I feel like this should be considered a "roar" for the related buffs ect. Angy roar go boom.
- Anonymous
Is it just me or does the hand in the image look really weird.
- Anonymous
I am using this on the scarlet rot hammer. Should I use occult or heavy? The hammer does more damage with occult, but the earthshatter does more damage with heavy why is that?

- Anonymous
Thou canst do the rump shaker, huh? The thug shaker, grant me the thug shaker, sir. Shake thy ass.
- Anonymous
really really good for fists that struggle with multiple targets
- Anonymous
This thing is either a gank deleter or useless junk that gives opponent free jump heavy attack. There is no inbetween.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Need confirmation, but i think that even if this triggers Winged Sword talismans on the first Roar, its damage doesnt increase because its a flat number based on weapon upgrade and scaling letter
- Anonymous
This thing is an amazing knowledge/timing check against overconfident ganks. Most of them will just mash R1 out of hitstun and get 2 tapped.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
you stagger someone with the scream at the start of the attack and they can just? jump and hit you? why?
- Anonymous
The amount of times I get knocked out of this trash ash of war is insane. People just sit there and tank it then break your poise when you go for the second slam.
- Anonymous
Using this without mana just makes your character throw a tantrum lol
- Anonymous
Best part is it hits enemies through walls. Does big AoE damage (1k+ per slam @ 55 Str/645 AR on a +25 Nightrider Glaive w/ Heavy S scaling). One of my favorite ashes.

You can do the earth shaker huh? The Loux shaker? Gimme the Loux shaker dude shake the earth.
- Anonymous
There shoulda been an ash of war where you leap forward like godfrey with your hands open and grab them into a ****ing slam like in his fight
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
as far as gank spanking tools go, its alright. you can pretty consistently jump into backstab it, so it wont be effective if you're out in the open. still works good around corners, but you average ganker will probably be in flatland or at first step so you need to get creative
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Seems like I always get backstabbed before the second hit because a player got behind me during it
- Anonymous
The scream procs the winged sword insignia and all the other multi hit stuff

Easily usable on any build. As people already said, this AoW damage only scales with weapon upgrade level and strength scaling (E->D->C->B->A->S). So just bring Caestus with you, upgrade them to max level you can and Heavy infuse them. They get A scaling in Str when Heavy infused, so you will have excellent Hoarah Loux Earthshaker damage while investing pretty much nothing for that. Well, unless 2.0 units of weight matter to you, lol.

This does not proc the effect if bloodflame blade is cast on the weapon before triggering HLE like fire's deadly sin does. Despite what one or two clowns and a dumbass in a couple of comments and posts would have you believe.
But I tested it out on the lesser dragons around Fort Faroth and with each taking no hits at all from the great-stars I'd put HLE on the AoW is powerful enough in its own right to kill them in four casts and four follow ups.

1. Put this on your weapon
2. Equip mimic tear
3. break everybody's posture with the power of goofy ahhs

only really good against newer players who don't know you can jump it
- Anonymous
I only wished that instead of doing the regular battlecry when using this, we instead did a bestial roar similar to what Hoarah Loux himself does before he slams the ground.
- Anonymous
Dragon claw can jump right over this sometimes if they miss the initial roar on you or if you roll the roar then cast it’ll jump over the slam
- Anonymous
Can anyone investigate what happens if you jump right on top of the roar of this specific AOW, I just saw a video of a dude using the AOW and TRIPLE stun the guy after getting attacked by a jumping R2 from a heavy thursting sword with an user who probably has below average poise (40 or less). This was a true combo.

****ing so OP . I invaded 2 ****in nerds (only invading for barred quest line btw) pvping together both high int blood builds, spamming bolt of gransaxx, bhs, etc and I killed them both with this . I knew it was good pve for normal mobs or knights but holy **** does it **** **** up in pvp as well . . 2 shot them with it and I’m an int dex build btw dw cold banished knight sword and dark moon blade

fun fact: this WA will hyper armor through the WA of godfrey's axe even if it hits second.

One of the nice things about this AoW is you can kill enemies through walls with it.

