Veteran's Set Elden Ring Notes and Tips
- The Veteran's Armor can be altered to the Veteran's Armor (Altered) to remove the cape.
- Visually, the armor behind all the cloth in this set is almost identical to the Banished Knight Set, besides the helmet. There are differences in the details, like this one having real looking horns and more of them while Banished's got just one metal horn, and looking more deteriorated overall.
- Poise updated to patch 1.07. See Patch Notes for details.

What's with putting capes on everything?!? This thing has two of them! All it does clip through weapons, horses, furniture, walls, and everything else. Even if you do enjoy dressing up as a pigeon, this only looks "cool" when you're stationary and away from everything.

Stereotypes of people who wear this aside, the full set looks so sick imo, I just wish it had the peg leg then it would be 10/10
- Anonymous
Not a huge fan of the leggings at all, especially the duck feet. Any good looking leggings that fit the set well?

Would look cool if the chest piece didn't make you look like a PHAT PHUCK
- Anonymous
The best looking heavy set with best weight/defence/poise ratio imo. Other, lighter sets look better but I have to justify all this endurance somehow
- Anonymous
Meta armor sets are like genders. There used to be two of them and now it's complicated.
- Anonymous
I actually just think this set looks cool af,don't care about anything else.

I think this armor set looks best when you are using larger weapons such as colossal weapons/swords or some of the halberts. On a strength build this can look pretty good but on a Dex build with katanas or other small weapons it can look kinda silly. I think this serves the purpose of heavy armor quite nicely without looking as goofy as the bull goat set (god the clipping on bull goat chest piece is atrocious). I also love the massive cape on the chest piece. You kind of have to commit to this set as apart from the gauntlets it is hard to mix and match pieces without it looking off or just downright terrible (Im looking at you veteran set with white mask people). Overall good set if you want a bulkier look

This set makes you look like you're wearing a metal trash can on your chest. Fitting considering the tryhard stereotype it's known for.
- Anonymous
veterans set and unaltered banished knights helm looks cool to me if you want similar stats but don't want face showing

Enough with the damn ugly random horn on the shoulder. Thats three armor sets that i like with this crap almost ruining them. Gives me conniptions.

On a weight to poise ratio this is the best armor piece (chest) in the game

I think this armor genuinely looks good with a heavy build. I didn't even know about the poise stat when I picked this out for my woodchopper Godfrey Axe Santa Claus arena build simply cause the burly chestpiece and the long, thick cloak.
For light builds though, it just looks goofy. The arms/legs and the helmet they wear will always be way smaller, making it look like the character's just wearing an overshized sweatshirt. It's one of those armor chestpieces like Smough's was in Dark Souls, you either commit to the heavy build and go all the way, or don't use it at all. Unless you deliberately want you character to look weird

Fromsoft devs: "Psst, hey you! Yes, you! Heard you like you shield floathing 5 inches away from your back when you 2-hand your weapon! Well if it's true, boy I got the armor for you!"

tree sentinel armor has kinda dethroned this as the sweatlord armor of choice, though this is still quite good

veteran set? check. rkr greatsword? check. max stack of every consumable in the game? check. yup, its sweatin time.

I buy / farm every set I can. I like poise to armor to weight being right... Fine I'm a try hard but I'm wearing it, no reason not to.

Anyone know how much endurance i need to mid roll with this set+banished knight helm for fashion 2x iron greatsword and 1x greatmace
I do also have great jars arsenal equipped btw.

I actually really like how this armor looks. Shame like lapp's set it's mostly known for toxic tryhards using it.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
i wouldn't even wear this for the poise, its too drenched in gamer sweat and liurnia lake water
- Anonymous
Dear Miyazaki, reduce poise on that armor-because 1)- Everyone wearing that and 2) its so strange that armor set have 1.5 more balance numbers then other same weight class armor.
- Anonymous
Am I the only one who thinks that this set looks dope? The cape is just great and the helm is unique.

Damn was not expecting a majority calling the set ugly. One of the cooler armor sets in game imo and especially among the heavy armors. Although bull horn is silly looking I agree
- Anonymous
I’m honestly convinced that there’s a direct relationship between how ugly a set of armor is and how much poise it gives.
- Anonymous
It'd be nice if it didn't make your torso look really wide/fat if it was slimmed down to a similar size to something like banished knight armor/scaled armor, i would like it a lot more, idk maybe its intended to be a big tank man type armor set but i still think it would look way better if it was slimmer and less chonky.

How to trigger most Elden Ring players: this armor + moonveil & rivers of blood.

