Using a phalanx spell with this can be surprisingly strong if done right. If close enough, bloodhounds finesse while facing away from your opponent can get you behind them, where the phalanx stuns them for you to hit them with the follow up. It's not super crazy but it feels great to pull off.

Make sure to grab the somber smithing stone on the chair immediately right side behind rocks after crossing the bridge on your way to the gaol. You can use the “secret” path around Stormveil later to rest at a site of grace in liurnia to be able to go to round table hold (probably will trigger at the one by the merchant). Then you can upgrade this sword right away.

There’s also a somber stone in one of the elevator shafts in the agheel mine. Don’t know if it’s a 1 or a 2.

One of the best weapon skills in the game. Follow-up attack teleports you in a direction of your choice, meaning that it can be used to evade most attacks if you’re about to be punished after using the first part of the skill.

This has a SECOND ATTACK! If you use the Weapon skill then follow up with an R2 you get a BLOODHOUND DASH FORWARD and another strike!!

I must be doing something stupid, but sometimes it just doesn’t fire for me. Plenty of FP, stamina, no shield, but I pull the L2 and just stand there like a fool. Try quick pull and release, pull and move, … I don’t get it. Then when it does fire it goes off twice sometimes. Same thing happens using it 2H and RH. Any ideas?

Its not hard to parry. Just listen for the sound of the windup. You can also parry the second attack as well.

                • Is it worth it getting more mana to spam this? I noticed that L2 R2 combo works with no mana as well, the only difference seems to be that the R2 dash is just a dash and not a teleport, which doesn't seem to make a huge difference.
