Braggart's Roar is a Skill in Elden Ring. Braggart's Roar is a well-rounded skill that raises a players stats and can change the direction of the battle. This skill is found attached to weapons. Updated to Patch 1.07.
How to get Braggart's Roar
- Found on Blackguard Big Boggart's Iron Ball weapon after killing him or continuing Dung Eater's questline and looting the body.
- Default skill on the Battle Hammer
Elden Ring Braggart's Roar Guide, Notes & Tips
- This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the Ash of War: Braggart's Roar.
- FP Cost: 16
- This Skill is not Chargeable
- On activation, the user briefly gathers their strength before unleashing a mighty roar that provides various buffs.
- These buffs are removed as soon as the user swaps out their weapons.
- Counts as a weapon buff. Using another weapon buff will replace the effects.
- Adds 10% Physical Attack
- Damage Negation +10% for all types
- Stamina Recovery Speed +10/s (20%)
- Lasts 60 seconds.
- When these buffs are active, the two-handed heavy and charged attacks of the weapon change their moveset.
- In the case of fists and claws, having one in each hand is considered two handing for this purpose.
- Note that this change in attack pattern is identical to the one used by War Cry, with charged attacks incorporating additional running or jumping components (see the War Cry page for specifics on the individual weapon changes)
- Is affected by Roar Medallion
- Is affected by Axe Talisman
- Is NOT affected by Shard of Alexander
- If used without FP:
- Lasts only 6 seconds
- Heavy attacks do not change their moveset
- Does not receive stamina regeneration or defense
- The 10% attack boost only applies to the weapon that has the Ash of War used since it's a weapon buff.
- Since it is a weapon buff, if you use it on both of the weapons your powerstancing, both of them get a 10% attack boost.
- The 10% Damage Negation and Stamina Regen parts of this Ash of War are also considered weapon buffs, not body/regen buffs respectively. The Negation multiplies all incoming damage by 0.9x. Because of this, the damage negation does not change on your status page.
- Applying Braggart's Roar to two separate weapons doesn't stack the damage negation or stamina regen. It instead refreshes the timer to the most recent use
- The Stamina Regen stacks with other Regen Buffs and does not get overridden or negate them
- Adding any other weapon buff will cancel every part of this Ash of War
- Can be a good way to add a weapon buff to special affinities, such as Occult or Bleed
Note: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows:
- Duration has been extended from 30 to 60 seconds.
- Physical Attack Buff has been increased from 7.5% to 10%.
- All Types of Negations have been increased from 5% to 10%
- Stamina Recovery has been increased from 7 to 10.

GOATed AoW. Easily one of the best in the game especially on larger weapons

Tested this, and I don't receive the buffs for damage or attack level. Dunno if it's just me. Stamina regen works fine
Poised through moonveil heavy with fully charged heavy on sword spear and hit the guy for 1650

Man im just tryna figure out what this status multiplier is

Putting this on a weapon you can't use effectively with one hand allows you to use it for 0 fp. You still get the buff. I have 24 str, 50 ar 50dex. I put it in a duelest axe bc it has enhanced charged attacks as of 1.09, making use of that + the status buff to charged attacks fr9m thus aow, simply 2 handing it allows for effective use & free constant braggarts roar buff

The Roar medallion and Highland axe only effect the Charged R2 does not have any impact on other attacks

Does anyone have specfics to add to the page on the status multiplier? Im sure some fellow arc builds will appreciate the info...

LOVE this Ash. Combined with Roar Medallion and Axe Talisman your charged heavy attacks just do insane damage.
- Anonymous
As of 1.09 does this still increase status buildup on fully charged attacks?
- Anonymous
i really wanted to use it on blood executioners greataxe but the blood Greatsword slaps!
- Anonymous
Can someone test if applying braggarts roar on both weapons stacks the 10%damage negation? I tested it a while back and my conclusion was that they stack but I now see the wiki page has been updated and it says that it doesnt stack.
Help?

Two questions: one, is the insane status buildup from using Braggar's Roar-buffed charged attacks a glitch, and two, was it patched in 1.09? I'll probably end up testing later but it seems like the kind of thing that would be fixed in a patch.

