Rain of Fire is an Incantation in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLCRain of Fire conjures a massive cloud of flame above enemies that rains fire for a short period of time.

Incantation of Salza, sage of the Fire Knights.

Summons a cloud of flame overhead that pelts foe with rain of fire from above. Charging increases potency.

Salza's disdain for barbarism never waned, even as he burned more villages and scorched more land than any other.

Spell struggles to target enemies correctly, it apparently will randomly choose to generate on top of you or the enemy if it's feeling frisky.

      • Anonymous

Still needs buffs imo. The range is meh, the damages is still very low and the cloud itself is also comparatively small (faster enemies can simply walk out of it without taking much damage) also it bothers me that it uses the same casting animation as burn oh flame. They could rework it, so it works similarly to spira, where you hold down the input to continously rain fire

This incantation and founding rain should work more like Radahns Rain as a tool to get people out of corners.

          • Anonymous

This spell should be a slightly weaker version of Miquella's Light: A lock-on AoE that you can cast from a safe distance/cover. What it needs is greater range. Miquella's Light can hit you from the other side of the map, why is the range of this only like 20 meters?

            • Anonymous

Still casts very slow even with max cast speed. Does decent damage to any large stationary targets, and if you're crafty in PvP it shares a casting animation with Burn O Flame! so can be used as a mix up. Probably not in 1v1s, but 2v2s if you have enough breathing room. All in all it could use a cast speed/recovery buff and it'd be fine.

What went wrong with this spell. Fire serpent and Messmers orb are greatx flame spear and flame sker and Messmers assault are great ashes and Messmers spear and the fire knight weapons are wonderful. So how did they mess this one up so bad I csn think of absolutely no reason to use this incantation

This is really good for attacking anything outside direct line of sight such as enemies plinking away at you at From hard to reach places, tested it out on the Ordina Albinauric Archers, and the Caria Manor large Finger Creepers.

In the case of the archers I could start casting from cover, lock on and then have the flame cloud form over the archers before losing target lock due to no direct line of sight and having the spell cast over me instead. In the case of the finger creepers, I noticed that the flame cloud would spawn at a fixed height above a targeted enemy as opposed to a given height from the ground. Tested on the ones waiting high up on the walls, and noticed the vertical range of the falling projectiles still reaching them once they jumped down to ground level.

Only major downside I could see was that it is very useless in rooms with low ceilings, with the flame cloud spawning above them. Does have a surprisingly decent range with few collision or line of sight issues, and is comparatively cheap for the damage it can output under favourable conditions. It is borderline useless on anything that can quickly reposition, but can reliably chunk slow, stationary or large enemies. It's damage is comparable to Black Flame Ritual, doing potentially higher damage with a long range and slight tracking on its projectiles for 3 less FP.

Absolutely no reason to pick this speel over fire serpent, Messmers orb, catch flame, burn o flame, giants flame or Rykards rancor toilet tier spell

I was looking around to see who is peeing fire on me and couldn't find anyone, died two times. And then i got this spell myself, thought it's too good to be true! Yep, 5 seconds casting time, no stance damage, pathetic fire damage, and instead of the impossible range... 2.5 meters around me.

I like this spell a lot after the buff! Nice AOW or way to start a fight. It’s situational but, I think it augments player damage nicely

Yeah it's basically Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike meets Frenzied Burst.

Extremely good if you want to wipe multiple enemies from afar. Not very useful in open combat, but i'm open for suggestion.

Combine this with helm of messmer + fire knight armor + fire knight seal + canvas talisman + icon of Godfrey for great effects. I love using it on crowds and big enemies

Recent buff made it decent, but not good at all. Fun fact is that the sorcery version of this, that requires 2 slots and it’s classified as “primordial sorcery”, is even worse than this.

I never believed in magic until I saw my F-tier dog turn into an A-tier snake before I could watch some idiot do a challenge run.

Arrows Reach Talisman increases the range at which you can summon the cloud, by a lot. Similar to Ambush Shard.

This went from a lukewarm drizzle to a scalding torrent. I can't wait to see what they do to divine feathers.

