Usable on large and colossal axes and hammers.
Ash of War: Prelate's Charge Location in Elden Ring
Where to find Ash of War: Prelate's Charge:
- In Mountaintops of the Giants. South of Whiteridge Road Grace. Inside a Fire Monk campsite, look for the scarab hanging on a tree. Elden Ring Interactive Map Link.
Ash of War: Prelate's Charge Elden Ring Guide
- Grants the skill Prelate's Charge.
- Can be used with the following affinity Upgrades: Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art
- Can be applied to the following weapon categories, so long as the weapon allows skill replacement: Great Hammers, Greataxes, Colossal Weapons
Elden Ring Ash of War: Prelate's Charge Notes & Tips
- This skill costs 7 FP to start the charge and then 7 FP continuously to keep charging
- When infused into a weapon like the Great Stars, HP can be recovered per hit (which is potentially a lot)
- Using the spell Bloodflame Blade, HP can not only be recovered from the leftover flames on the ground damaging targets, but it also causes Bleed buildup on top of what is already being dealt by the AoW hitting the target with the weapon itself, making it a deadly option against bosses like Malenia, Blade of Miquella and most humanoid enemies

This on +25 great-stars destroys cleanrot knights at Elphael.

does this work with Millicent’s & the Winged Sword talismans?
- Anonymous
Does not apply on hit effects, like bleed or sleep.
But it does proc Great Stars healing effect and Winged insignia.

Slap this on a Great Stars- charge down foes doing damage, bleed buildup, and healing yourself.

If you see a fingerprint, slap bloodflame on this badboy and stunlock the poor schmuck blocking to death

If you do pure strength, is this worth using with the heavy infusion? I keep reading portions of the attack scale off faith even if you infuse the weapon to have no faith scaling.

actually a quite good AoW for PvP, when used properly.
when paired with bleed weapons, it's very helpful for increasing the bleed buildup with the charge, plus it leaves flame trails behind, so even if the first slam doesn't connect, you can still turn around and get some space while burning any enemies that walk on the flames.
the second upward slam also gives good opportunities for follow up attacks. it's always fun watching people flying up in the air just to get blasted away by AoE attacks like Greyoll's roar on recovery.
Gets extra damage from faith. Infusing a weapon with flame and pumping faith will give best results.
Dis with great stars or butchering knife makes you non stop heal

so, a fun fact - it seem sthat if you kill an erdtree avatar with this (dunno if it's the flame or the actual hit, or just while it's active on fire, etc)... it doesn't stop burning after it dies. You can just hear neverending fire

Was summoned by a host alongside someone with this
We stunlocked the hell out of her while our mage host stands and watches confused at what he brought upon this world

This is one of my favorite ashes. I just love watching enemies heads bob around as I steam roll them over. ;)

slap this on the Great Stars or Great Omenkiller Cleaver with any of the physical attributes, buff with Bloodflame and watch the host beg for mercy

>Great Stars +25
>Shard of Alexander + Carian Filigreed
>Quality infusion
>Be summoned help for Malenia
>Stun her the whole charge of the WA and then fling her in the air at the end of WA
>Builds Bleed each hit and then procs
>Rinse and repeat
Slapped this immediately back on the inferno crozier and made it heavy. I can’t bring myself to use anything else on that hammer. This skill just fits it too perfectly.

This is amazing on Great Stars. I have consistently killed stat hackers with over 350k HP by making it quality, buffing with bloodflame blade and using shard of alexander, carian filigreed crest, lord of blood's exultation and rotten winged sword insignia. It staggers, applies bleed and heals you for every hit it lands. Amazing ash of war.

As this is a flame skill, does it scale with faith or strenght?

Has anyone tried putting this on the Rotten Greataxe? Does it cause rot build up on every tick?

All the comments here say to use this with Bloodflame Blade, but it doesn't seem to work - at least not any more. I have Great Stars with this Ash. I meet all the requirements to cast Bloodflame Blade. But the spell stays darkened out on my spell bar and just makes the confused gesture when I try to cast it.

does shard of alexander affect this weapon art damage? (specially the big first and last hits?)

This + great stars = ultimate lifesteal build. You're welcome.

Hilariously good against rivers of blood katana skill, the pain train coming.

did they nerf it? doesn't seem to proc bleed when used on a weapon with innate bleed

Location is off, it's located in a scarab in a tree southish outside of guardians Garrison (which is next to the whiteridge road Grace, but not in the forbidden lands. Its in the mountaintops of Giants)

This needs an update. The Ash of War is not located anywhere near the Forbidden Lands. It’s in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

patch 1.03, It uses 7FP to start, and continuously use 7FP to hold the charge. Still working with butcher's knife and blackflame.

Curious if this procs talismans like millicents prothesis or the rotten sword insignia. Anyone tested it out?

if u want more debauchery, use this on butchering knife + bloodflame, less damage, but more durable, and another debauchery is adding fire deadly sin on it, another one is, use this on rotten greataxe + bloodflame + fire deadly sin welcome to ultimate debauchery, meh they need to fix this dung, i literaly just spinning around like maniac againts 3 ppl and won, u need to know this stagger ppl like they've been hit by a train, and the flame u left on ur path also staggering if some decides to punish u from behind not to mention bloodflame effect got enhanced by fire deadly sin bug, just combined this with carian crest so u can mantain it longer, also i think malenia's great rune work with this on pvp, idk talisman below will activate its effect if u use this skill but someone need to test it
talismans : godslayer talisman, lord of blood exaltation (incl white mask), rotten winged insignia, or rotten kindred (if use rotten axe)

is there anything that directly counters this in pvp or it just infinite poise? I was using a greatsword against this guy while he was charging this up and it didn't break his **** at ALL
- Anonymous
use great stars, apply bloodflame blade, use this ash of war, unlimited bleeding pain train.
- Anonymous
Each hit triggers the butchering knife's 1% heal per hit effect.
- Anonymous
Worth knowing for STR/Faith builds that this gives Flame Art affinity, which gives a weapon Strength, Faith, and Dex scaling. Unlike Flame of the Redmanes weapon art which only gives Fire affinity for Strength and Dex scaling.
- Anonymous
The skill does not apply auxiliary effects, put it on great stars and chuchu Thomased some knights in Haligree tree, does not apply bleed. I could be wrong though, gonna test it on rotten battle hammer next.

There isn't a Whiteridge road in forbidden lands, it's farther along.

It is notable to say this Ashes of War doesn’t do much in the way of damage, but can pretty much stunlock a number of enemies and bosses for 10 to 15 seconds until your stamina runs out. More or less buying your cooperators time for a breather in the middle of a fight.
It’s quite hilarious to watch someone bulldoze Melania Blade of Miquella all around her arena with this. It might be even possible to stunlock her the entire fight if three people went in with this equipped.

Dropped by scarab hanging on a tree just south of Guardians' Garrison in Mountaintop of the Giants.
This is a very sad day, but I have discovered that at some point the bloodflame/blackflame applying from the fire left on the ground has been patched. The weapon itself still applys them as you charge so it's still good but it certainly affected the status buildup on larger targets.
I will state this is just from me testing on some mobs since I don't have friends but with over 10-15 ticks of the ground fire the bleed never procced on an enemy I know is succeptible to it (Big ass lion).
I don't know how to edit thingys so could someone update the notes and tips with this info? It still claims the ground fire applies the status effects.