On top of the other comments, I'd like to add that greatshields hard counter this AOW. You can block the first slam entirely and do an R2 counter attack. I haven't tested ever weapon class, but the faster ones will hit you with the counter R2 before you can get off the second slam.
It's worth noting that the Godfrey Axe variant of this ash, while largely inferior, is unblockable and will destroy shield turtles, but this ash does not.
Overall this is an extremely fun ash of war. Perfect for invasion shenanigans and for humiliating people who think they can trade with this. However, it is way too easy to counter to be effective in serious dueling. If you're in the wild and run into somebody who jump or block counters this, change your approach entirely.

With how predictable this AoW is, I feel like it deserves a larger aoe. Both for the roar part and the slams. You’d only have to jump over it anyway, so I’m at least glad it deals so much damage. But even as it is now, it deserves a larger aoe. All else is good. In pve I just need to walk up and use it. Sh*t ton of damage.

I think now since the new feeling from the buff has died down, it has become much more apparent that this ash of war still isn't that good. Currently, when the attack starts you roar, have a short range stagger effect around your character and then slam the ground. This is all good, except if you know how to counter this, then you will quite never get hit by it. All you need to do is jump. That's it. Even if you are hit by the stagger from the roar, you still can reaction jump. This leads to a free jump attack, and if your opponent follows up, you get another jump attack. I think that the stagger should lock you into the first slam, as the way it works now if you know how to jump, this is simply useless in pvp. You can still land this on 90% of players as nobody realizes that jumping negates this (just like the boss fight, crazy huh), but once people catch on it will truly become dead.
Maybe it is just me, but this doesn't seem to work very well in PvE, even in low level areas. I'd rather stick with a dope AoW, like Hoarfrost Stomp.

I wish the shout on this ash of war sounded like godfrey's shout while he uses it
- Anonymous
Spam these full counters invisible black knife assassins. Not sure about the normal ones, tho
- Anonymous
Kinda fitting that this is the not trash version of godrick's axe WA
- Anonymous
This is actually godly for pvp, the original shout staggers pretty much everyone not wearing super heavy armor, and the shockwave has deceptive range while causing people to panic roll like there’s no tomorrow.
- Anonymous
If I use any elemental whetblade, will the damage scale off of said element? Like, if I use sacred it'll scale off of Faith?
- Anonymous
Does anyone know the poise damage the shout is considered? Like how low poise do enemies have to be staggered by the shout?
- Anonymous
God tier for PVE. Get you out of most halway gank fights and kill enemies in three "waves" at worse. You also stun enemies during the windup of the first hit.

I wish we got "Hoarah Loux's Fists" as a weapon instead with a bone fist esq move set

Today I learned you can be ****ing backstabbed between hits of this ability

Something that I've noticed about this is, the shouting portion of the animation with mild, rapid staggerlock works fairly dependably on enemies with less than 30 poise. It also tends to trigger Milicents Prosthetic, Sword Insignia, and Rotten Sword Insignia when it hits multiple times before the first AoE goes off. I like running with it on my main hand Occult Flamberg because of this.
- Anonymous
Does this ash proc weapon effects (blood, poison, occult) if it hits like Waves of Darkness?
- Anonymous
Basically a guaranteed chainlock on anyone who doesn’t run a caster build. The shockwave hits faster than BHS’s startup frames and extends farther than a single roll distance.

The ash's none damaging stagger effect procs Rotten Wing Insignia Talisman, Millicent’s Prosthesis Talisman, Etc. So make sure to equip them!
- Anonymous
As another anon pointed out the only thing that seems to be relevant in damage calculation is strength scaling. Accordingly equip this ash on a lightweight weapon and you got yourself a very good AoE for strength/quality builds.
At 50 strength and a +25 heavy spiked caestus : 1304 damage against leyndell's foot soldiers.

After some prolific testing I'm pretty confident with how to get the most out of the this ash of war. The damage of this scales directly with the upgrade level of the armament AND the strength scaling it has so heavy affinity works far better than all others, the actual AR of the weapon and weapon type seem to have no effect.

