Guardian's Swordspear is a Halberd in Elden Ring. The Guardian's Swordspear scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity. It is a good Weapon for Dexterity builds.

Weapon comprising a long handle and broad blade sharpened from the hard wood of old trees.

Wielded by guardians of the Minor Erdtrees, known as experts in the arts of combat. The power of this weapon scales greatly with dexterity.

A good place to farm this is around Minor Erdtree Church in Altus Plateau. There are 6 guardians around the church.

Weapon Skill: Spinning Slash.
This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War.
Guardian's Swordspear can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones
This weapons has massive scaling with Dexterity on the Keen affinity, so much so that a +25 Keen Swordspear will have higher AR at 99 Str/Dex than a +25 Quality Swordspear (813 vs 776 AR). Letter scaling continues to be misleading since it produces more AR with Dexterity on Keen (813) than than the two S-Scaling Halberds in the game do when they are used in one hand, those being heavy infused Gargoyle's Halberds(752) and Nightrider's Glaives(747) at 99 STR, they get more AR than Swordspear when two handed.
The Keen infusion on this weapon will also produce more AR than the Lightning infusion at 74 dexterity and above. The extra AR overshadows any possible benefits of having split damage on a weapon, even at low levels where split damage is less detrimental.
Has a middling range compared to other halberds, being slightly above average length.
Has a unique moveset compared to other halberds, shared with the Loretta's War Sickle. Regular Light attacks (one-handed, two-handed and off-handed) are upward slashes, finished by a horizontal slice. Heavy attacks are the same as the default halberd moveset.
Dual wielding two of these does not provide a unique moveset.

Base drop rate is 2% (at 100 Discovery).

  outside the sheer numbers involved with its dex scaling this weapon is pretty overrated imo. They should call it the Guardian WhiffSpear, that jumping Heavy is awful and seems to miss normal sized enemies 50% of the time. The general R1 spam is like normal longsword movesets but slower. You're better off with any Twinblade.

  The problem with this weapon is that it's so versatile and strong, I never wanted to use anything else for my main.
  It slashes, it pokes, it double-windmill slaps on the charged heavy, you get to use those spear AoW while slashing as fast as a sword for R1s.
  Honestly my favorite dex build weapon so far!

  You kind of have to treat this more like a straight sword with a long reach than a normal halberd. Unlike other halberds, medium-sized enemies do not flinch as often from light attacks, but due to the nuclear-sized damage this does on Keen affinity, most enemies on normal NG will die fast enough .

  High poise damage of halberds, high speed, high damage, good scaling, hyperpoise of halberd swings, handy moveset of thrusts and somewhat wide arcs. Allows you to infuse it with your choice of AoW. What it doesnt have however is range. Though if it had the range it would be riddiculusly good and overshadow nearly everything. The short range makes is somewhat useless, it kind of feels rather too short actually.. you really have to get in to make it connect. Big bosses, mobile bosses and players will have you missing a lot, and you wont trade well, because nearly all weapons people use to trade have much bigger reach to this.

  Worth noting that this trivializes pumpkinheads. Your swings start from the ground and go up so you'll never hit their stupid helmets and always get full damage

  Very solid weapon - Dex scaling is so high on Keen affinity that it'll cause a damage upgrade even at minimal stat requirements. The only thing I'd change is for it to have at least one stationary poke - either R1 or R2, or even a shield-poke. The only poke moves it has by default are the running R1 and backstep R1, which are better than nothing, but can be a bit clunky to use in a lot of situations.
  
  You can put Impaling Thrust on it, which sort-of solves this problem provided you have the FP to spare, but IMO, just one standing thrust attack would bring this from 'very good' to 'basically perfect'.

  This weapon is at its strongest powerstanced (in PvE) because you get to keep the unique one-handed moveset, but also add a massively damaging, massively staggering jump attack that was missing from this kit.
  
  The jump attack in terms of speed and damage is very comparable to those of other great weapons. A short comparison:
  
  1) It has some of the highest damage, equal to that of executioner greataxe. Of all the great weapons, the only ones that can outpeform the swordspear in damage is the Bloodhound's Fang and the Rusted Anchor, when counter damage is involved.
  
