Ash of War: Spinning Gravity Thrust is an Ash of War and Upgrade Material in Elden Ring. It is a brand-new Ash of War in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Ash of War: Spinning Gravity Thrust provides Heavy affinity and the Spinning Gravity Thrust Skill. Ashes of War can be equipped on Weapons and Shields to modify the Skill or an equipment, or to apply affinities that modify scaling values.
Gravity Thrust is a devastating gravity skill that allows the user to hang in the air before rotating, and charge forward with Large and Colossal Swords. It also has Heavy affinity
This Ash of War grants an armament the Heavy affinity and the following skill:
"Spinning Gravity Thrust: A gravity skill honed by the disciples of an Alabaster Lord. Uses gravitational power to hang in the air before rotating the body and charging forward. An additional input allows for a follow-up attack."
Usable on large and colossal swords.

you can interrupt malenia’s waterfall dance with this ash of war

From my testing, it seems that the briar set boosts the damage on this by a decent amount. Can anybody confirm?

Put this on the Greatsword + blood affinity and you literally turn yourself into a bleed missile
(frost works too if that's what you prefer)

This + Keen/Heavy Great Epee + Bloodflame Blade= Palpatine build

you can put any affinity on with this..
put it on a great katana with poison affinity and your exultation build will be good as hell

So sad you can't use this while on Torrent like Hog Rider does.

The gravity effect that appears in the weapon doesn't overwrite nor remove any buffs previously added to the weapon before the ash of war. So bloodflame blade, rot grease, blackflame, etc. Applies to each hit in the ash of war, wich are like 6 hits each part.

My maiden is dead. She's gone. But she's on back! In my heart! She lives on as part of me! If you're gonna fight, fight to defeat the outer gods. Even if it's my own grave I'm fighting through, I keep going! Once I've fought my way through, that means I've become the Elden Lord! Who the hell do you think I am? I'm Tarnished. I'm not the Greater Will's pawn, Marika. I'm me! Tarnished the Graceless!
FINISHING MOVE!
GIGA DRILL BREAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

I'm ecstatic to learn this can be put on Curved Greatswords. I'm definitely putting it on Freyja's Greatsword next run for a full Radahn build.

Does anyone how this scales ? I assume it scales only with weapon AR like many Ashes that hit with the weapon itself, but since it's enhanced with Gravity magic, it may be scaling with both AR and Str or Int.

Does anyone know if you dual wield weapons while using the ashe of war if it does extra damage? I would assume so since its a spinning move but I also get that by using an ashe of war doesn't entail it to work with the other weapon bc game mechanics

not being able to put this on fists to complete the M. Bison cosplay is a crime.
we were this close to greatness -_-

Works with Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, Millicent's Prosthesis, Thorny Cracked Tear, Shard of Alexander. Does pure physical damage from what I can tell (but wasn't able to tell definitively if it does piercing damage). Because of the multi-hitting nature it also inflicts status buildup insanely fast, and it has good hyper armor for trading damage. This skill has potential to do insane damage like Eochaid's Dancing Blade (which is built with a similar setup) but can also proc Bleed/Frost/Poison very quickly, often within the first half of the skill, don't overlook it.
Tested using +25 Fire Knight's Greatsword w/ 60 ARC on the Divine Bird Warrior at Enir-Ilim Outer Wall. Consistently able to hit numbers up to 8k-9k if both parts of the skill hit the enemy at point-blank range.
To get the most damage out of this skill, use an Occult-infused weapon with innate bleed on it, that also does good stance damage to stancebreak the enemy for a big enough opening to land both halves of this skill. Occult Great Katana or Flamberge, seems like a good candidate.

What is this ash of war's damage type? Does it deal Piercing? Magic?
- Anonymous
It feels so ridiculous but oh so right this can be used on colossal swords.
Because it hits so much, you can come in like a truck while also applying bleed or frost, the best of both worlds. Cold Flamberge with this

cried tears when I saw it had hyper armor on it such a good ash thats worth trading hits for

it's like, aspect of the crucible wing on twinblade, but better.

is the only counter to this in pvp just to run and use ranged attacks? Say I was to run a Lucerne with impaling thrust, two handed. No ranged attacks in the build. How would I be intended to counter this? Even if I were to wait until the very end of both attacks for the slight end lag, the person using it could just immediately start it up again as I hit them and I’d be too close to run away. Not even things that normally hard counter attacks with hyper armor can stop this; command grabs, launches, and even pancakes are all entirely useless against someone mid animation.
Please advice on how to counterplay; this tarnished is getting tired.

Best ash in the game, I'm in love. It's so fun and on proper builds is absolutely godly.
Direct counter to damnation greatsword weapon art. It seems to sometimes ignore the auto catch if you time it right, and if they miss the first part this will come at them and knock them out of it and they can't poise thru enough to do the second part

Would this work with Beastman's cleaver? I imagine so but idk if "curved greatsword" = "large or colossal" swords in the eyes of Miyazaki.

Activate malenia's great rune and feel free to trade hits, you can be left with a sliver of hp and 90% of the time you'll recover all health lost with the 1rst part of this aow.

pretty mid TBH. the range is short and recovery time is looong.

whats the best weapon to infuse this with? great sword/ultra great sword with blood infusion?

I know there have been plenty of folks complaining and questing why this is has Physical affinity instead of Magic, but I posit that it's because Gravity magic can either be entirely Magic or almost entirely physical.
Energy Gravity effects are usually on the magic side, while Gravity effects that tear up the ground or throw stuff like rocks (or in this case, the player) are physically-inclined.
So while almost everything involving the Sword Lance could be described as "A Weird choice," it does check out.

At least from had enough foresight to not let you put it on spears like bloodfiend fork

This is going to be one of those skills that could have application in virtually every build. So hype.

once you unlock the weapon from the rememberance you automatically unlock this ash of war for other weapons too, it is not stuck on one weapon!

Weapon: Flamberge +25 Keen infusion with Spinning Gravity Thrust. Incantation: Bloodflame Blade. Stats: 80 Dex, 50 Arc.
Armor: White Mask Helm. Talismans: Lord of Blood’s Exultation, Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, Milicent’s Prosthesis, Shard of Alexander. Cast Bloodflame blade, take your red saber and try spinning like Sheev Palpatine. It’s a neat trick.

Seems like a mistake for this to impart Heavy instead of Magic affinity, like waves waves of darkness, considering it is clearly gravity magic similar to the sorceries. This is similar in nature the Ash of War: Aspect of the Crucible - Wings, and that imparts Sacred affinity... I doubt it was intended for something that is clearly gravity magic to be usable with ARC infusions like bleed. So if the blood greatsword thing cheese gets nerfed, a heavy great katana (with bloodflame blade, if this skill doesn't remove the buff) could be a good alternative for STR builds that still want to use status.

Remove the AoW from it's weapon, put it on "Greatsword" with Blood affinity. No need for thanks.

wish you could put this on the Beast Claw for the Kiba cosplay

Somehow remind me of the combat art from some sort of classic Chinese wuxia movie.

yes to that one anon who keeps asking, usable on curved greatswords

Looks like Wargreymon's Great Tornado move. Also, others mention a Psycho Crusher from somewhere else...
This may not do the most damage or be the fastest or most safe but If you say this isn't the most hilariously fun ash to use you are lying.

in case anyone's wondering where to get it, it's apparently the default AoW on the sword lance (remembrance weapon from commander gaius), and since the sword lance is infusible, you can remove it

After testing I'm pretty sure the spear talisman does boost this ash of war on the sword lance as long as the enemy is attacking while they're being hit