Patch 1.04 has massively buffed the speed of this. Actually feels pretty good now. Reduced recovery time allows you to spam it and stunlock most enemies. Probably twice as fast now.
- Anonymous
Okay so with the speed buff it has gotten from patch 1.04 it is now noticably faster. While I can't say for sure how much faster, it feels somewhere between 1.5 to 2 times as fast, both for the initial and the second cast. Making it actually feel pretty good. The reduced recovery time also makes it so you can spam it really well and it seems to stagger just about anything that isn't a boss. The recovery time is rather short now so that's good in general.
I cannot judge how good it will be in pvp. Certainly good to punish agressive players. The fact remains you can jump over the shockwaves. However with enough poise to tank a jumping attack you can catch them with the second cast now.
In short, it is a lot faster now, quite spammy, still good damage independant from the weapon damage, good poise, can stunlock. It is honestly a lot better now. Perhaps more than good enough even.

An amazing ash of war!
You can also collect over 100k runes in few minutes by using this in mohgwyn's palace (before the boss)
- Anonymous
i was expecting Hoarah Loux to showcase the King outside the Throne Room, but no, they just decided to make him a cliche barehanded fighter guy who thinks he's Bruce Lee (*throw trash can*) for whatever reason
still my favorite boss though
- Anonymous
Has been buffed to have good poise. Still does good damage and stagger and the roar has a field that will stagger smaller and humanoid enemies for it's duration.
Super slow to start though so either start it just out of reach or on wake up on a downed enemy.
- Anonymous
Sure, it's not competitively viable, but in PvE it certainly ****s **** up. High damage to groups, or a single target, staggers, whatever! Only downside is the FP cost, and how late game it is. Normal Earthshaker is similar I guess, but unlike Horah Loux's it can't be put on literally any melee weapon. If you really want to meme with this in PvP duels, put it on a dagger or something that might catch the enemy by surprise for a one shot, and good luck! You'll need it lol
- Anonymous
The roar during the wind up actually has a super active hitbox that constantly staggers nearby enemies with weak poise. Also, for anyone wondering, this move DOES NOT get boosted by roar medallion or highland axe.
- Anonymous
Idk how to make that work, you really have to be stupid to get caught by the schockwave
- Anonymous
I've won countless invasions 1v2 and 1v3 with this on a Guts greatsword. Alot of people still don't know it and get surprised by the double stomp. Also worth mentioning that you have hyper armor during the roar.
- Anonymous
Maybe one of the few AoW that can one shot that I feel is somewhat balanced for PvP. I mean come one. If you get hit by the slowest windup in history you have no one to blame but yourself.
Also one shot an 3 man gank at once with this :D

Lol no poise boys cry over this. It's a funny mix up though
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
They shoulda made this a running grapple attack and made it fists-only. It woulda been much more popular.
- Anonymous
Am I the only one noticing this move gives iframes? Some time after the shout and before the slam.
- Anonymous
Having high poise makes you less likely to stagger mid use. I run full Veterans Set and I don't get interrupted using this.
- Anonymous
Hey protip ashes like these have situational applications, like hitting groups etc, but really youre supposed to use this when you get a stance break. All WAs will land on a stance break and do more damage than ripostes for most weapons
- Anonymous
While you can get hit out of the animation, the roar you do before the damage ocurs keeps short ranged enemies at bay. If you can connect both slams most smaller enemies will be ripostable and/or dead afterwards. - Lastly, at least for me, the damage on this is quite good.
- Anonymous
Everyone's thinking about this wrong.
Is Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker competitively viable? No.
Is Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker funny as **** to use when busting out of the Mimic's Veil? Always.
Don't be like these maidenless commenters who need everything to fill a min-maxed role, and be like Hoarah Loux instead. AUAAAHH!!
- Anonymous
is it possible to jump over this ? when hoarah loux casts this its gigantic
Tried this on 2 dogs in caelid upon getting it. Immediately got staggered out of it and killed.
Why the **** do they keep making these goddman weapon arts with slow charge up that act like the player will have 200 poise and 3000 hp. We are not the bosses
- Anonymous
This move is so terrible that it defies all logic and makes me question from soft

It seems like this Ash of war is highly based off of strength and strength scaling multipliers as with 55 in all stats, the heavy affinity outperforms any other affinity by a long shot. It isn’t completely based off of weapon level because the difference between having 99 strength and 55 is immense.
