Veteran's Set Elden Ring Notes and Tips

  • Visually, the armor behind all the cloth in this set is almost identical to the Banished Knight Set besides the helmet, there are differences in the details like this one having real looking horns and more of them while Banished's got just one metal horn, and looking more deteriorated overall.

Just reduce Poise down to <65 so that people can stop crying. I'd still wear the whole set regardless, since it's the dopest heavy armor in the game.

      • Anonymous

there are so many people just combining this with parts of the lionel set and using some halberd (flaming strike/glintstone pebble) or ultra greatsword (giant hunt/rkr), its insane. these people are made in a factory, it's truly impressive just how often you can meet these kinds of people in duels.

"Ooh, armor with good poise and low weight, AND it looks cool? Sign me up!" ---scrolling down here--- why is everyone so mean I think the Bull-Goat chest piece is pretty :,(

          • Anonymous

The armor looks entirely too big for the player model, like it’s been proportionally increased in size more than it should’ve been.

            • Anonymous

The actual true problem with this set is that it kills fashion souls along with the bull-goat armor. In PVP, you'll see everybody just wearing this and nothing else. If everything else had higher poise values, you'd see this less often and an actual wide variety of armors. This set isn't OP, everything else is just trash. I just want to see people come up with creative fashion while still maintaining a decent build, please make it happen Fromsoft.

              • Anonymous

Only piece I like is the helm. That looks dope with unaltered banished knight armor or beast champion altered. The capes are important!

                • Anonymous

unless you're looking for poise higher than 105.4, or your level is high enough that 63 weight of bull-goat won't bother you, this is the best armor once you can afford the weight. For less than 4wgt, it got 19 more poise than those of 41.6wgt, with almost the same defense/resistance if not more, bit of ridiculous imo.Change the leg to bull-goat, and you'll get 116poise with tallisman with less armor less than 50wgt. making every other armor higher than this wgt bit of a joke(fashion not considered)

                  • Anonymous

The Bloodhound Knight helmet is a good alternative to match this set, if someone doesn't like the open visor or bulky horns. It shares a very similar finish/hue and goes well woth the full plated knight ascetic.

                    • Anonymous

Looks like something out of an ancient painting, reminiscent of the secret knight painting in lothric castle

Let’s be honest here, the only reason why people hate on this armor is because it’s one of the best. Same as rivers of blood katana. As far as the looks. I agree the helm looks ugly, so I use Baidds helm that matches perfectly with the cape. Problem solved

                        • Anonymous

Comparing this set to the Tree Sentinel set, they have identical weight and nearly identical damage negation (TS has a little more Fire while Vet has a little more VS Strike), but for some reason the Vet set has 19 more poise. Why? Who ****ing knows. Even if you do wear this, you'll still get staggered by rats.

                          • Anonymous

I don't know about rest of it but, Veteran's armor is the best(heavy) armor in the game thanks to it's cape.

                            • Anonymous

I shouldn't be able to get 61 poise at SL1 because I'm wearing two pieces of veterans armor, and still have weight left over for a halberd. This set's poise needs to be balanced to be more comparable with other sets, and/or other sets need their poise values raised. Poise/weight ratio is hands down the most important armor stat because of how passive poise works, and because of that, this armor set will continue to be overused. I hate that I can't even remove the ugly cape, because that alone is TEN poise.

                              • Anonymous

They need to increase the Weight of this armor, its stupid that its comparable to the heaviest armors for a lot less Weight.

Either that or nerf the poise of it.

The best armor in the game, but also one of the ugliest! I will judge your fashion if I see you wearing this.

                                  • Anonymous

It sucks you can't get a "fixed" version of this armour. I really want to see what it looks like with both tassets, the missing horn, the leggings fixed and the visor closed

                                    • Anonymous

You use this with a main hand rivers and an off hand uchi with bloodhound's step. I use it with commander's standard. We are not the same.

                                      • Anonymous

is it true that guts wore this with the mimic tear mask then used rivers of blood and frenzied burst to kill griffith? everyone i see in pvp does this

                                        • Anonymous

The best armor set in the game. Huge poise and good defenses. Has the same poise as Lionel which is a lot heavier. This armor with the bull goat amulet are the best combo for 30 endurance builds, leaves a good amount of weight for weapons as well and gets 105 poise to tank a lot of different weapons.

                                          • Anonymous

Not sure if it has already been said, but it's interesting to note that this armor looks like modified Banished Knight Armor.

                                            • Anonymous

I know this is basically the sweatlord uniform, but man does it look cool as hell. I pair the chest with the Gelmir Knight helmet and Prelate pants. If you have a big weapon, you look like an absolute chad.