I was happy about the buff until I reached "the bridge." I never want to visit "that bridge" again. I was fine with it before the buff, now "that bridge" traumatized me. My monkey brain forgot a buff for me means a buff for enemies too..

                                      • Anonymous

It is funny how this now makes Founding Rain of Stars look pathetic. There are many more ways to buff the damage on this in comparison, it straight up has a higher motion value than it, and it can be casted from a decent range while the sorcery only goes a little bit away from where you casted. Also in PVE, fire damage is more useful than magic.

                                        • Anonymous

Now that this things damage actually kicks ass, the one benefit this thing always had was its starting animation being the burn o' flame one where you get down really low. Great for dodging some attacks and being able to rack up like 3-4 thousand damage over time while still being able to cast is the same luxury many sorcerers have now for faith bros.

                                          • Anonymous

They added a 0 in the scaling after the patch. That is all you need to know. It is a decent spell now. And is one of the best to fight Erdtree Avatar

                                            • Wow this spell is leaps and bounds beyond where it had been. I always test spells on that poor troll at secluded cell and pre buff, I could only manage to get 500-700 damage out of it on the troll. After today's buff, the variance was more like 4k -4.7k

                                              • Anonymous

This is so much better now. The only thing that would make this better is make it function like blades of stone on full charge and have it spawn three version of this over the enemy so it has light tracking

                                                • Anonymous

Patch buff seems pretty good. Pre-patch, I wasn't able to kill the putrid corpses near the grace at shaded castle (55fth with golden order seal) whereas Founding Rain of Stars melted them (55int with prince of deal staff). Now, Rain of Fire about 80 or so damage per tick more than Founding Rain; ticks also appear to be faster too. I think pre-patch with same stats, I was doing like 32 damage or so per tick on Rain of Fire and now getting 262 at a much faster rate.

                                                  • Anonymous

After the buff, while it's not that useful on humanoid enemies, it absolutely SHREDS those big enemies like Dragons. Not a bad incantation!

                                                    • Anonymous

Definitely buffed but still not very good. Range isn't great, squirmy enemies just walk out of the aoe before it even starts, and if you cast it around yourself it's just diet burn o flame.

I'm convinced the ass-level damage on this is Miyazaki's revenge for the FromSoft staff refusing to implement a Death Blight swamp.

I think this is a joke spell, the guy you get it from has a funny big hood and wearing it gives you INT(even though all of the theme surronds around STR/FTH) and in the hood's desc. it says "A disciple of the elder Wego, he refused to burn down an old ruin, at the risk of his own life." and in the spell desc. it says "Salza's disdain for barbarism never waned, even as he burned more villages and scorched more land than any other." So my conclusion is that this Wego guy is a total loser and can't do anything with his life so he gave himself to messmer and our guy Salza disicple of Wego and probably creator of this stupid spell thought that his powers were too good for common folk to use his full power and see them as barbarians that deserve nothing and decided to smoke them in a long and painful way. This items and this two random guy's lore bears a lesson i think, don't be a loser if you wanna be successful. Truly miyazaki cooked here and gives all of us a good lesson...

                                                                • Anonymous

Out of all spells that the Elden Babies are crying because they don't have half a brain to kill things with them, this one is actually bad.

                                                                  • Anonymous

After grinding to get a couple more levels in FTH to use this I had to come here to see if something was wrong with my build due to the absolutely embarrassing damage I was doing. Glad to see I’m not the only one lol. This desperately needs a buff. I mean From is infamous for nerfing cool stuff into the ground, and making stuff feel underpowered, but this is an entirely new level of useless. While you’re at it go ahead and make Rain of Stars useable as well.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

My target was a bunny at the Church of Elleh.

                                                                          • Anonymous

This isn't even bugged or anything, it has a motion value of 33 when charged which is comparable to Founding Rain of Stars with 54. There is no doubt though that the 20 motion value difference is making this considerably worse though since at least that can cut through defenses a bit better. This needs to at least be on par with the sorcery, otherwise this might as well not exist.

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous
