How to Find the Abandoned Church in Elden Ring
To reach the Abandoned Church, players must clear the Darklight Catacombs (located in the depths section of Scadu Altus by defeating the boss in that location. After you defeat the boss, you can exit the boss arena which is the Forsaken Graveyard, and proceed south on foot (You cannot ride the spectra seed in the Abyssal Woods because it is frightened) until you formally arrive in the Abyssal Woods and find the Woodland Trail Site of Grace [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map].
Open the map, look southeast, and zoom in to find that small pillar mark to find the map fragment, Map: Abyss. Set a waypoint and start heading southeast. Along the trail, you will encounter a hostile NPC, the Madding Hand (NPC) who drops the Madding Hand weapon if you kill the NPC. Continue along the path until you reach the pillar and the Abandoned Church.
- Inside the abandoned church, you can find x2 Scadutree Fragment in front of the altar.
- Check the north side interior of the church to find a body sitting against the wall. Loot the corpse to acquire x1 Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle.
How to Reach the Castle Watering Hole
This section of the guide will help indicate how to reach the Castle Watering Hole or the bottom section of the Scadu Altus region since the Darklight Catacombs is located south of the Recluses' River.
Shadow Keep Main Entrance - Bridge
The Darklight Catacombs is a location found in the depths section of the Scadu Altus region. To reach this, you need to use the coffin that's located under the main plaza section of the Shadow Keep. When you reach the bridge section of the main plaza (the area where you encounter the Vulgar Militia enemies and burning boats), check the east side of the bridge to find a ladder that you can climb down to the underground area of the Shadow Keep's main plaza. (The ladder is next to a body that you can loot or have previously looted that has a Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot item.)

After climbing down, you'll see a waterfall next to it, go through the waterfall to find a room that has another ladder. Climb down the ladder and you'll find a small store room that contains an item, the Domain of Dragons Painting. Approach the wall on the right and hit it to reveal an illusory wall. Beyond is a pathway leading to a sewage area where you'll find a coffin that you can interact with. Resting in the coffin will trigger a short cutscene and you'll be brought to the depths section of Scadu Altus, specifically by the Castle Watering Hole site of grace [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]. Past the site of grace is where you'll find the Ruins of Unte.