                                              • Anonymous

kinda sucks that this became looked down upon by the playerbase. was (and still is) one of my fav sets in the game in my first playthrough. i just used it because it looked cool and had very good poise (i was going for a strength build).

                                                • Anonymous

Reminder: you have no control over what someone else does in their game. Just like in real life you have no control over when and how you will get murdered. It's good to be mentally prepared, but not much else you can do about it.

                                                  • Anonymous

Lol, I just hate how fat the armor is and the duck feet XD it's a shame the best armor in the game is so ugly.

                                                    • Anonymous

The only armour with decent poise to weight ratio and yet everyone in comments is crying. Go tell Fromsoft to give better armour with poise if nothing below 90 Poise matters.

                                                      • Anonymous

The sheer amount of salt in this comment section is insane. Sure, if you're PvPing in SL150+ area where people can pump 30 end while maintaining 60 vig and 80 damage stat. But this set is still far to heavy to use on lower soul levels unless you're investing in playing a tank. This is no different than the Elite Knight sets from Dark Souls for poise/weight.

                                                        • Anonymous

                                                          • Not gonna lie, the chest and feet combo of this look ugly. The chest is way wider than the pants so it looks like your guy has thin legs unless you make your characters legs about 60 points bigger than your chest. And duck feet.

Not that it matters, since every one with their patented unique rivers of blood setup will be wearing this regardless.

Instead of crying about nerfing this, we should buff others. This is the only armour whose poise/weight makes sense considering how much poise you need for things to matter.

This has to get nurfed, it has the same poise as Lionels armor while it weights less. Either increase the weight or decrease the poise.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

The kinda person who'd wear underpants on their head if a influencer told them it was cool.

                                                                    • Anonymous

I for one can't wait for them to once again remove poise completely, and put Poise of certain weapon families like colossals, and bigger 2h weapons.

And before you respond with your rose tinted glasses, Yes they will. They did it in Dark souls 1,2,3 and objectivly removed it from bloodborn because it wouldn't work. I think Miazaki man hoped that all the **** that exist in this game would even poise out better then other games, but proven it hasnt, and its all about the same **** like before, we all might as well enjoy the broken ass poise as it is for now, because soon enough it'll be gone.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Pair this whole set with slightly lighter chest armor like banished knight and people will misjudge your poise because you don't look as W I D E and intimidating, yet still got ~70 poise. More than enough to tank a small weapon r1. Have fun trading.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Nothing more unique than someone wearing this and wielding Rivers of Blood and maybe a pocket power stanced Seppuku Naginata. Gotta be the most intuitive getup I've seen. Really nothing comes close to how revolutionary it is. Gotta say I'm impressed. Clearly wearing it for the drip too and I commend that daring fashion sense.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

This armor is insanely good, possibly best in the game for heavy armor builds. The weight to poise ratio is by far the best in the game, and the physical defense is competitive with Lionel's set which is much heavier. I hope it's not nerfed, it's the only high poise armor that doesn't force you to have a beer belly. I hope the fact that it can only be found very late in the game warrants it being so strong.

JSYK for PVP: Veteran's head + Veteran's chest + Scaled gloves + Bull-goat legs + Bull-goat talisman = exactly 111 poise. I'm sure there are other combinations but that's the one I use. 50 END with Erdtree's Favor talisman +2 gives enough equip load to use basically any weapon (depends slightly on your other talismans but I use the Prelate's Crozier and have about 2 pounds left over).

                                                                              • This set is unfairly good for PvP. Yes I said it, unfair.

Lionel’s set has the same poise values, but weighs 5.5 more than this set with little to no defense difference.

The Tree Sentinel set weighs exactly the same with irrelevant defense differences, but yet the Veterans set has 19 more poise!!!!

Look, I know it’s pretty toxic to be like “nerf this” and “nerf that”, but this set needs to be adjusted to be on the same playing field as the other armor in it’s weight class.

Seriously, without a poise nerf or weight increase, this set has the potential to single handedly ruin fashion souls in competitive play due to the importance of poise.

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

This set + the Bull-Goat Talisman will give you all the poise you need.

The major softcaps for poise are 50, 100 and 103:
                                                                                    - 50 poise will allow you to tank 1 light attack from most enemies;
                                                                                    - 100 poise will allow you to tank 2 light attacks from most enemies OR a medium attack;
                                                                                    - 103 poise will give you the above benefits, but for PvP it allows you to tank the biggest hit you can tank - which is a 2-handed halberd R1.
Because of these facts, this set will give you optimal poise, good absorption AND good looks for a measly 45 weight. With moderately high END you can equip heavy weapons with plenty of equip load to spare.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                        • Anonymous

The poise in particular on this gear is incredible. I do however need to voice my resentment that the visor on the helmet cannot be closed!