  2) Has increadible range, only being outdone by other Halberds
  
  3) Has the highest stagger. Greataxes and Greathammers powerstanced do less stagger (damage level 2) with their jump attacks that Halberds, Greatswords and Curved Greatswords (damage level 3).
  
  4) Has tiny poise damage. Greathammers do literally double the poise damage of Halberds, making this the main comparative weakness of this weapon type. Don't expect to poisebreak stuff with jump attacks, switch to 2-handed charged attacks for those opponents that really need to be posebroken, like Land Octapi or Crystalians.

  Despite the fun, unique moveset, this thing is a certified whiff machine. In my experience, the 1H moveset is quite a lot better than the 2H moveset, especially the charged R2, but it's still not fantastic. Overall, there are much worse weapons to use than this, and it's a "good" weapon, but outside that, there's really nothing special going on with this thing.

  Easily one of the most fun weapons to play with in the entire game, PvE or PvP. Entire moveset is tits, looks dope af, it's fast, does great damage with any infusion, range is great and it can take some of the best AoW's in the game - particularly Giant Hunt. 100/10 weapon

  If I may be honest, this thing and Bloodhound's Fang are in a box in my head labeled "easy mode", although I've basically never actually used them, I've just peeped their movesets and stats and determined that they have insane damage on great movesets, while also both being available extremely early.

  A lot of people seem to think this halberd and loretta's have a fast R1 compared to other halberds, this is not true.
  The active attack frames for halberd R1's while 2 handed are:
  Swordspear = 20 (19 1H)
  Banished = 18 ( 17 1H)
  Nightrider = 20 ( 20 1H)
  (keep in mind the active attack frame beginning at 20 means it begins doing doing at frame 20 of the attack)

  Per the AR Calculator, this thing's max Keen scaling is 168 while e.g. the Nightrider Glaive's max Heavy scaling is 184.6. With 80 strength, the Nightrider Glaive can get 270+449 damage, which means the scaling is improving your damage by 166%. With 80 dex, the Swordspear can get 312+472 damage, which means the scaling is improving your damage by 151%. So the math checks out, this thing's scaling value is not as high as the Glaive's, but this thing makes up for it by having outrageous base damage (on top of having very fast attacks). As an interesting side note, the Commander's Standard eventually beats this thing for pure AR on a Quality Build (at extremely high RL of course).

  Dex scaling is insane on this thing.
  
  Electrify Armament is also a good buff, I prefer Braggart’s Roar on power stanced off-hand (for the stamina regen & damage reduction).

  If you want to farm this before getting to Altus Plateau, there's a good route in Weeping Peninsula.
  
  Start at the "South of the Lookout Tower" Site of Grace and ride West. Go past the large Demi-Human and across the Rope Bridge and you will run into three guardians patrolling along the cliff. Kill those three, then start riding towards the nearby Minor Erdtree. There are another five on the way there, plus another three surrounding the Minor Erdtree for a total of eleven guardians.
  
  They're fairly easy to kill if they haven't seen you yet. I used one cast of Flame Sling with a +1 Dragon Communion Seal and that would oneshot them without me even having to get off my horse. Got the Swordspear on my 5th run after about 10 minutes of farming this route.

  Put Braggarts Roar on this thing and you basically have one of thee most fun and most versatile movesets of any weapon in the game, plus you get access to a strong piercing option with a primarily slashing weapon AND you get stamina regen, long reach, fast attacks, minor pushback on your charged heavies for smaller enemies, excellent ground clearance when you advance, great stagger potential, and it gets rid of those boring as hell, slow, and compromising spinning heavy attacks that practically every halberd has, a VERY smart option to make use of War Cry or Braggarts for maximum funnage.
  
  Plus the weapon looks fantastic, this and Night Riders are both excellent quality options and look baller to boot.

  This weapon has a much higher drop rate with the Erdtree guardians arounds the minor Erdtree of Weeping Peninsula. You can for sure get this weapon on one run (no need to go back to your site of grace over and over).
  
  I am writting this after struggling getting this weapon from the guardians around the Minor Erdtree church (and no success there).

  It"s not hard to get. However its reach is pretty poor compared to most halberds, spears and colossal weapons and the swing speed is just slow enough that you take a big risk swinging more than once at any boss, in which case you'd prefer to swing something beefier.
  