Not sure if its been noted before but a fully charged roar heavy attack increases the amount of status caused from a weapon hit. I can instantly bleed the giant in Stormveil with a charged roar attack but cannot with a normal charged heavy. 54/50 Str/Arc, Executioner's Blood Axe +25 (134 blood loss)

Roar skill are count as weapon buff, so you can stack it with everything that's not another weapon buff

Just finished some testing and it looks like Highland Axe and Roar Medallion have no effect on this AoW's damage reduction, stamina enhancement, or even 10% damage boost to any attack other than the charged two handed attacks. For example, I'm power stancing (using the unique moveset of two identical weapons) long swords, and the attacks in the power stance aren't impacted at all by the medallion or the Highland Axe. But if I two hand a single long sword and strong/charge attack an enemy, there is a noticeable damage boost.
I still think it's a great AoW for powerstancing because the damage reduction, 10% damage boost, and stamina enhancement are all quite powerful. In fact, the roar enhancements not working actually frees up weapon slots.
In order to test the Highland Axe, I simply switched to the axe in the off hand, roared, then switched back to the longsword for the attack.

Right off the bat, the dmg negation is bugged reducing exactly 10 dmg rather than 10%. However, this still is an amazing ash of war, love this on a bleed zwei for keeping that one handed roll catch but getting that two handed R2 to R1 combo. This like warcry also buffs status build up on two handed charge attacks making it one of the best AoW for pve and a fun choice for PvP. This one is truly slept on

I have noticed for months now that I don’t receive the defense boost from this skill. Weirdest part is that when I pull up my stat menu as soon as I activate this skill, only my pierce dmg negation can always be seen reducing by around 8 or 9 for a maybe not even half a second before reverting back to the original value my pierce dmg negation stat would normally be before using this skill. This weird fluctuation happens exclusively to that stat only, idk why. So… for whatever reason, I receive no defensive increase at all from this skill. Hope they patch this soon because it’s been like this For me for a long time now…

Is the damage negation bugged? I tried activating it two handed with no armor and got no defense boost

Loving this on Grave Scythe after the buff. Altered heavy attack has nice quick secondary swing which surprises most opponents and you can easily trade hits. According to my brief tests the body buffs actually stack with FGMS, which I think is weird as it’s also a body buff.
- Anonymous
During the activation part of the skill, between using it and the roar finishing, you are susceptible to piercing damage for the duration.

You might not know this, but when used on a Zweihander, it gets it's DS3 R2 back for shor time...
- Anonymous
Slap this on a Nightrider Glaive high Highland Axe in your offhand, Spear talisman and Roar Medallion and you got yourself a oneshot machine
- Anonymous
Can confirm this stacks with Flame, Grant me strength. You get separate icons for each buff. You still get the attack buff, body buff and even double stamina regen buff.
- Anonymous
Something unusual I don't see anywhere on the page here is that you have -30% piercing damage negation while you're activating the skill. It only lasts for the duration of the initial roar animation, and it's only piercing damage. I'd have to test to see if this applies to any other "roar" or "cry" skills, but I thought it would be pertinent to put that on the page.
- Anonymous
Does the damage negation buff stack with flame grant me strength? I would assume not, if both are body buffs
- Anonymous
So, in theory, this adds +10% damage negation upon activation. However, I don't see a change in any of my damage negation stats (Physical, Magic, Fire, etc.) after activating it.

From my testing, the damage buff appeared to be around 7.5–8% but I'm really unsure as I kept getting weird outliers and inconsistent data across the board. Using Braggarts roar on a weapon with 100 AR netted me 108, but using it on a weapon the game displayed as having 200 AR netted me 215. 8% is possible in both scenarios providing that the status screen rounds up displayed AR while using it normally as the discrepancy theoretically could come about if the true AR was above 199.5 but below 199.537. Then again, it would also be possible if the buff was 7.5%... so I'm really at a loss here. There's definitely something more complicated here under the hood it seems, so I guess we await the data miners to grant us eyes.

i've been trying to figure out the percentages for the bonuses since they aren't listed. The consensus seems to be that it provides less damage than War Cry (~10%), I think it may be around ~8-9% attack power (hard to measure with all the different damage types and resistances), ~5% defense boost, and ~10-12% stamina regen (not sure if stamina regen is a % value or if it adds a flat amount of stamina regen per second).
Overall, not a bad alternative to War Cry. For the same FP cost, it lasts longer (30 sec vs. 20 sec) and balanced by the longer cast time (3 sec). Unlike War Cry, this only changes 2H heavy attacks, which can be good for some weapons. I believe this is considered a weapon buff, so these smaller bonuses can still be useful if you stack with stuff like Golden Vow or Commander's Standard. The stamina regen is the kicker though - it's not as much as the Green Turtle Talisman but it's still one of the only stamina regen buffs in the game, and the only one in AoW form.

