Created an account just to come here and complain about this guy. He's absolutely rediculous. Parry? he doesn't seem to parry. He cycles through attacks nonstop and is just ridiculous. He may well be the reason I rage quit this game. lol, lvl100, have cleared half of the game, but this one pos just outside the start area is Still completely unstoppable grrr

How to cheese him in Stormhill Evergaol: Jump on the rock and shoot him with a crossbow. Took me ~70 bolts. Also protect yourself with a shield from the stomp attacks. If he goes up, go down, run like a coward and go back on the rock. Not proud, but this boss war just no fun for me.

The way we come across these evergaol bosses is random AF with very little thought given to their placement. Arguably two of the hardest, especially taking into account the likely levels players will be at when encountering one of these bosses for the first time, as well as limited weapon upgrades and crafting options, it makes little sense for two bosses this hard to be in Limgrave. Its the area we learn how things work in Elden Ring's world and are likely to stumble across bloodhound knight Darriwil long before finding Blaidd in Mistwood ruins and having no clue he can be available as a summons in this first evergaol, its obvious from all the bloodstains there that a lot of players are trying Darriwil unprepared for him. Exactly the same for this boss as well, I'd bet most will try this before killing Margit and Godrick the grafted, especially after dying to Margit a few times and deciding to level up before trying again, I've come across these crucible knights in Leyndell and they are a proper handful even with decent talismans, weapon upgrades and incantations to buff myself and for dealing damage, its always touch and go if I kill it or it kills me. This boss version sounds like a nightmare for the under levelled and unprepared. The weeping peninsula evergaol boss difficulty depends on if the player has access to fire or flame AoW, fire incantations or fire grease. If you do, it will melt the boss surprisingly easily. Exactly the same with Adan thief of fire in the first evergaol in Liurnia, freezing grease or a frost AoW can destroy him before he even has a chance to use any of his fire/flame incantations. I don't know if some of these evergaol bosses have been nerfed and maybe one or two buffed but still, I don't think anyone who has beaten the first four we come across could argue that their difficulty is balanced according to the area we discover them in by advancing the story and levelling naturally as we go.

I beat the guy in the Evergaol with the Wing of Astel WA - my build is kinda Dex/Int/Fai (using swords and katanas and some Incantations and Sorceries, more having fun than going hardcore) - I kept my distance and just timed the WA... was fun

Takers Flame shreds this guy within 3-4 hits with Blasphemous Blade at +9

I'm awful at parrying, so I just ran away from him, rolling when necessary, and used Lightning Spear.

Took me a while to beat this boss. Guys, the only working strategy is PARRYING. This is the intended way to beat this boss as other strategies fail miserably. I know parrying is hard and I personally only tried it for the first time once I got stuck on this boss, but this is the way.
Also do NOT try to parry EVERY attack, as some of them are unparryable. The ones you need are horizontal and vertical swings he does when you stand face to face. Attacks like the thrust or big swing after stomp are either very hard or impossible to parry.
Tactics:
1) Get yourself a BUCKLER, it has better parrying timings compared to other "parry" shields
2) Stay as close as possible, literally face to face
3) If he does regular swings, parry them and follow with critical hit
4) If he does any other attack like stomping or any other mumbo jumbo, roll for your life and run away, and get close as soon as he's done

Can confirm Flame of the Redmanes WA staggers him after two hits, and does considerable damage. Just need to bait his attacks so it isn't blocked by his massive shield

This boss becomes a bit of a joke when you learn you can parry all of his 1 handed attacks

Staggers you in two hits. Poise is 35 level 73 with 26 strength and 31 dex vigor 31 endurance at 27. This is one of the broken Fromsoft BS you come across their games.

Can you summon a player for this fight? I'm trying and it won't let us activate the boss.
you know id say overall go in around lvl 35-40 with at least +5 or +2 somber. you need a mixture of timed rolls and some mashed double rolls, its a pretty simple dance to learn.
