Fire's Deadly Sin is an Incantation in Elden Ring. Fire's Deadly Sin spell covers both the player and the area with flames

Incantation originating from a deeply ominous prophecy.

Sets both the caster and the surrounding area ablaze with raging flames. The caster's body will remain engulfed in flame for a while, burning them and any who draw near. Charging enhances potency.

The prophet despaired, looking up at the Erdtree, for soon the kindling would burst into flame, bringing ruin.

"The burning of the Erdtree is the first cardinal sin. That is not the domain of mere men."

I'm guessing the game has been completely pieced apart but this having nothing to do with burning the erdtree has erred me tremendously

A kid tried to kill me with this incantation and the bleed glitch, but my +140 robustness talisman and my good amount of HP were enough to survive and he died a minute later. Don't be scared of this incantation guys, don't panic dodge and just attack.

This should increase the fire damage you deal by a fair bit, would make it worth more than exploit cheese

Daily reminder that if Fromsoft didn't want you to use the spell interaction, they'd have patched it out with the deathblight bug. Bathe in the salty tears of your foes and know that father Miyazaki is pleased with your sacrament

People who invade low level player with this thing using the bleed bug. Wow, what a wonderful community sometimes

Use this with Dual Frozen Curved Sword. The running L1 will proc Frost and this will instantly reset it.

                Rinse and Repeat.

                • Summoned someone named "Burn Victim" for Godrick today because they looked interesting. They had no armour, a seal, and a straight sword, and had all their body sliders set to zero.

While we fought the boss, they cast this spell and then used Blackflame Blade, but never attacked (from what I could see). They just ran around him and used the Blackflame glitch to melt Godrick's healthbar.

Unfortunately, they got grabbed right at the end and died just before I landed the killing blow. Godspeed, Burn Victim; you were ever true to your name lmao

I wonder, does this keep an enemy’s poise from regenerating, bc if so, this with misciorde and the redmane fire aow would be great

not sure why but If you have Bloodflame buff on your weapon Fire's Deadly Sin applies blood loss to the enemy. You can get a hemorrhage every few seconds by just standing in melee range of the enemy without attacking. (patch 1.04.1)

                        • Another example of a wiki page written by Americans confusing everyone else in the world - the Flightless Bird painting is on the Ground floor, not the First floor. It's in the same room as the site of grace (the equivalent of the room with the Cipher Pata in it from Roundtable Hold.)

As of 1.05, some of what works on this has changed. Here's a list based on my testing:
Thing's I've tested that *do* apply:
                                - Talismans that boost damage: fire scorpion charm, godfrey icon (only if charged), red-feathered branchsword, lord of blood's exultation, kindred of rot's exultation
                                - Incantation buffs that apply a special status: bloodflame blade, black flame blade (only applies status, doesn't increase damage)
                                - Status-inflicting buffs from SOME NON-UNIQUE weapon skills: poisonous mist, chilling mist (repeatedly procs frostbite!), but NOT seppuku
                                - The fire-shrouding cracked tear
                                - Aura buffs, such as golden vow or rallying standard
                                - The jellyfish shield's contagious fury skill
                                - Other equipment buffs, such as the twinbird kite shield, white mask, and mushroom crown

                                Things that *do not* apply:
                                - Great stars/butchering knife heals on hit (removed in this patch, if earlier comments are correct)
                                - Straightforward damaging buffs from spells, consumables, or ashes of war, such as lightning weapon, fire grease, or sacred blade
                                - Status-inflicting buffs from spells or consumables, such as poison weapon or rot grease
                                - Status-inflicting buffs from *unique* weapon skills (as best I can tell), such as the eclipse shotel's death flare or the dragonscale blade's ice lightning sword.
                                - Seppuku's weapon buff.