Main armor piece from this looks sick with lionel’s helm.
- Anonymous
Goddamn this and the bull goat armor are some of the ugliest gear in the game, too bad they're the only sets with meaningful poise. Fashion souls is dead.
Poise beast armor but omg, this chest and legs pieces are ugly af
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Just reduce Poise down to <65 so that people can stop crying. I'd still wear the whole set regardless, since it's the dopest heavy armor in the game.

there are so many people just combining this with parts of the lionel set and using some halberd (flaming strike/glintstone pebble) or ultra greatsword (giant hunt/rkr), its insane. these people are made in a factory, it's truly impressive just how often you can meet these kinds of people in duels.
- Anonymous
"Ooh, armor with good poise and low weight, AND it looks cool? Sign me up!" ---scrolling down here--- why is everyone so mean I think the Bull-Goat chest piece is pretty :,(
- Anonymous
Tryhardy for sure but at least, unlike the Lapp set, this one actually looks dope. Except for maybe the helmet; with the visor permanently up it looks too bulky.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
The set is really good but the feet..
oh jesus, they are ugly as hell!
- Anonymous
The armor looks entirely too big for the player model, like it’s been proportionally increased in size more than it should’ve been.
- Anonymous
you run 100 poise, I run crouch poke. neither of us gets fun.
- Anonymous
Man this armor is elden bling to the peak, I sure hope there isn't a tryhard stereotype attached to it
- Anonymous
The actual true problem with this set is that it kills fashion souls along with the bull-goat armor. In PVP, you'll see everybody just wearing this and nothing else. If everything else had higher poise values, you'd see this less often and an actual wide variety of armors. This set isn't OP, everything else is just trash. I just want to see people come up with creative fashion while still maintaining a decent build, please make it happen Fromsoft.
- Anonymous
Only piece I like is the helm. That looks dope with unaltered banished knight armor or beast champion altered. The capes are important!
- Anonymous
unless you're looking for poise higher than 105.4, or your level is high enough that 63 weight of bull-goat won't bother you, this is the best armor once you can afford the weight. For less than 4wgt, it got 19 more poise than those of 41.6wgt, with almost the same defense/resistance if not more, bit of ridiculous imo.Change the leg to bull-goat, and you'll get 116poise with tallisman with less armor less than 50wgt. making every other armor higher than this wgt bit of a joke(fashion not considered)

The Bloodhound Knight helmet is a good alternative to match this set, if someone doesn't like the open visor or bulky horns. It shares a very similar finish/hue and goes well woth the full plated knight ascetic.
- Anonymous
Looks like something out of an ancient painting, reminiscent of the secret knight painting in lothric castle

This is actually a 5 piece set, the wiki forgot to add Rivers of Blood to the list.

This armorset has the best poise to weight ratio for those who does not want to go for bullgoat set

Use this with the Tree Sentinel helm and it looks really nice
- Anonymous
Let’s be honest here, the only reason why people hate on this armor is because it’s one of the best. Same as rivers of blood katana. As far as the looks. I agree the helm looks ugly, so I use Baidds helm that matches perfectly with the cape. Problem solved

Comparing this set to the Tree Sentinel set, they have identical weight and nearly identical damage negation (TS has a little more Fire while Vet has a little more VS Strike), but for some reason the Vet set has 19 more poise. Why? Who ****ing knows. Even if you do wear this, you'll still get staggered by rats.
- Anonymous
Okay they got capes at castle sol, I just wanted one for banished knight but this here is fkn majestic
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I don't know about rest of it but, Veteran's armor is the best(heavy) armor in the game thanks to it's cape.
- Anonymous
I shouldn't be able to get 61 poise at SL1 because I'm wearing two pieces of veterans armor, and still have weight left over for a halberd. This set's poise needs to be balanced to be more comparable with other sets, and/or other sets need their poise values raised. Poise/weight ratio is hands down the most important armor stat because of how passive poise works, and because of that, this armor set will continue to be overused. I hate that I can't even remove the ugly cape, because that alone is TEN poise.
- Anonymous
They need to increase the Weight of this armor, its stupid that its comparable to the heaviest armors for a lot less Weight.
Either that or nerf the poise of it.

The best armor in the game, but also one of the ugliest! I will judge your fashion if I see you wearing this.
- Anonymous
It sucks you can't get a "fixed" version of this armour. I really want to see what it looks like with both tassets, the missing horn, the leggings fixed and the visor closed

You use this with a main hand rivers and an off hand uchi with bloodhound's step. I use it with commander's standard. We are not the same.

Lol, the beefiness of this armor makes the character look like a midget
- Anonymous
I hate that this armor is so good, we need more armor options ;_;
- Anonymous
is it true that guts wore this with the mimic tear mask then used rivers of blood and frenzied burst to kill griffith? everyone i see in pvp does this
- Anonymous
I just wear the unaltered banished knight chest with the set and still get 93 poise. I love it.
- Anonymous
The best armor set in the game. Huge poise and good defenses. Has the same poise as Lionel which is a lot heavier. This armor with the bull goat amulet are the best combo for 30 endurance builds, leaves a good amount of weight for weapons as well and gets 105 poise to tank a lot of different weapons.
- Anonymous
Not sure if it has already been said, but it's interesting to note that this armor looks like modified Banished Knight Armor.
- Anonymous
The only high poise set that doesnt look like absolute ass
- Anonymous
This and the melted cheese set are easily the two ugliest sets in the game.
- Anonymous
I know this is basically the sweatlord uniform, but man does it look cool as hell. I pair the chest with the Gelmir Knight helmet and Prelate pants. If you have a big weapon, you look like an absolute chad.
The helm pairs really well with the Kaiden set
