially if you dont wear armor like me lol. But I'm learning it now, and for reference, tested against the big omens in sewer swamp, a riposte deals around 1820 damage, and 2089 with BFB buff, not including the varying degrees of the after-burning damage depending on the target. (which was around 200 damage more for those big boys). I didn't cover good ashes of war for this because I use the parry ash of war for this, and I'm sure there are very good ones. Even the glintblade one that comes with this rapier is nice, the little magic daggers can even apply black flame if you have the BFB buff active, and the R2 lunge followup can hit HARD. Use a buckler for much easier parries if you plan to, or a shield with carian retaliation. I just like to stay light as possible.
  
  That's pretty much it. Thanks if you actually read all that. And give the weapon a try however you like, this is just how I play, really.

  If you're pure dex players who use keen affinity, use this one or Estoc, not Cleanrot. Personally, I prefer Rogier more than Estoc because its double thrust from heavy attack is so good.

  Although this weapon is classy and comes pre-upgraded, the cleanrot knight sword is more or less a direct upgrade. Not a bad pick if you hate farming cleanrot knights, though.

  I'm wondering if this still drops when he just dies later in his quest? I'd like to do a low level sorcery focused invader, so I want to get his set, but not get the rapier.

  Been lvling and testing all weps with S/A heavy scaling and can honestly say this with Aow craigsblade on a pure str build does damage and will poise through anything with the charged r2

  One of the most beautiful weapons in this game!
  It's the ultimate Elden Bling for any light armor, fast attack speed connoisseur.
  
  Pair this with Cleanrot Knight Sword or a second Roger's Rapier, put Bloodhounds Step on it and pair it with anything that goes well with the Lord's of bloods Robe. The style and gameplay makes it feel like playing Bloodborne. I LOVE IT!
  
  Oh btw, this beauties R2s come out incredible fast. Even fully charged the attacks come of pretty quickly and often combo into each other in PvE. The R2 also seems to have amazing Poise break for a poker. 3 Fully charged R2s usually break Poise on everything that's not a super elite mob. Really interesting imo.

  To anyone, like me, on alt, trying to stay in low-lvl range: If you don't talk to Rogier in Roundtable about beating up Godrick, he won't give you his rapier. If you push his questline forward, up to the point he dies, he will leave his armor and bell-bearings - as always. But, he also has another item to pick up. I would assume that is Rogier's Rapier +8. (didn't pick it up, because I don't want to roll back my save, so I'm not sure, but what else could he drop, really) Luckily, those aren't combined, like in case of Edgar, so you can still get the set while not breaking your summon range permanently. Still, remember to would backup your save when picking armor/bellbearings up, because I have no idea if I was lucky that this was first thing I picked or if it's random, because you obviously don't know what you're picking up before pillaging. Enjoy your low level coop/invasions!

  Anyone know if tapping the heavy attack for the double strike it does actually does more bleed buildup than a normal light attack? It strikes twice so I thought it would be it doesn't actually seem to.

  Outclassed by the cleanrot knight's sword and the etoc when it comes to damage, but I think the amazing r2 makes up for it. Great damage, comes out quicker than a r1 somehow, builds up status effects faster, and staggers enemies way better than the r1's. Has been an amazing backup weapon for my mage build so far

  Truly excellent for PvE bleed/status builds if you need a shield for a boss/encounter. Chaining an R2 into your first R1 hit has very minimal delay, and is an excellent was to sneak in damage/status buildup quickly during small attack windows. Works after a shield poke too.
  
  Compared to the estoc, it loses a bit in the reach + damage department, but very minor difference. It’s also 1.0 units lighter, and sometimes that makes all the difference in your load out.

  They need to patch out these upgraded weapons as rewards. I got a Banished Knight Halberd +8 that messed up the matchmaking as well.

  Why would this get “A” scaling and also more base damage when infused with Heavy? Usually if a weapon has higher scaling with something it will have lower base damage.

  I absolutely love the fact that a weapon that doesn't deal much poise damage comes with a skill that can easily brake stance of anything with 1-2 casts and 2-3 on bosses. Given all blades actually land, of course.
  I've been using it pretty consistently in PvE and had a ton of fun with just staggering enemies left and right spamming a skill that seemingly scales better on my current build than its sorcery counterpart at a much lesser FP cost, no less.

  This weapon is amazing in PvP. Ever since I switched to whip (urumi) for my range I don't need another longer range weapon like estoc, instead I was looking for good weapons for rolling into the enemies attacks to get right next to them. When right up against the enemy and you perform a heavy attack with this thing, they can react to it, but by slightly charging it you can catch them at the end of their roll. There aren't many weapons with the reach to catch an enemy at the end of their roll on a charged attack (which allows you to delay the hit for after invulnerability frames); this is my favorite of the weapons that do.

  The super fast double-hitting R2s are good not just for status build-up, but also for the flat damage from weapon enchantment buffs (Greases, Bloodflame Blade, Scholar's Armament, etc.). Seems like a pretty effective, if kind of boring, option if you want to get the most out of a build focused on buffing your weapon and running in and out for quick pokes with R2.

  I’ve had a lot of successs with this in pvp. I added the sidestep ashes of war, close the distance do an r1 followed by an r2, pretty good combo.

  I opened up task manager and managed to forcibly shut down the game without it saving, but am now TERRIFIED that I'm gonnna pick up a +2 - +25 weapon down the line somewhere. Is there a definitive list of items to avoid? Honestly I had this week off work and almost lost 78 hrs of character progression. Seems like a blatant oversight considering matchmaking. Either that, or a rather frustrating attempt to force out low level invaders that still managers to screw over low level pve players like myself.

  Reminder that the +24 version of this weapon has better scaling and base damage (at least with keen) than the +25 version. don't waste your dragon smithing stones untill they fix it.

  Someone please change the name of the weapon to Rogier's Rapier+8 to let people know that this comes pre-upgraded and there's no way to obtain an un-upgraded version, otherwise people are going to get confused and think this is the best Rapier damage wise when it's actually one of the worst when fully upgraded.

  Twinks are a staple of the souls series. It's like a right of passage in these games. I remember being new in DS1 and got curb stomped by some dude in super cool armor and weapons outside of gargoyles. I thought it was awesome and ended up being that guy myself. It's a huge part of the game and should be.
