Me going around the DLC Lion Clawing NPCs with a big ol' hammer thinking "What a shame. Two years and still nothing beats this Ash." Then I found this.

One thing I noticed is that this thing had a L2/L2 true combo on my giant crusher

Pro's:
Longer Range than lion's claw
Combo Effect can do big dmg
Looks Cooler
Con's:
Less DMG on first hit
Less Poise dmg on first hit
Combo isnt really effective on bosses that spam and misses 2nd pretty often
Lion's Claw base is just better overall for trading. Up to you though if you want to look cooler.

Is the first hit exactly identical to Lion's Claw in terms of damage, status buildup, poise damage, hyperarmor?

does anyone know how much poise damage this one does compared to the original lions claw?

Multi Hit anything in the DLC is trash. You'll get one hit off and get combo'd to death while you're trying the second. We live in a world of flippy spin attacks now. Roll R1 or R2 is what you get.

OG Lion’s Claw was the Artorias flip, now this one is the Gael flip! Thank you Fromsoft, super dope

i've found the same ash of war but i can't infuse it in occult? how do you do it please?

From modest testing the OG Lions Claw does ~1800 damage on a maxed Greatsword at 50 Strength. The first hit of the Savage Lions Claw does ~1400, with the follow up doing an additional ~1300 assuming everything connects. In terms of pure damage i'd say its a net improvement. IMO it feels more satisfying to use and slightly more thoughtful since the follow up is optional.

Original one is much better and does more poise damage. This one just looks cooler. A waste

The position on the map is off. It's not on top of the cliff, its just below it, next to a campfire.
