The main issue with this spell is the awful awful hitbox, sometimes two enemies right next to each other, one receives the full damage (shout + magma) and the other doesnt get by the shout, although they are on the same radial distance, I hope this gets fixed asap, the spell is cool otherwise

      • Anonymous

my testing leads me to believe this spell can deal its full damage only one to one enemy in a group around you, which is super stupid, I hope this bug gets fixed, not sure what went wrong with the coding

This thing doesn't need a massive buff to become great, either speeding it up/lowering recovery or increasing the damage to where it's just better than dragon maw would be good enough, still really fun to use. It just doesn't make any sense to me that you cast one of the most powerful entities in this universe and little chomp deals more damage

Ok, this is actually good solely because of the amount of buffs available. Flock's canvas talisman + talisman of the dread + fire scorpion charm + flame-shrouding crack tear + golden vow + howl of shibari + roar mediation?? (don't know if this boosts bayle's incantations, its under dragon communion and there is a "roar" animation, but doesn't seem to buff it) + hyperarmor + AOE.

Bayle's flame lightning can't get as much buffs as this, and for only 3 more FP it does way more damage + it deals it in an AOE.

As for the other new fire incantation in Messmer's orb, this deals more damage for 4 less FP while requiring less setup (you need to use the fire knight armor with messmer helm + fire knight seal on top of all the other buffs to even get close to Bayle's tyranny damage) and has more hyper armor .

Ultimately the better option since its the only Dragon Communion spell that gives us a zoning aoe. Worth noting both only cost arcane too, so options for people who don't want to put much into faith.

These incants remind me of Scarlet Aeonia, they look awesome and thrive in unique scenarios and are very costly (fp and skill wise). The fact we can even use them is awesome!

I think the damage on this might be bugged - it does not seem to increase at all from either Fire or Lightning Scorpion Charm, nor the Roar Medallion, or the Dread Talisman. But it is boosted by the Flame and Lightning tears.

with the Rock Heart, 2 Seals, both Flocks and Faithful talismans, lightning+flame tear, golden vow, and howl of shabiri, I can get it to do about 7247 damage on one of the Omens at Underground Roadside (NG+1 with 45 faith 71 arcane) - but sometimes all of the fire doesnt hit and it does less. It seems to be the hardest hitting Dragon Communion incantation, excluding a full cast of one of the breath attacks, as long as the fire hits.

You do have Hyperarmor while casting this, but it is like Dragonclaw level of Armor and unfortunately not infinite like Dragonmaw. Considering the long amount of time it takes to cast this, and the fact that you can't roll or cast anything for a brief moment after the cast since you are in the air, this needs to have its Hyperarmor and damage both buffed, and the hitbox on the fire improved. Not to mention with the Rock Heart and Howl of Shabiri you are a complete glass canon so being locked in place like this is scary

If they release a balance patch to fix the problem with this Incations hitbox and AoE, it could have crazy damage potential. Its a Fire Magma Roar Dragon Communion incantation - so it can be buffed by Rock Heart, 2 Dragon Communion Seals, Golden Vow, FGMS, Roar Medallion, Dread Talisman, Fire Scorpion Charm, and Flocks Talisman - all combined thats like 4.22x multiplier from all the buffs it could have.

Fromsoft PLEASE fix the hitbox and AoE! It feels bugged with how useless it is despite looking so incredible

The entire time igon is with you he spews hate for the dragon, they both fought eachother and igon was injured swearing revenge, his bow dosent fire great arrows but instead "harpoons"...elden ring has you fighting a modern version of moby **** alongside cpt. Ahab

                      • Beat this guy after about 10 tries on my Str/Fth build. I would definitely summon Igon, the enemy seems to aggro him much more often than a normal summon which fits with the quest well. Used Protection of the Erdtree and Malikeths Blade AoE while I was directly under him, my mimic mostly just drew aggro too lol. Luck plays a part for sure, it terms of having time to summon Igon right at the start without getting fire breathed.

No faith just arcane, now if only they would rework the base game dragon spells to be the same they must understand tying them to faith was a mistake if they stopped doing it for the dlc.

probably never gonna use this but that description goes crazy, my lil tarnished unknowingly becoming a reincarnation of deranged satanic omen ancient dragon bro <3

How would this compare to Greyoll's roar? Any answers? I'm actually kinda bummed there aren't some Dragon Communion spells that give us wings or tails. (I just sorta mimic the theme by using Crucible Tail XD)

go for the other one, this spell is a trap, small aoe, no knockback, and mid damage. the other one has similar issues but at least that one can softly be aimed a little

Finding randomly this guy was the biggest "wtf" moment I had in the game so far. Man, I wanted to get the map, got lost, and suddenly, was being eaten alive by a maw of lighting
