Okay I'm really confused about how poise and hyper armor work with these weapon arts, and there doesn't seem to be a good explanation anywhere. The StrugglerVA videos are decent but still leave me pretty confused, his last video says Messmer's Assault gives 500 poise (which gets doubled because something to do with hyper armor?) and that poise overwrites whatever armor you have, so even if you're naked, while using this weapon art you can take 1000 poise of damage without flinching.

Why then does it seem like EVERY SINGLE THING knocks you out of this weapon art? And I'm seeing a lot of people complain about the same thing, but you have 1000 effective poise while using it? Nothing makes sense

I´m not good at fighting Malenia, but I just tried Messmers Spear for the first time against any enemy without knowing the moveset and killed her on my first try.
Very powerful weapon/ weapon art.
