ELDEN RING SMARAG'S GLINSTONE BREATH NOTES AND TIPS

  • Updated to Patch 1.10. See Patch Notes for details.
  • In the Colosseum, if the opponent is spacing the dragon breath out of its range or putting pressure by interrupting your dragon breath, use Swarm of Flies. Most opponents will run away from the attack, causing them to lose stamina and give you space to do a dragon breath.
  • To prevent the opponent from constantly interrupting your dragon breath, use Endure. With all dragon breaths having a 2.5-second wind-up and Endure having a 3-second duration it will give you enough time to do a dragon breath in the air. However, you will not have enough time to swap into a Dragon Communion Seal on both hands if you want the full wind-up duration to be protected by Endure.

this is so not worth using at all, mountain top of the giants on a giant enemy, it does only 300 dmg (5100) more than lesser version that does 4800 dmg, its not worth the 12fp honestly and on some enemies it ticks less times than lesser glinstone breath, named breaths are a downgrade in every sense of the word

While people have yet to retire Rotten/Frost Breath, THIS is the no-nonsense Glintstone Breath with high burst damage and at least three ticks. Jump up and fry that guy climbing a ladder or 2-3 gankers on the lower floor.

This has been my go to boss melter. It's almost too easy now especially with Mimic Tear +10. I'm on NG with 57 arcane and 28 Dex using Dragon Communion Seal +10. Melted Morgott, Mohg (both versions), Godfrey (in Leyndell) and a few dragons. Send in Mimic to distract bosses while spewing dragon breath. Easy mode. Think will have to try without summons although I'm nowhere near skillful enough.

Why does it say "Full cast requires at least 78 FP but will use up to 144 FP with no additional benefit before any FP-conservating buffs."? The spell doesn't seem to stop damaging enemies or anything like that after the first full cast, Am confused.

            • Smarag's Glintstone Breath - Pure dmg build (99 Fai / 99 Int / 47 Arc)
              - Armor set: none requiered
              - Weapons: JellyFish Shield, any staff, Dragon Seal +10
              - Talisman: Ritual Sword, Scorpion charm (Fire + Magic), Godfrey Icon
              - Cracked Tear: Magic and Fire dmg buff
              - Incantations/spells: Golden Vow, Terra Magica, Flame Grant Me Strength

              Overview:
              +10% Dragon Seal
+20% Jellyfish Shield skill "Contagious Fury"
              +35% Terra Magica
+24% scorpion charms (both magic and fire)
              +10% Golden Vow
              +20% Flame Grant Me Strength
+40% Cracked Tear (holy + magic buff)
              +10% Ritual Sword talisman
              +15% Godfrey Icon

              Output (Journey 9):
14,800~ dmg against regular enemies and limegrave trolls
Note: As i was unforthunately at only 47 Arcane at the time of testing this build
(lacking 60 pts in scaling, in other words 14%~ less dmg) and missing the Magic Scoprion charm, the talisman was
replaced with flock canvas (+8%) and as a result, the build can in theory deal an additional 18% more dmg at its full potential

              ***Conclusion***
This is by far the most powerfull incantation build i have found in term of pure damage, possibly even surpassing the commet
azur build. Incredibly powerfull in term of damage, range and control, this build is extremly satisfying to use in pve and pvp
if uninterrupted. Note: Interestingly enough, it appear that this incantation is not only affected by Magic buffs but also by Fire
              buffs as well!

This incantation is therefore by far superior to other Dragon Communion Incantations in term of pure damage.

              • This does more damage than agheel's breath straight up. Tested on giant first, did more then tested on one of the mages in raya lucaria that are resistant to magic and it did slightly more than same damage as agheel's breath that time.

You do get to buff catch flame and stuff if you use agheel's though with the physick.

Damage got nerfed today in 1.07 for PvP only. Interesting. Has anyone tested and compared old breath to the new?

Its nice to have an incantation that provides magical damage, there arent that many, and pure magic damage is particularly strong on heavy armoured players in pvp, same with lightning

What do you guys think of this incantation? on most occasions Agheel's fire does the same or more damage (like vs tree avatars) for less FP. If the enemy resists fire then you can just go with the scarlet rot breath instead.

Been using this with the Marais Executioner’s Sword for pvp since both benefit from the magic cracked tear and scorpion charm, and have had a lot of success. Can easily one shot someone if their guard is down or they have low vigor

                        • Anonymous

Would this benefit from Ranni's Dark Moon magic resist shred? If so that would make it ideal for Int/Faith builds

I like this incantation due to the damage, but its like setting off a flash bang if you play in a dark room…

                            • Anonymous

This is probably the best of the Dragon Spells for straight damage in pvp. Due to natural resistances and armor, MOST people will have lower magic defense than fire, as fire is attached to vigor, which everyone should have 60 of. While on the flip side, magic resistance is tied to Intelligence, and typically those who invest into the magics are squishier, so it should even out. When it comes to armor, magic is usually the second worst elemental stat they have as well, while fire is typically pretty good. The only reason to use Agheel's Flame over this is if you plan to make use of buffs/fire crystal tear in your physick, as Incanters are more likely to be using fire damage over magic (obviously), but in the odd scenario you decide to use a physick with magic damage attached, this will be extremely potent. Last but not least, it looks way cooler than normal fire.

People calling this bad.. no its almost like all the dragon spells are made for most situations weak to magic ? This is then a nuke

Dunno why people hate on the glintstone breaths. I've tested them on a few normal (soldier of godrick, etc) enemies, and they consistently deal the most damage for me (not counting the scarlet rot/frost procs). And magic damage is actually great in this game (compared to other Souls games) as there are very few enemies, outside of Raya Lucaria, who are at all resistant to it. It also works with the magic-shrouding cracked tear, giving you +20% damage for 3 minutes. With a +10 dragon communion seal in one hand and a weapon with royal knight's resolve in the other hand, you'll literally melt bosses in one full cast.

What are some of you on about? This is among the best breaths especially against enemies with a weakness to magic.

                                      • Anonymous

This spell is very niche, as its base damage is lower compared to other breaths but it allows for access to magic damage for incantation users! Which is very good in some scenarions where the enemy is weak to magic.

From what I tested compared to the other breathes, this one is very bad. Even the basic ice breath deals more damage + does ice proc over 2 breathes, and rot breath is obviously the best.