Base damage is 5 per tick uncharged, 9 per tick charged on the celebrants in windmill village who have 0 fire absorption according to datamined stat sheets.
With the jellyfish shield, golden vow, fire scorpion charm, godfrey's icon, red branchsword, blood exultation and white mask triggered with seppuku, the fire cracked tear, and the twinbird kite shield, I got 33 damage per tick, which is almost *four times* the base and only slightly less than the max as far as I know (would require using rot exultation instead of fire scorpion charm).
I made a contact damage only build with the briar set and some of the above. The weapon buffs make the build WAY more effective, but are likely exploits, so only use them in PvE if you choose to. Hope this helped some of you who also want to minmax this janky spell!

Proceeds to get proc'd faster and now eating double damage
"Ah yes, Dragon Kin, I, too, feel the weight of immortality bearing upon me"

Fire damage removes frost build-up AND the frostbite proc, if you hit an enemy with frostbite, and it procs, then hit them with any kind of fire, it immediately melts off, wasting the frostbite, im wondering if casting this spell on yourself will also accomplish the same thing and make you immune to frostbite build-up for its duration, same for Fire Cleanse Me secretly doing the same thing since it deals a small tick of fire damage when used.

Ill have to confirm this later after i get my new PC and can get hands on the game again.

Did some testing on the buff (As a response to a previous comment, but replies on this site have non-existent formatting):

The buff ticks every 0.5 seconds.

Self damage is 3 per tick uncharged and 4 per tick charged. This self damage is not actually damage, but rather, negative regen so it is unaffected by damage negations.

Buff is unaffected by incant scaling. Testing with 99 Fth Erdtree Seal +10 (367 Inc Scal) and Finger Seal +0 (183 Inc Scal) it did the same damage.

Damage of the buff is 6 damage per tick uncharged and 10 per tick charged.

The damage is affected by Golden Vow, Fire Scorpion Charm and Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear.

It is NOT affected by Canvas Talismans (I checked with Golden Vow too to see if it was perhaps just not showing the damage increase because 8% of 10 damage would be 0.8 which would likely get rounded down. With Golden Vow's 15% damage increase, that 8% would stack to push it over 20% which would provide a full interger increase. But alas it did nothing)

Each source of damage increase (The talisman, the physick and the buff) increases the damage by 1 point uncharged and 2 points charged:

                                        Uncharged: 6 damage
                                        With Flame Scorpion: 7 damage
With Flame Scorpion and Physick: 8 damage
With Flame Scorpion, Physick and Golden Vow: 9 damage

                                        Charged: 10 damage
                                        With Flame Scorpion: 12 damage
With Flame Scorpion and Physick: 14 damage
With Flame Scorpion, Physick and Golden Vow: 16 damage

The maximum damage I was able to achieve was 19 damage per tick using Flame Scorpion Talisman, Flame-Shrouded Cracked Tear, Rallying Standard and Shriek of Milos.

Before you ask, no, it is not affected by Flame, Grant Me Strength, as both are body buffs and so they remove each other when cast.

Does the damage caused by the buff increase with higher spell buff/fire physick/canvas talismans, or is it a set value?

                                          • Honestly I'd be fine with them keeping the bloodflame interaction if they severely toned down the rate builds up, as of now it's way too fast.

Fun thing to do with this spell:

Buff up, then go stand next to small Miranda plants.

Enjoy the song of their people.

So besides the ign build applications for this thing, what is it actually used for? It’s a body buff so it cancels out other body buffs, does damage to yourself, and when not exploiting it only does small damage to enemies or other players. It looks cool but I’ve yet to find an actual use for it, if anyone has tips for using this I’d love to hear them

I wish they fixed the glitch. I badly want to use it to remove frostbite for my frostflame knight build, but dont want to cheese with my ash of war of choice.

This can be used to kill Graven-Mass Sorceress Sellen in Raya Lucaria Grand Library in a non-attack zone (Renalla on the other hand doesn't take dmg). She awards a whole 1200 runes and nothing else.

