Fires a shattering magic nail

Glintstone Nail is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. It is a brand-new Sorcery in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Glintstone Nail spell is a Finger sorcery of Count Ymir, that flings a magic nail towards the target.
Glintstone sorcery of Count Ymir, High Priest. One of the finger sorceries said to have been discovered in a hallowed ruin. Flings a magic nail that crumbles during flight. Charging increases potency. Count Ymir boasts that this is mere child's play, an echo of a greater truth.

I did some testing to see how it compares to Pebble, Shard, Comet Shard and Comet.
(80 INT / Carian Regal Scepter +9 / S.Scaling - 355 / Stormveil Castle, Secluded Cell, Giant Troll)
Glintstone Nail outranges all of the previous spells, and obviously tracks better then them. It's damage lies between Pebble and just slightly below GG Shard, it's charged is also just slightly below an uncharged Comet Shard.
With Max Spellcasting speed, my timing on cast till when the Troll dies was 5:65s with Pebble, and 9:66s with Nail.
Pebble took 7 casts and did 3,318 (570 + 458 * 6) while Nail took 5 casts and did 3,228 (752 + 619 * 4).
This comes out to about 587 DPS for Pebble, and 389 DPS for Nail.
While less DPS, I think Nail is a good alternative to Pebble for enemies that can dodge (NPCs, etc). The behavior of Nail's projectile means that even if dodged or rolled through, the spell that is still hard tracking can pull a 180 and hit them in the back.
I am dissapointed with the pluralized version. I can only roughly guess that it loses 40% range for an increase of 20% damage.
Just stick with this spell, honestly.

Been playing around with it for quite a while now, a few points to note:
The choppy motion has both advantages and disadvantages. It might cause misses on small moving targets and hit the ground, but it makes up for it because the nail can turn 360° in every axis everytime it moves, meaning your shot is never missed until the nail despawns or hits an obstacle. This means that sometimes you will miss something a glintstone would normally hit, and hit something a glintstone would normally miss. The range is very appreciated, and for it's FP cost it's really a powerhouse. A charged nail hits almost as hard as an uncharged comet (90 int, no finger specific buffing equipment, meaning both are getting the same dmg boosts). For pvp, it's really good. The tracking is going to pressure enemies a lot more than a pebble or shard would. I've had great results in the arenas. If you use pebble because you can cast it fast and while moving, don't expect this to replace it, while the slow cast speed is made up for with range, damage, funky tracking and fp efficency it's still a slower cast speed, and can't be cast during actions. Overall recommended, it's really good once you understand the spacing for it, and at the very least is a valid and interesting alternative to the boring blue pew pew.

I'd been using Glintstone Icecrag throughout the entirety of the base game, but I may have to switch to Nail. Nail has higher damage, longer range, and less FP. The only downside is that the cast speed is a little slower but so far it seems like the damage and range makes up for it

This spell is interesting, 3 FP more than pebble but significantly more damage. It also can change it's movement in flight. It shifts direction in several bursts and has nearly the same range as rock fling. If you spend time to understand how it moves it's a significant upgrade over pebble for wizards.
It's probably the only useful Wizard item in the whole DLC.

Y'all think Miyazaki reads/watches jojo? The amount of references there are in the game, especially in the dlc

The other commenter claiming this has no tracking is wrong. I tested this on the hawks in stormveil castle. Glintstone nail initially missed due to the hawk moving out of the way, only for the nail to make a complete 180 degree turn and hit the hawk in the back.

This, and Glintstone Nails, will be available for purchase from Count Ymir, after ringing the first bell in his questline.
