      Could you do a DPS weapon tier list in the future? A weapons AR is simple to view but there's no way to view a weapons attack speed or DPS and each weapons attack speed varies, including weapons in the same class (i.e. Godslayer Greatsword is faster than the Greatsword)

        Why aren't the shields on this list? I'd like to know how they stack up in damage and scaling against other weapons. It's kind of incredible how incompetent leaving them out is

            So let me make sure I have things right, feel free to correct me
            Colossal swords/weapons as the name implies are huge weapons, which are the heaviest in the game and require sacrificing many points into strength to wield. Yet for some unknown reason from soft have made them not only the slowest weapons in the game ( which makes sense) but what doesnt make sense is that they do not do the most raw damage, which already defeats the purpose of their entire class. Why waste levels into strength to wield a slow, limited weapon when you can spend less than half those levels in dex and have katanas which are faster and against all logic stronger.

            In addition to already being inarguably the worst classes in the game with no redeeming features, they also only have 3 weapons with status build ups and only 1 of those lets you change ash of war to change the skill/scaling as needed. In contrast there is only 1 katana in the game that does not have a status build up and 6/8 of them bleed, so the most overpowered weapons in the game, 80% of them have the most overpowered status effect by default.
            Lastly despite being the heaviest and claiming to have the highest poise damage their stagger takes more hits to trigger than katanas do *and* to spit in the peoples faces further fromsoft have now "patched" the game making them do even less poise damage so now a standard hammer or standard sword are more dependable stagger options than a colossal weapon.

            So, as far as I can see the one and only reason anyone would ever use strength weapons is if they are bored of the game and want to crank the difficulty up by about 5000%, the one and only way they have ever been viable is if all you do is spam jump attacks and now with poise damage flushed down the toilet even that requires roughly 500x times the amount of work as any other weapon in the game.

              It is inarguable that fromsoft didnt want lightning in this game, there is zero chance it was handled by anyone other than unpaid interns who only work on weekends.
              dozens of weapons do magic damage
              dozens of weapons do fire damage.
              dozens of weapons do the also entirely pointless holy damage. thank you fromsoft for making faith weapons primarily rely on a form of damage that 97% of the games enemies are resistant to and every single main boss is resistant to outright immune, very balanced and fair.
              -Then we get to lightning, only 4 weapons in the whole game have native lightning damage and lets take a look
              we have dragon greatclaw, a colossal weapon meaning it weighs a ton, is incredibly slow to use, not at all versatile and despite its size and stamina requirements it does less damage than any katana. The dragon greatclaw in particular also happens to be the second lowest damaging colossal weapon in the game, meaning it is useless in every single conceivable manner
              -Next up bolt of gransax a late game weapon which is a spear, meaning it is both slow and weak and has terrible ash of war and dog crap scaling, this weapon similar to above is the third weakest spear in the whole game, despite being a "legendary" weapon.
              -Next dragin kings cragblade, a heavy thrusting sword, already completely pointless, having a rapier like weapon and then removing the speed and agility is painfully moronic. On top of that it is the weakest heavy thrusting sword in the entire game and has a completely useless ash of war that is never worth using fp for in any circumstance.
              -Lastly veterans prosthesis. A fist weapon, in a game where fist weapons are so poorly implemented that you have to be literally standing on an enemies toes to be able to touch them, they are also a handicap against large enemies that dont allow you to target specific body parts, as with all these weapons they have an unviable ash of war, barely make it into the top 5 damage for fist weapons, which is an incredibly low bar.


              Tl:Dr
              There are roughly 5x times the number of weapons that deal damage in all other element types than lightning
              The pitiful 4 lightning weapons we do get are : slow, weak, 3/4 are heavy af, have the worst scaling in the game, have the worst ashes of war in the game
              To top it off lightning inexplicably scaless off dex, so the lightning weapons are a handicap and the scaling is also a handicap because it leaves you 2 options. Put enough points in dex for your weapons to do decent damage but then not have enough points in faith to cast lightning incantations or you put points in faith to do lightning incantations but the trade off is that your weapons will do about as much damage as a pool noodle. No matter how you look at it lightning builds in this game are at a severe disadvantage it isnt even funny. They put so little effort into lightning it would have honestly been better to just not include it, it is worthless.

                Can you make a separate table for weapons that cannot use Ashes of War? That would help plan for weapons similar to Ashable weapons but with cool abilities.

                    I'm pretty sure that STA is STAmina damage to blockers, and RST is Required STamina to swing it, but it's not really clear.

                      This is incredibly helpful! If possible I would love to see the ability to sort by stat requirements. For instance say I want to give a character 25 str or dex. I want to be able to see where the line is drawn for weapons I can reach the requirements for.

                        whoever made this table needs to redo the sorting, because it is currently sorting them alpahbetically, which makes the Order ( - ) ( S ) ( D ) ( C ) ( B ) ( A ) which is all kinds of ****ed

                                              I made a comment perfectly polite, no swear words, no insults. nothing that could even possibly be deemed " innapropriate" all I did was mention that lightning got shafted as it only has 4 weapons, all of which are terrible that inherintly use it and the whetblade to add lightning damage neither adds or improves any scaling

                                              blood/poison/occult add arcane
                                              flame art/holy add faith
                                              magic/frost add inteligence

                                              lightning works on dex, which is already included in 99% of weapons and the whetblade does not improve scaling. So every single attribute has a scaling added to it that improves it yet lightning has zero weapon choice and zero scaling to work with even if you do decide to play with a handicap and use it. It is so unbalanced its not even funny

                                                why did they even bother having lightning in this game? only 4 weapons inherintly deal lightning damage and the whetblade to add lightning damage doesnt even add or improve scaling,. blood adds arcane scaling, holy adds faith, flame art adds faith, occult adds/improves arcane but lightning works on dex, which all weapons already require and it does not improve the scaling by even a single grade. It is like they spent the majority of their time on cheap broken blood and then assigned a few unpaid interns about 3 days to add lightning damage

                                                    I haven't completely checked this on every weapon, but it looks like the smithing stone weapons are also at +10, and not the maximum of +25.

                                                        So I'm probably way off base, but from what I've read on the wiki, occult works in a semi-similar manner to how luck worked in DS3, in that it can (possibly) expedite status ailments procs, yeah?

                                                        So, I'm not really sure how this works. Like, if a weapon has a passive bleed effect of some number, say 30, and if you also have 30 points allocated into arcane, it's my understanding that the weapon will not benefit from the arcane stat, unless the weapon itself has some form of arcane scaling? Otherwise, the arcane stat doesn't provide any form of enhancement whatsoever.

                                                        This creates a bit of a dilemma for number tracking here. As bleed is super good in this game, it really only makes sense for people to want to figure out how to optimize it, even if the numbers involved are really messy.

                                                        So to help frame the issue, heres a question for the wiki community to answer:
                                                        "What is more beneficial for proc'ing bleed on a given weapon that has a passive bleed effect?"

                                                        a.) 10 additional points of bleed buildup on hit.
                                                        or ,
                                                        b.) Infusing the weapon with occult affinity - giving the weapon like a D rank arcane scaling, and allowing for 30 points allocated into an arcane stat to expedite the proc'ing of bleed?


                                                        (No idea how to even really test this with a slow enemy thats pretty resistant to bleed. Wait a minute, the dragon. The old one thats sleeping. That guy would probably work.)