  It's a dex weapon so using it 2h is of little benefit. And the r1 constantly bounces off walls. It's not great with a shield like a spear either.
  
  It's a great weapon for the Thunderbolt AOW, but a dex melee build will do better with a pair of keen straight swords unless you plan to dw these. That way you can get the most out of that one safe swing on the boss.

  This weapon does the same amount of stance break damage as other halbreds while being faster, so it's light attacks are actually really good for stance breaking.

  Farmed it fast (took about 10-15 mins) in Wheeping Peninsula at the very beginning of the game.
  There's a tree spirit and a stake of marika near it and a bonfire downstairs in Tombsward catacombs.
  
  There are 4 guys on the way from bonfire to the tree spirit (one patrolling and 3 waiting beneath the earth, showing up when you're near) and 2 or 3 wandering around that tree (and also 3 or 4 on even lower levels, but you don't need them).
  
  So, you just run bonfire-tree, kill everyone, die to the tree, ressurect at the Marika stake and repeat backwards to the bonfire.

  This weapon only has more AR than th3 strength infused halberd when you one hand the weapons. Two-handed strength infused halberds do way more damage.
  
  If you're not Two-handing strength weapons you're not playing right. This guy arguing AR is misleading.

  Ah so Fromsoft just hates strength builds, why does this halberd that weighs just 9 units get colossal weapon damage and standard weapon R1 attack speed? Not to mention it loses its strength scaling on keen as the only weapon in the game which results in powerstancing suffering 0 penalty making this the best weapon for jump attack builds. It's not even super short as a trade-off for that insane damage and versatility like other weapons (Beastman Cleaver). Literally 0 downsides for using this, get 2 and outdamage/outspeed anyone and anything in the game.

  An even better spot to farm these is from the Erdtree Sanctuary after defeating golden godfrey. Just run back the tree and there will be like 8 mobs who all wield the spear

  This is a strange one. the timing of the 2 handed attacks is one i'm having to get used to, the windup for first attack especially, but the satisfaction of sending enemies flying while on horsie is too great. plus the damage with dex is a nice addition

  Deals 785 physical damage when Keen infused at 80 Dexterity. It swings at the speed of a straight sword, has the range close to a normal halberd, and has access to many fantastic Ashes of War. 10/10 weapon for Dex builds.

  The damage on this thing is absolutely amazing, it does as much damage as some colossal weapons and its r1s are around the same speed as something like a Katana, it doesn't stagger heavier enemies like Knights with every light attack like the other halberds, but with how fast and hard hitting it is that almost doesn't matter, especially since you could always just use jump attacks, which is almost always effective against most Knights with any weapon, and its got a really sexy looking moveset, granted if you're more used to other halberds the moveset of this one may take some getting used to, its very good looking too, even if it doesn't have the most over the top design.

  Guys, the description does not say the weapon was made from wood. Trees were just a surface against which the blade of the weapon was sharpened. Wood is not a constituent material, just a part of the refinement process of the blade.

  Put Spectral Lance on with Blood, good all around weapon I keep on my Right hand. Moveset is great for flying enemies and Spectral Lance is good for everything.

  This weapon's entire moveset feels soooo beyond satisfying. Combined w/ the Spinning Strikes AoW and it got me feeling like a character off the old PS2 Dynasty Warriors games. 10/10

  Lightning is usually an excellent infusion as it generally grants sufficiently higher AR that it overcomes split scaling drawbacks, and benefits even more from lower PvP resists to that element. The swordspear however has such high DEX scaling with keen that lightning is a poor choice. Around 50 DEX lightning isn't outpacing keen enough to make it worth it, and once you get over 60-65 DEX keen is actually going to do more raw AR than lightning.

  Only two real downsides I’ve found for this weapon:
  -It has low staggered compared to other Halberds
  -The R1 will sometimes miss enemies that are low to the ground (dogs, rats, slugs)
  
  Other than that, this weapon hits like a truck. If you’re gonna do a Dex build, put Lightning Strike on it as the AOW scales with Dex. You’ll end up having a beefy up-close weapon, and a powerful ranged too as well.