do specific affinities block the buff on the weapon like other weapon buff's, or does this apply regardless of that?
- Anonymous
Not sure what happens during Mohgs fights at the palace but with the heavy brick hammer at +22 I do 525 before the roar and oy 520 after. That's dual hand at 51 str.

You guys Seriously need reword "Found on Blackguard Big Boggart's Iron Ball weapon after killing him" how about "found on Blackguard big Boggart's iron ball weapon, after killing him as it is the default ash of war of his iron ball weapon" or something like that. Be more clear in future.

The charged heavy attack must have some insane hyper armour, I was taking the Draconic Tree Sentinel's hits like they were nothing

I heard this Weapon Art was bugged. Has it been fixed as of now?

Unfortunate that the version of this Ash of War that can be applied to different weapons is only found on Blackguard Boggart's weapon, meaning you have to kill him in Liurnia, Leyndell Capital Moat, or let Dung Eater kill him. Really theres no reason to keep him alive once he's moved to Leyndell, as you can get 5 Seedbed Curses without Dungeater killing him, and it is more convenient to have his bell bearing in the Twinmaiden Husk shop. I prefer to just kill Dung Eater and let Boggart live because I'm a sentimental roleplayer.

So I decided to test how this works with Dual wielding. I used two Beastman's curved swords at +24, both with this Ash of War. It seems that the damage increase only effects one weapon, not both. So I two-handed my offhand, did the roar, then went back to dual and roared and made the damage for both weapons increase. Interestingly, it also stacked the defense and stamina regen effects. Don't know how viable that is since it lasts 30 seconds and takes about 3 seconds each roar. Hope that helps someone!
Tested this with a +25 ceastus and the roar, axe, and ritual sword talismans. Here is my findings:
~1k full charge normal
War cry ~1525
Barbaric Roar ~1420, but easier to land due to no charge.
Braggart's Roar ~1502
In all cases, no stealth was involved. As for Braggart's Roar, I tested the negation at the Zamor Ruins. Here is my findings:
Nothing: 1900 to 1196 from a zamor knight 2 hit combo.
Roar: 1900 to 1232 from the same combo.
All of them are pretty alright so ask yourself this: Do you wanna move with the charge and do more damage, or have a more consistent land chance? Also do you want some very mild damage mitigation? Because you might want endure at that point.

It says buffs defense but i dont see any difference in my status when using it
Am i blind?
Or something wrong here?
- Anonymous
just tested on a zweihander activating braggart's roar it gets overwritten by my electrify armament
- Anonymous
Using this also changes both the charged and uncharged R2 attacks of my scythe, dunno what it does for other weapons though

Can be acquired by acquiring the Iron Ball weapon. The Iron Ball drops from an npc at Boilprawn Shack, he sells a necklace for a quest and unlimited prawn. You also get his bell bearing for killing him and can keep buying unlimited prawn at the Roundtable.

This one is bad. The bonuses sound nice but they're tiny, seem to last only like 30 seconds, and the animation is so long it's almost impossible to use in the middle of a fight without getting the crap smacked out of you. You can use it before short fights against ordinary enemies and enjoy the boost, but it's practically useless in a boss fight. Replace this with almost anything else.
- Anonymous
Anyone know if this has an Ash of War? The Battle Hammer can have its skill overwritten, so I assume the Ash of War is out there somewhere...
- Anonymous
A super basic test seems to increase dmg by 10%, so I would presume defense and energy regen would be the same. Lasts 20 seconds or so. Pretty solid for the low fp cost. Cast time is a touch slow but easy to pull off with a bit of space.

If you're using this on a halberd or great spear (the best weapon classes for this imo), use the spear talisman alongside all the charge attack and roar buffs, as the small hitboxes from the jump of the charge attack aren't gonna stagger most bosses so you'll get lot's of counterattacks in pve. The damage gets ABSURD with how much you can stack with roar buffs.