So I’ve been enjoying the initial explosion in pvp, it’s wayyyy wider and faster than people expect... it also looks like fire pillars so they try to cancel it. Does anybody know if this is boosted by giants seal? Lot of confusion and contradiction regarding fire monk incantations vs fire giant worship vs prophets’ prophecies.

For some reason, if I have Bloodflame on my weapon, This incantation will proc bleed even if I haven't swung at all.
It makes me proc bleed insanely fast with Bloodflame alone on a non-Arcane build.

Seems to sometimes cause pve enemies to lock up when they get hit by the flames and your weapon at the same time. The self damage is no problem since I always carry Bestial Vitality.

                                                              • Anonymous

This incan still applies most weapon effects to the fiery AoE in patch 1.04. If you buff your weapon with Black Flame Blade or Bloodflame Blade, it'll apply both as it burns around you. It also applies healing effects such as the 1% heal per hit of the Great Stars and Butchering Knife.

Feels particularly useful with Great Stars and Prelate's Charge. Heavy infuse with Bloodflame Blade and you can stagger, bleed, burn, and heal with both the weapon art and this ticking around you.

                                                                • Anonymous

this is supposed to be paired with a frost weapon. Frost buildup will reset since you deal fire damage all around you

                                                                  • Anonymous

This spell has its niche uses. By itself it's lackluster. Tiny damage while hurting yourself? Pass. But when used with a frostbite weapon, it allows frostbite to work like bleed. The AoE fire effect will dispel frostbite on your target and allow you to reapply it, dealing the burst damage over again. I found it particularly useful by pairing an inherit frostbite weapon like Dragonscale Katana with a blood infused Uchigatana. Apply both their statuses consistently and since they're different status ailments, bosses don't build up a high tolerance fast like how bleed does with more and more bleed bar required every time it procs. Also removes frostbite on yourself, which is nice.

                                                                    • Anonymous

With the Fire Scorpion charm and the fire attack cerulean tear this make for a very aggressive catch flame build.

                                                                      • Anonymous

I don't get this spell. Damage is atrocious, not to mention you hurt yourself using it. The only use this seems to have which is mentioned no where in its description or anywhere else, is to continously apply status affect buffs of your weapon. This was later confirmed as a bug and fixed which is why it doesn't work with deathblight anymore yet it works with the other status effects. Is using it this way an exploit?

Realistically both in PvP and PvE it's garbage though outside of VERY rare situations. But it's funny and cool, so it has that going.

I know the burn won't get stronger but if it makes my weapon attacks stronger, this could be useful for heavy, slow-hitting weapons.

                                                                                          • Completely Slept On! Despite igniting the player it actually is not counted as a "Buff" and will not override any other Self Buff like Golden Vow. Run It with Godfrey's Icon to boost the continual fire damage up close and run a Lance. Why? Because running R2's will Stagger, Deal at least 2 ticks of damage before the big thrust AND this thing will do 3 tick of damage ON TOP! Can literally MELT invaders and tough enemies.

Could the DoT increase if you ignite your weapon with fire from this AoW

But this also mean Flame Cleanse Me will become giga cure for almost all status effect, maybe increase Flame Cleanse Me self damage to balance it?

I could be wrong but I dont know of any other item in the game referencing events as you cause them.

And, if they did consider those to also be "exploits" and remove this spell's interaction with them as well, then can someone explain what the hell this spell is supposed to do normally?

Like, just a brief point-blank AoE spell that lights you on fire for no reason? Personally to me it feels totally intentional that it works with Bloodflame and Blackflame, especially because this spell will remove ANY defensive buffs you have from other spells like Barrier of Gold or Black Flame's Protection, meaning using this spell instead of a defensive buff is a tactical decision.

I really don't think those interactions should be removed. The deathblight interaction was stupid and had to go for sure.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Combined with a weapon that does bleed as well its a deadly combo.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

It will then immediately remove the Frostbite status after proc and can then be quickly applied again, allowing for rapid Frostbite proc heath drain. Only real downside is that Chilling Mist doesn’t last very long.
